So I'm playing the original chrono list last night on MWS against a white weenies deck with familiars, militants, moms, sfm, avengers, etc. On my panoptic mirror I had imprinted cryptic command, damnation, AND visions. I was bouncing and killing his dudes every turn but he wouldn't concede. I had to spend several turns digging for the time warp until finally he conceded.
I don't know if grim tutor will help alleviate the durdling, but I'm not convinced panoptic mirror is the I WIN button blue has been looking for.
EDIT:
Also may I suggest Brainspoil as a budget alternative to grim tutor. It can fetch either piece of the combo AND can't be countered. Also it can function as removal in a pinch or grab thragtusk. Unfortunately it can't find deed or damnation.
Spent 6 hours testing and made some changes to my GB list:
Creatures: 8
4 Veteran Explorer
2 Eternal Witness
2 Thragtusk
Spells: 23
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Innocent Blood
3 Thoughtseize
2 Diabolic Intent
3 Abrupt Decay
2 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Pernicious Deed
1 Sylvan Library
PWs: 5
2 Garruk, Primal Hunter
1 Vraska, the Unseen
2 Liliana of the Veil
Flex (1 only):
1 Phyrexian Arena
1 Pernicious Deed
1 Maelstrom Pulse
1 Sylvan Library
1 Sensei's Divining Top
Lands: 23
1 Dryad Arbor
2 Bayou
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Marsh Flats
1 Volrath's Stronghold
1 Phyrexian Tower
1 Wasteland
3 Swamp
6 Forest
Sideboard:
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Karakas
2 Crop Rotation
3 Memoricide
1 Thragtusk
1 Krosan Grip
2 Black Sun's Zenith
1 Thrun, the last troll
3 Surgical Extraction
I learned a lot crashing into the Shardless RUG, Jund, and Maverick variant last night. Instead of boring you all with details I thought I'd share this which is where I ended up as the night went on.
I'm a little torn on my flex slot since Sylvan was very performant for me... in fact with Thragtusk it was so good I could draw extra cards off it. Plus SDTs are kind of hard to find these days... Sylvan much easier and with excess life gain it has more upside. I could also see myself running an Arena since the deck thins so much extra cards is really all you need in this build, everything is generally rock solid to draw into once you VetEx'd a couple times... but then sometimes I wanted a 3rd pulse for planeswalkers... and sometimes a 3rd deed. Intent makes it all come together so I'm leaning Arena.
Shroud dudes were great, but Thrun is the sweet spot in GB. However he's lame in some matchups so the sideboard seems to be his home.
I mean, sometimes games are won before you actually beat them to death. If you have the ability to Damnation every turn again Death and Taxes, I'm pretty sure that "finding the win" is academic. Same with Visioning every turn. Show me a non-combo legacy deck that can keep up with Nic Fit drawing 4 cards every turn.
RE@Brainspoil, I wouldn't recommend anyone picks anything up yet. Cards are being tested on a daily basis for ChronoFit, and very little outside of the core is set in stone at this point. I certainly wouldn't advocate running out and picking up Grim Tutors just 'cause. If Tutor does end up staying in the deck, Brainspoil is an acceptable substitute, although Tutor is always going to be better. But we're a few weeks of solidification and testing away from being able to make that call.
And don't worry, if Grim Tutor does end up staying, I'll be right there with the rest of you, having to drop 300+ on the pair =( I'm not advocating them because I have them, or anything, because I don't -- but rather because I expect them to be a good fit for the deck. Time will tell if I'm right, and I say again: do -not- spend the money on them until the deck proves itself.
Eh, some card, like Grim Tutor, arent bad to have anyway :P
I tested with Sakura-Tribe Elder and Sylvan Ranger and really didn't like drawing either of them when I didn't want lands. The great thing about Wall of Blossoms is that it is actually a wall and it will buy you precious time against aggressive decks to set up a Deed or a threat. When the 0/4 body isn't needed, it becomes a great fodder for Cabal Therapy since the cantrip ability makes up for potential whiffed therapies, and if it doesn't, well you've successfully create your own card advantage. Drawing a card is good at all stages of the game as well, and it is also welcomed when Sun Titan hits the table.
