Yeah, I know the Gaddock Teeg thing isn't super interesting in terms of a new idea, I just feel like the flavour of the ability grants itself to an enchantment.

The only issue is that it would be presumably used in a deck like enchantress which is attempting to sometimes cast non creature spells that are 4 or more. Not saying I dont like the idea, just why it wouldn't be made more than likely assuming for some reason R&D were to think about it

Yeah, I'm sure Phyrexian cards'd be really good there, but if you have to build the deck around it in that way I think it inherently limits the effect. Dunno, think it'd be interesting to try out.

Noxious Revival seems like it'd be especially good.

Loss of life can't be prevented. The ability to print "lose life" instead of "take damage" gives Wizards a tier system for damage, basically. They need some way to make damage capable of being dealt with, and then some way to make certain types of damage unavoidable without having to print "this damage cannot be prevented by any spell or ability" every time.

Loss of life is also more useful for cards to allow you to transfer life for some effect, like Thoughtseize and Dark Confidant. It allows Wizards to lock you into this payment without giving you easy ways to circumvent it, as you would be able to do so if these cards merely damaged you.

Although Planeswalkers have actually flipped this with damage being better now because it can be redirected.

This sounds like a silly way to use the card.
