I can't remember what my first singles purchase was, I know my first trip to Dragon's Den was boosters. They had a limit on Arabian Nights packs or like 3 per person. So I got my grandfather and my uncle to buy some, as well as some uninterested friends who were buying GW stuff. I know I bought some Mind Twists before my first tourney after finding out I could only play 1 Sol ring, 1 icy and 1 egg. I ended up not playing them because ... well black Vise.

I've been following this thread for a long time and seen a lot of pimp stuff but despite their lower value beta gauntlets are incredibly pimp IMO. You just don't see them anywhere, let alone in a deck somewhere. Wish there was a deck that could abuse them...

I run a beta Guantlet of might in my mono-red Dragon EDH deck. :) Actually it's probably the best card in the deck. Something about having that plus Beta Shivan Dragon in play feels very rewarding.

I have weird thing for hashed high end cards. Torn, burnt, sharpied, etc. (that ink transfer tax paper Karakas, I still want that)

So, I got the Volc from ebay early last year. A few weeks later, I saw the seller was selling this Trop. We were discussing a price for me to pay outside of ebay (shame on me). A few hours before I was going to send the money ( was at work), someone bought it off of ebay. This bothered me for months, eventually I'd forget about it. Then someone would ask me about my Volc and I'd have to tell the story about the trop and it'd bring that feeling back up.

Eventually I got sick of not owning the card and attempted to track it down. I thought I was way in over my head on trying to find it as the seller wasn't going to disclose any names. I ended up finding it just a few hours after I started my search. Go figure.

If you know me (Matt and Koby can attest to this), I love this Volc and having the Trop is just a cherry on top. Sadly it's not sharpied like it once was, but still nice to have. I'm told there is a Beta Taiga out there with the same sharpie design, but I haven't seen any pictures of it.


I have some other gnarly beta duals in the works that even make myself cringe. Hopefully I'll be posting pictures of said cards soon.

You should make your own. All you need is some unaltered Beta duals, a Sharpie, and an unsteady hand.

gold ink signed Chains of RHBM? or any arab, antiquity, dark or legend card ... also gold ink signed hymns and miscut high tides are all fine.