Why I didn't play any Planeswalkers? Because none of the green, black, or white ones grant anything that cannot be accomplished via green creatures. Planeswalkers tend to be mana heavy, legendary, and un-tutorable. If I want to maximize consistency, I would rather have a larger GSZ toolbox than singleton "good cards". Liliana is probably the exception to all the token-generating PWs. I have come to realize why Liliana's +1 ability is detrimental for Nic Fit while it isn't for Rock or Junk when I read Koby's argument against fetchlands as deck thinning. When Rock hits 3 lands for Lily, they technically don't need any more lands to function and her +1 ability converts the cards that have lost value, according to what stage the game is in, into potential removal. Nic Fit, however, is a different story. You will get value out of your lands until you reach your 7-10th land drop and having your hand size shrink, while it is symetrical, is usualy more detrimental to us than it is to them. Also, Planeswalkers lack the utility that some green creatures offer. While they may represent near-insurmountable card advantage in some matchups, they are nothing else but high-cost, low utility, slow clocks in other matchups.
Planeswalkers in Nic Fit are great for their synergy with Deed, but I wouldn't advocate them over anything GSZ-able unless your shell is specificaly designed to abuse a certain amount of "good cards" (i.e.: Nic Fit with Brainstorm and Jace). Then again, some creatures offer the same benefits as some PWs, but with different weaknesses (AKA: most Titans).
Do you know what assuming does? It makes an ass out of you and me.
Get it...? Ass, u, me?
... ffs I was trying to be funny...
I agree on Sakura Tribe and Ranger. Those cards if not accessed immediately once you can afford them are just wretched. Bad topdecks, miserable chump blockers, not a threatening clock, not really card advantage. Wall seems more than alright.
I will disagree on the planeswalkers.
Garruk PH and this deck had a torrid love affair for hours last night during testing. Not a great deal of green creatures can; Create another creature immediately, draw 3+ cards, provide an ultimate which only 1-2 decks can respond to, act as a bitterblossom for 3/3s with no life cost. He's extremely well costed... and even if all you get is a 5 mana harmonize that's ok because you probably desperately needed 3 cards to not lose. In that kind of a situation no creature drawn can get you out of a problem spot. Except Terastadon, but sometimes if your problems are already creatures even he won't do when you need a pulse or deed. Many decks cannot remove him immediately if he rolls up to 4 and presents a very significantly sized legacy body (3/3). No abrupt decay, no bolt, no swords. I will probably never cut Garruk PH.
Regarding Lili 2.0, I agree with a lot of your comments on her and the application of the +1 activation. I do however feel that NicFit also reaches a point where extra lands drawn are not required, particularly fetches once you've got your basics and bayous out. Then they are completely dead and can be gladly pitched to Liliana. Same for Veteran Explorer. Against Miracles giving them mana is bad so pitching veteran explorers there is of value. There are also certain matchups where cards in hand for your opponent increases their chance of killing you and your cards in hand are practically irrelevant; all you need is a clock. Here I gladly roll both hand sizes down. Finally she provides that intermediate creature removal I was often missing that isn't targetted (a smart guy was testing Mirran Crusader out against the format, yeah). Removing small sacrifical chumps can be easy for the deck but large bodies with CC>3 we can sometimes struggle against, right? I don't think we need to address the ultimate since its amazing. I would make a final point that accessing her discard to bin a cabal therapy when you'd rather just flash it back for free on explorer, saving mana and increasing your reach is a nice line of play to have access to. Particularly when fighting thalia (if you cant just kill her outright with Lili).
The other planeswalker I worked with, Vraska, actually proved herself nicely. She's another one of those intermediate removals, she beats on other planeswalkers, generally yields at least a 2 for 1.. and if you're in control is a 4 turn clock guaranteed since not many decks in Legacy can do much to stop 3 creatures all swinging for lethal at the same time.
