I don't actually agree with that fully.

Sometimes, you get a card reprinted in foil where there was previously no foil version (Flusterstorm, Brainstorm, Dark Ritual, for example). Most people would say those foil versions are more pimp than the nonfoil original print run cards.

I'm a little weird in that sometimes, I'll just like the reprint art more. A big example of this one for me is the promo Path to Exile vs the foil Shards. I do recognize though that the foil Shards is considered more pimp - that one is just a personal preference of mine. In general, I do like foils from the first version they're available from as is typical of most people who like foils.

on rare ocasion the Starburst at the bottom doesnt bother me if the card has the old bordern as cards with the older border are typically more vibrant. for example, the judge dark confidant has the original picture which is the preferred and the border makes the card really pop while is on the field instead of just look dark. The foils with the newer borders often look dark instead of shiny and thats one of my main complaints with the new border foils.

Oh yeah, original foils hold their value better.... take the rav lands as an example. Foil rav lands are about double their reprint counterparts. Not to mention that their artwork is better imo.

I am all for original foil cards, however I am not a fan of the future sight boarder, so a foil goyf in MMA is sexier in my opinion, but to each their own.
