What it takes to be a pimp:
1. Knowing the right people.
2. Have the money
Not one or the other, but both.

So I have a dilema and was curious what you all thought on the matter. GP DC is coming up and some great Legacy cards artists will be in attendance. I have a nice set of dual lands that I use in Legacy, along with fetch lands to match. I personally think getting cards signed is cool, and I like the look of it. What is everyone's opinion on getting expensive cards signed by the artists, be is dual lands, fetches, or high $ cards (something like a Candelabra or Tabernacle)?
I am leaning towards getting my duals and stuff signed, since I personally like it and it adds a nice little story to the "pimp"ness of the deck. The only real concern I have is that signed cards sometimes LOSE value in secondary markets and if I ever want to sell out of Magic, I am wondering how big of a chunk I will lose cus some guy wrote his name on my pieces of cardboard.
Thanks.
If you can sell to the right guy, you'll lose nothing.
Emptying the Warrens: So YOU don't have to!
If they are just revised duals and english fetches then you aren't really dealing with much value. If you take the time to sell to individual parties you'll get more, a dealer might be less interested in your signed stuff because of the limitations of shit like tcg, amazon and crystal commerce.
If you are talking beta/alpha duals I might think a little harder and the decision would be based on whether you consider that stuff to be something you'll basically never sell. I don't intend on selling my stuff a nd love metallic ink so I get my stuff signed. I think it looks sweet and those who don't can eat an AIDS sandwich.
Also:
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

where do you get these sweet matts?
They are just Revised English Duals as well as English boring fetches, so I don't think I will lose that much (if any) on them. I personally LOVE the signatures (Alexander has a badass looking one). I have a Volcanic Island signed in my TES deck, and I think getting as much signed personally (not trading/buying signed) adds personal sentimental nonsense value to it. In twenty years when I hand my Underground Sea down to my ungrateful-unborn child (who will probably complain about how they are not Beta/Alpha), I can tell the story of how I got it signed personally after donking out of GP DC.
I'd get them signed. I like signatures but hate to have part of a playset signed and the other part unsigned. Because of this, I might go for 2 playsets of beta duals. However, I will only pick up already signed beta stuff... I don't have the balls to have someone sign minty beta cards.

Here is a preview for my Signed Beta set 2013-Version.
There are still some cards that are on their way and the scanning is one hell of a job.
Trying to finish the 13-version by Mid December.

Why are they upside down? I would love to know who/where/how you acquire all this stuff.
Whenever I see a kid in a wheelchair it makes me a little sad. Because I always think, "Gee, they could have used those same wheels to make a bike for a regular kid. What a waste."