Plus as you hinted, planeswalkers aren't vulnerable to things that Titans are, like removal or sweepers. I was having a lot of problem with creatures dying left and right or being irrelevant once GSZ'd out... and this is why I ended up with just Thragtusk and E-Witness... and a Thrun in the board. I'm also considering Gaea's Revenge.
Hi, i'am also new here and started playing Nic Fit a few weeks ago. I like this deck but i only have access to the GB Version of NIC FIT and also want to stay GB, hope this will be okay for you?
It's really funny to play, but sometimes the deck sucks a little bit. Now, I want to know if this kind of Deck is good enough for competitiv play.
Here's my deck^^. (sorry i can't link the cards or do this correctly, because i don't know how this works)

Any ideas to make this Deck better? I don't know if this is okay, because i play this kind of deck only a few weeks and i also play legacy really short. I'am also loosing to a great variation of decks, but i think this is my bad playstyle.^^
I'am also very sorry for my bad english.
Mfg Darksider
@Niche, very good points. Being able to run Garruk, Primal Hunter (even if only as a 2-of) & Hymn to Tourach (as a 3-of) are the two reasons to run straight GB over the other versions. Hymn is debatable, but Garruk 3.0 is really strong. But with Vraska and Abrupt Decay, GB has been given a lot of tools to do well recently. Maybe even Liliana 3.0 could find herself a spot, except her ultimate is awful.
@Darksider, your list looks solid, but Nic Fit isn't an easy archetype to do well with. It can take a while of playing the deck before you start doing well with it, so just keep playing and stick with it!
That's easy, just put [ cards ] before the card name and [ /cards ] after (without the spaces before and after "cards" of course, basically the same way you put [deck] at the top of your list but use "cards" instead of "deck").
So putting (without the spaces) [ cards ]Crusade[ /cards ] gives you Crusade.

Ok, I revolutionized a little bit the list (like I saw you did). A new guy has made his debut in Chronofit and I was happy about it. His name is Abyssal Persecutor and he gives a big hand: happened several times that i cast him turn 2.
Also i tried 3x Brainstorm and I liked it. I cut Top, and I didnt miss it.
(before trying this version I am gonna post, I tried one with Shardless Agent.. but cascading into Veteran Explorer was so bad i threw the list away eheh).
List:
4 Veteran Explorer
2 Eternal Witness
2 Thragtusk
4 Cabal Therapy
2 Damnation
1 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Capture of Jingzhou
2 Cryptic Command
4 Ancestral Vision
3 Pernicious Deed
2 Panoptic Mirror
3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1 Creeping Tar Pit
1 Phyrexian Tower
3 Tropical Island
2 Bayou
1 Underground Sea
3 Forest
3 Island
2 Swamp
3 Misty Rainforest
3 Verdant Catacombs
2 Abyssal Persecutor
2 Abrupt Decay
3 Brainstorm
SB: 4 Negate
SB: 2 Thoughtseize
SB: 2 Cranial Extraction
SB: 2 Extirpate
Major changes, except for BS and Abyssal, are +1 Cryptic Command (which is lovely) +2 Abrupt Decays (I dont really remember what I took out for this 3 cards)
I am still trying to figure out a decent sideboard, but I need more testing to build it.
I honest to god don't see the point of Primal Hunter. Garruk Relentless kills something on entry and/or produces equivalent chump tokens, until he flips and you stonewall your opponent while digging hard into back to back grave titans.
Nothing felt stronger in my straight GB list than EOT fetching a dryad arbor, untapping, tapping it for mana and sacrificing it to slam a grave titan. Then next turn sacrificing a newly made zombie to find the other grave titan. Garruk Primal Hunter was always not that great, making 3/3 chump tokens and dying, or drawing some cards that I may or may not want--not tutoring win conditions until your opponent succumbs to outrageous board presence.
