Would it be possible to run a BUG Fit with just 1 Trop? I dont think I will be playing Jace without 2 duals. I think I would like to attempt a Shardless version. Mana base would look something like:
1 Trop
2 Bayou
1 USea
4 Misty
4 Verdant
3 Forest
3 Swamp
2 Island
1 Tar Pit
1 Volraths Stronghold
Also No forces... What would be a reasonable replacement? Or is it just un playable without force?
I feel like that without Forces you'd just me "out countered" by the person that has them, because you know their also playing Daze and such as well.
I don't think so. But you might manage it if you don't focus so much on the blue.
I think at that point I'd just give up on the typical blue gameplan and use blue purely for utility (Brainstorm and Intuition) instead. Up your redundancy (e.g. Gigapede & company), and coast on the assumption that you've got the full counter suite while enjoying the greater consistency offered by a minimal blue splash and the heavy (more ordinary) focus on beatz and control. Also No forces... What would be a reasonable replacement? Or is it just un playable without force?

Did I specify that I want to run the shardless BUG deck? I feel like I could depend less on forces.
3 Shardless Agent
3 Baleful Strix
4 Veteran Explorer
4 Cabal Therapy
2 Sensei's Divining Top
2 Coiling Oracle
1 Consecrated Sphinx
1 Scavenging Ooze
3 Pernicious Deed
4 Brainstorm
2 Abrupt Decay
2 Maelstrom Pulse
3 Forest
3 Swamp
2 Island
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Verdant Catacombs
2 Tropical Island
2 Bayou
1 Underground Sea
2 Liliana of the Veil
2 Thoughtseize
1 Eternal Witness
1 Grave Titan
1 Creeping Tar Pit
1 Tamiyo, the Moon Sage
I apologize for it being a bit out of order.
I think the biggest reason to play Shardless is to increase the blue count for Force of Will. Otherwise I would MUCH rather run Green Sun's Zenith for consistency and a toolbox.
I agree! The card itself is awesome. I'm actually developing a deck that utilizes him. I plan on starting a thread for it within the next few days. But like I said, without Forces, I don't think that's the shell for him.
Like a Shardless BUG deck? With like Hymns and stuff? As I have been testing, it seems to lack ways to kill people... 1/1's and 2/2's dont seem to cut it for more... And everything it plays dies to deed :(
@Megadeus:
Oddly enough it is BUG colored, but very different from that deck. When I get some time, I'll start a new thread for it. We don't need to derail this one any longer.
@Angel of Despair:
I don't really like it that much unless you're playing GBW. You can actually cast it then. It made more sense for the Goblins player in Atlanta to play it because red lacks real disruption for that combo. We do not. Between tons of discard, Extirpate, and extraction effects that are good in other matchups, I don't feel like it's worth taking up that many slots to a card we can't cast if necessary for just one deck.
@Trinket Mage:
Pretty much echoing everything Arianrhod said. The blue splash should be doing more powerful things. Personally I think something similar to Qweerios' build is almost ideal for the BUG versions. Pretty much just for Jace, Brainstorm, and Negate out of the board.
Dear lord... a RUG delver player tried to shut off my Sphinx of Uthuun with a Pithing Needle.

What are y'all's thoughts on Fleshbag Marauder with Genesis Engines? Seems like an easy way to deal with the big bad legends.
Also, would any of you recommend Phyrexian Revoker when combined with a recursive engine? Revoker seems like it could hose Jace and CounterTop to a fair extent.
It's really, really useful in this metagame, what with Omniscience kicking around and Griselbrand doing its thing. I used to run Shriekmaw, but I've converted to Marauder for the time being. Crucially, Marauder is an appropriate target for Unearth, which allows you to do some rather broken things with Intuition (in BUG) and Eternal Witness.
Like Megadeus, I've been having a lot of success with Pithing Needle, so some sort of similar effect is definitely desirable. While recurring Revoker is great in principle, its vulnerability to removal and burn (including Abrupt Decay now) makes it a less interesting proposition for me, since I need it to stick against planeswalkers. Plus, being able to cast a Needle T1 is quite nice. With Witness, you can still recur broken Needles if need be.Also, would any of you recommend Phyrexian Revoker when combined with a recursive engine? Does anyone has suggestion about better sideboard against SnT Varians (Omni-Tell / Sneaky Show deck) and agains TES/Ant/Belcher Variants? By the way im running Punishing Nic-Fit deck.
I was thinking about running armada wurm in rector fit! Opinions?!
I think Armada Wurm is better than grave titan in GBW "rock-ish" nic fit. But if you are running rector and moat you shouldn't use him.
Does Punishing Fire Fit have Primeval and/or other land search? If so, a singleton Karakas takes care more of Emrakul (either sneaky or showy). Pithing Needle shutdown Sneak Attack, and Shriekmaw can be used to destroy Emrakul outright.
Also, playing game 2 against SnT, if you whiff on a Cabal Therapy and you know an Emrakul punch is coming, play but don't sac Veteran Explorers so your manabase isn't completely destroyed.
EDIT: Also also, anyone have any preferences on which Witness Engine is the best? Recurring Nightmare seems like the most explosive yet most vulnerable, Stronghold Tower is just the opposite (safe yet slow), and Genesis is right there in the middle.
