I think if you go foil which by its refractive / reflective nature says LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME! Using foils given away or "won" at FNM by beating children at standard is a little weak.

But I don't like foil to begin with so I'm hopelessly biased. Anyway regardless there is an ignore feature, of which many people have used on me I'm sure. If somebodies posts of FNM foils truly burn your corneas, or if you have korean and russian cards you can just ignore them.

That's pretty fabulous!

FnM foils are lame in a sense, but I like some of the arts on them. I don't pimp my decks, but if I did I would use whatever art/language I think is nicest. I'm not a huge fan of foils unless they have some sweet portion of the art that makes it cool (like foil Elesh Norn). Some people like foil, some people like foreign, some people like altered, some people like Original Printing. It's all up to whoever is making the deck. If I'm happy with it, I could give a fuck less what someone else thinks.

You don't start out by pimping the most expensive stuff, but work your way up.

In fact I think that the exact opposite approach is much more better. You spend your 1-5k on the most expensive stuff and since then the whole pimping process is a piece of cake. Except that nobody does it like that...

I wholeheartedly support Lemnear. Though I don't really like the Modern frame and foils are imao plain disgusting (moreover when WotC can't make them well, so they bend, etc.; the buserants even have the courage to haze tournament crowd when their very own product bends), otoh I really like the uniformous look of the one-frame-to-rule-them-all because I also dislike mixed frames/signatures/languages.

Also - and this is in no means directed at one particular poster, trust me - it's pretty harsh and not really wise to mock someone's deck and then present just a wall of text, moreover one that clearly won't pleas every eye, see Italian FBB.


I sold some cards yesterday and as I have quite some (unexpected) money, I'm thinking of purchasing some pimp stuff. As my one and only deck will be Canadian Thresh, I thought that I may finally finalize it. But... here's something to consider:
I really start to massively dislike the language, frame and border mixes. While there's hardly anything one can do about frame (if you play competitively) and the full-BB borders are also not really easy/cheap (btw, I'd play full-WB deck in a minute, but alas, there are not many Goyfs with white borders), the languages are a bit different - you may have a deck completely in one language: simply choose English. Otoh, there's no question that it's the most boring possibility, and I'd also feel like a complete moron if I'd de-japanize and de-chineze my deck right after I acquired $ 100 of new asian cards, not to mention I'd pity the many other asian cards I already own and play for several years.

So, basically I'm questioning whether I should revert back to basics and simply use a complete-Eng deck (and throw away all the jap/chi/kor) stuff or if I should just say "bah, screw the style" and keep the asian stuff, improve the English one wherever possible (read: of course no FoW and duals, but also no Goyfs) and laugh at the pimp police.

Mirrodin Moxen and Lorwyn Ponder as well as the Timespiral stuff look simply ugly Artwise, what's why I choose the other versions. On Probe I already mentioned, that NPH ones have a better picture.

In your list I can also see a lot of cards available in a "much better Version", starting with your italian Duals which are by far the cheapest FBB and could also be Beta or Summer, as well as the whole cards could be in Japanese FOIL too blahblah. I still think it's pointless to debate on such stuff or seriously pick on people.

Summer duals may not even exist in a complete playset. it would be unreasonable to think that anyone could even acquire a playset of 1 type of dual. Therefore I'm not sure why they were even mentioned. If I'm wrong about the scarcity let me know but I have been policing ebay for cards for a long time and I havent seen that many roll through there.

I agree, personally, but a lot of people don't have the funds to pay upfront for all beta/alpha duals... And 1 bb english and 3 wb english duals just doesn't cut it :D!

Know what? I already thought about the latter. It'll be sooo funny! I once layed my eyes upon all-WB Affinity, but it's nothing compared to my project... An all-WB Threshold would be hilarious!

First of all I think, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you definitely can see, if someone spended a lot of time adjuncted a bunch of money (most of the time) in his deck and that`s it what makes it unique and "PIMP". Doesn`t matter if someone goes with Jap, Jap Foils, foreign languages or even all white boarded (nice idea) and so on... we all know it.

I am sure, that I`am pretty alone with my kind of Pimp taste here,... I putting together T.E.S at the moment. I like it clean and "antique", so I go for all over English (German player, so the pimp police might legitimate, because it`s a foreign language for me ), Arabian Nights + Beta, some signed and altered stuff and at the end Beta Duals, but for now Unlimited Duals have to do the job.

Btw: Really nice looking T.E.S Lemnear, pics of mine will be coming end of the month, when it`s done.

As I already said, foil onslautght polluteds are the next objective.
Also, about the Italian FBB discusion.. I think that Italian should be more pimp than German, as Italian was the first FBB version (you can see it in the tap symbol, Italian is the only language that still has the 'T'). And yes, I prefer Italian FBB than revised, even if it's in another language. The rest of the deck is 100% English.