@ Garruk PH: I've tried Garruk 2.0 and Garruk 3.0 and I have to say 3.0 is better overall. 3/3 is more relevant than 2/2 as a chump blocker. Fighting a creature for 3 is not good removal at all, and against fatter threats, will just kill G2. There's no doubt that G2b is great for both chumping and winning, but getting to that point is the trick.
Anyhow, in Dig Fit I dropped to 3 Deed and 0 Intent for 2 Damnation. Thoughts?
In my honest opinion... I'm not a big fan of the choronofit list, i will admit its very fascinating and innovated but I guess blues not my thing.
I've been playing nic fit for a while now and have to say its quite the list. I did take it apart to adapt to the meta which i started playing junk and with much experience and not hate, the deck is very well qualified to be dtb but i guess you can argue that the pilot must also be "to beat" lol as in he/she must know what they are doing.... just like nic fit.
I have picked up nic fit again due to a very awesome person which i know nothing of but his name is Kevin on here aka arianhood.... He's awesome because i am playing scapefit and have been either 4-0 or 3-0, consistently in my local. Yes even playing against all the hate... I will post my list on here and maybe i can join all the awesome nic fitters here for input and ideas.

1 Scapeshift
You may ask: wheres eternal witness? I cut the card for 60... i dont gsz her enough and about gsz... we dont have a huge gsz tutoring package anyway so it gets clunky. One of Diabolic Intent is super powerful from all my playing... it gets me my answer in my deck... may it be a deed, cabal for cantrip and discard, a wish, or even scapeshift.... heck i even sac a explorer to get lands and get another explorer and flashback cabal to be up 6 mana on turn two lol.... oh and i dont want to talk about volrath lol great card but I'm not for the situational type deal, gimme an bayou and we call it even bc sometimes mana on the draw with this deck is a pooper.
Your SB only dedicates 6 cards to wish? Okay, it might be that I'm a bad magic player but 3 REBs is a givin.. 3 surgicals and 3 thoughtseizes? uh i hate losing to combo... my partner in crime is straight combo player and not just a common one but a very very veteran combo player.... i know what i need to hate bc this deck folds to combo a lot.... even burn... and im not going to take my chances on dredge. Deed isnt fast enough against a deck that wins on turn one or two and blind calling against combo isnt 100.
I cut all the awesome wish targets for the ones that will win me the game.... Someone in my local dropped two rune halo against me lol thank goodness i have reverent of silence and just hard casted it. Next turn i won. Reverent of Silence is also my tech for leyline of sanctity, enchantress, miracles... etc.
Pulverize is my answer to decks like our worst match up.... MUD!!!! haha and to answer that one post about dealing with batterskull, imagine dealing with two batterskulls and a Godo (thats going to equip and swing twice next turn). It also ruins affinity (its some how making its way back).
Hullbreach is a question mark but I've gotten rid of soo many jittes and sylvan libraries at the same time i cant complain. Ive also gotten rid of soo many Rest In Peace with top out.. just dumb annoying stuff...
pyroclasm i cut but brought back bc Arianhood was right about having a quick answer to tokens.
Dreadbore is for that one sneaky Jace... or Teeg.
My biggest problem is always teching my sideboard becauase I want soo many awesome cards to bring in or have to many worries about my match ups. I don't find uses for slaughter games anymore even though its absolutely GREAT!! I can still wish for thoughtseize, I don't like innocent blood anymore. I will admit though i want to find space for a damnation.
Agree or Disagree. My two cents. Happy writing. Big Props for an awesome deck![]()
@sderenatore -- What has Abyssal been doing for you, specifically? As in, what role is he filling? If he's just big, undercosted beef, there are probably better options -- Desecration Demon comes immediately to mind.
@Petree -- It's certainly acceptable to tune for your local meta, and if you have a heavy combo presence to combat, then I can certainly understand trimming back the wish options.
Just a few thoughts --
Maelstrom Pulse is strictly better than Dreadbore. For 1 additional mana, you get the ability to kill any permanent, not just 'walkers and critters, including all copies of said permanent. You also get a card that's easier on the mana base -- 2GBR as opposed to 1BRR. Considering that we generally don't want too many mountains in play, I think the double red is going to be a little harder to achieve in most situations.
Hull Breach -is- solid, but I feel that it falls under the category of the above. You can open up a slot by collapsing Dreadbore and Breach into a Pulse. That could easily get you your Damnation.
I can see the merit of the Diabolic Intent over the 4th Green Sun. I personally like the Green Sun a bit better just because I tend to play to the aggro side of the deck equally to the combo, and Intent lends itself better to the combo side.
How has your mana distribution been? Your list looks like it skimps a bit on green mana -- a Mountain over a Forest, and a Badlands over a Bayou. I guess the fetches could theoretically help with that, but eugh. I guess if it's working, then that's good...I just don't like the look of it.
I'm also assuming that you don't have much Teeg in your local. You have Decays and the Pyroclasm/Dreadbore[Pulse] slot, but Mother of Runes negates all of those options (which is commonly played alongside Teeg). With an active Mom + Teeg out, your only "out" is to find a Deed. That's why I recommend the Virtue's Ruin (or Perish, pending taste and combo elves presence). You then have 3 Deeds + 4 Burning Wishes as outs to Teeg, which improves your chances a lot. Obviously if there's no Teeg presence, then just ignore this -- but it's something that your list looks soft to from where I'm sitting.
Either way, glad it's doing good work for you =)

R2 - Burn - 2-1
G1 - I mull to 6 and had no business spell. I lose
G2 - I resolved Huntmaster and Tusk to delay him. I was down to 2 wth 7 lands. I will lose next turn if I dont cast Scapeshift (hoping there is no POP, whew). No PoP for him.
G3 - Same game as G2. Tusk and Huntmaster gave me a few turns
R3 - Esperblade 2-1
G1 - Had early Explorer and Cabal for him but I never drew scapewish or burning wish. I had to kill him via land drop per turn (with an SDT online). I got him until 2 and I just needed 1 mountain. Never found it.
G2 - I had an early Therapy and Explorer and ramped mana enough for the Scapeshift with no Counters for him.
G3 - We were down to the last 5 turns and I already had 7 lands while he is still sitting at 20 life with 4 Spirit Tokens. On turn 3, he used his Jace's fateseal and look at my graveyard (looks like a witness). He placed it in the bottom and on Turn 4, I topdeck a forest, my 8th land. My life was at 4 and I needed to do something. I played Scapeshift with 4 mana open. He plays Pierce and I pay 2. He STP his spirit so he can be at 21. I got 2 Valakuts and 6 mountain
R4 - RUG
G1 - I start the game by playing cabal therapy naming mongoose (I know it was a bad name and I thought it was good at the time), I saw 2 Bolts, 1 Goyf and 3 lands. He taps out on our game and I took advantage with a 2nd Cabal>Explorer>Cabal flashback naming Bolts. Never found a scapeshift but when I got to 7 lands (5 mountains), I GSZ Primeval Titan and got Valakut online. Killed him by Valakut Trigger and Primeval attacking.
G2 - I start a game of cabal therapy, this time saying Brainstorm but only found Ponder, Goyf, Mongoose, wasteland and Misty. I played another Cabal Therapy and he diverted it to me. Just like what Caleb Durward said, if someone misdirects your Therapy, you should name SARPADIAN EMPIRES VOL. VII (just for fun). He saw a Tusk and a Scapeshift. I drew a Wood Elves and played the Tusk. He kept the field with just the 2 Mongoose. Played it and while the trigger was on the stack, he submerges my Tusk while I look for lands. I was down to 6 and had only the 3/3 Beast from Tusk. I played therapy naming lightning bolt, he only has 1 Daze and 2 lands. He attacks both Mongoose and I blocked one. I play Scapeshift next turn.
By the end of the game, he was afraid that I will wish for Perish as he is afraid of that card. I told him I never had it ^_^
R5 - BUG
G1 - I don't know my opponent's deck and kept a 3 land hand with ooze tusk deed and gsz. He plays U.Sea and IoK for the GSZ (looks like a BUG deck). He played 1 Delver of secrets and he didn't flip for 2 turn. I Therapy him and found Daze, Decay, Hymn and Tarmo. I flashbacked for Daze. He drew another delver and played both and 1 Tarmogoyf with no counters in hand, seeing that there is no 2nd black mana. I wished for Pyroclasm and that stopped him for a while. Got him until 18 and I drew a Scapeshift. Killed him with 7 lands.
G2 - I caught offguard when he Wastelands in 2 turns and I never recovered due to lack of green mana. Lesson learned
G3 - I got him with early with no counter. I start with Therapy and he starts with Shaman. I play more ramps and had the Scapeshift in my hand with flasback therapies.
R6-R7 - BUG and UW Stoneblade - ID
TOP8
JUND
G1 - I played with this guy before and it was a good thing he played using Jund. We start of with a few disrupts here and there. I played a Cabal Therapy while he has 3 lands and named LOTV, hit nothing but saw 2 BBE. I immediately casted GSZ for 1 and flashbacked for BBE. Now, I have 7 lands, he had 1 wasteland in play. I top decked a Wood Elves and made a Scapeshift for 8 lands (2 Valakuts)
G2 - My opening had was like 5 lands, 1 SDT, 1 Cabal and 1 Valakut. I thought at that time that this was sufficient but on my first turn, I drew the second Valakut! That kinds spelled doomed for me. He played T1 Shaman. I played the T1 Sensei and then CB him for BBE which hit 1 but he had 2 Hymn to Tourachs! I knew I would be screwed here so after him playing 2 Hymns, I just drew lands and conceded after a few turns.
G3 - I got a nut draw. I got CB Explorer Wish Scapeshift GSZ Forest and Badlands. I killed his hand while he didn't disrupt mine. I got 7 lands now and I got a Burning Wish and Scapeshift. I Scapeshift him while he was at 20 life. He was down to 2 and I need 1 more Mountain to win. He plays IoK and saw the 2nd scapeshift. He passes the turn. This is the part where I almost had a heart attack. I drew Huntmaster and played Scapeshift for FOUR! I found 3 mountains first and was browsing most of my cards in the deck and found NO FOURTH MOUNTAIN!!! I thought that I made a HUGE misplay. Fortunately, the last card was a Taiga (Whew) mini-heart attack removed from the game. Next time, I should have just gone until 2 mountains ^__^
BUG
I gave the win to him since the opponent is SnT which is probably not a favorable match-up to me.
SB Notes
During the early games, I kinda thought that a card is lacking in my wishboard. When I got into R4, that was the only time it hit me; I should have removed 1 GSZ and placed it in the SB so I can wish for it.
Last night, on Magic Workstation, I tried testing the abyssal/chrono list as well as qweerios' GBW list.
Chronofit:
I lost G1 + G3 to belcher with the blue version, but was very happy to win game 2 with negate, pulse on belcher, and witness negate again. G3 I lost to a turn 2 ETW for 12. Not much I could do about that on the draw.
I beat a poxless pox deck with percy and jace. Good thing about that duo is that jace can bounce percy to let you win the game.
I lost to dredge because I only had 2 extirpates in the board to fight it, and apparently cabal therapies work against us too.
BGW:
I played against Affinity which lost to deed, as it usually does.
Then I lost to a U/B/Jace/Lili cascade deck. I have a hard time playing against these ancestral cascade decks. 3 mana for a body + 3 cards is difficult to overcome, even for this deck. I tried loading up on removal but couldn't handle the card disadvantage.
I also played a handful of other games against very random decks and players, which brings me to my next point:
I HATE using Magic Workstation. The decks (and opponents' competency level) you play against are completely random. There's just no one physically in my area to test against. If anyone would like to test different decks on MWS on weekday evenings PLEASE pm me.
I'll just post my skype here, i can always be contacted and have spare time most evenings for some testing:
