Hardly earth-shattering to say that your preference is to go for the 100% guaranteed wincon versus one that is less certain to achieve victory.

I understand people who don't run ad nauseam but 1 empty the warrens to have a early-win condition.
Empty main is - as you said - a great tool to have in g1 when your opponent doesn't even have any answers to green men.

Would run 15 again, lands are actually the worst cards in the deck because you cannot get rid if them when they are sitting in your hand to get hellbent :D
I feel like having 14,5 lands might be the perfect number, probably.
Running the 16th land in the sideboard is also an option, say tropical island.

After reading my post again it sounds like 2 ad nauseams are awesome - they are not !
None of the before mentioned business spell is "awesome", awesome would be 7 infernal tutor.
You want seven tutors, better Ad Nauseams and lands are actually terrible? Hm.

But on the other hand, no one wants to run Rite of Flame or a wishboard.

    Quick tourney report

    played a 6 rounder, ending with a 3-3 result

    RD1 vs Sneak and Show
Game 1: Played tropical island and volcanic island for the first few turns pretending to be RUG delver. Opponent played around "soft counters". Baited Ad naus end of turn to FOW. Then went for PIF in my turn. W
Game 2: Got greedy and didn't flashback cabal therapy when I already knew that he had Emrakul in hand. Opponent rips Sneak attack and kills me. L
Game 3: Mulligan to 5 or 6. Came short to naturally killing him with tendrils after Show and Tell to Grizzy. L

    0-1

    RD2 vs UW Stoneblade
Game 1: Drew lots of rituals and discard spells. Just allowed him to counter all my rituals while discarding some threats. Opponent was able to slam a Jace down and fate seal me when both of us were hellbent. Was able to top deck an infernal tutor for the pif win. W
Game 2: Opponent boarded in CB packaged, but was able to answer it with abrupt decay. Was able to with against sensei's top with natural tendrils with PIF (twice hitting him with tendrils).W
    1-1

    RD3vs UG Infect
    Game 1: 3 turn Kill W
Game 2: 4 turn Kill (lethal infect next turn) W
    2-1

    RD4 vs MUD
    Game 1: turn 1 chalice, turn 2 trini. L
Game 2: decayed a chalice and bounced a lodestone golem, then went off. W
Game 3: had the option of decaying a trinisphere or a chalice. Went for trinisphere. End up drawing chain of vapor and got beaten down by a pair of golems. L
    2-2

    RD5 vs Dredge
Game 1: Opponent discards the fuck out of my hand turn 1 with narcos. L
Game 2: Got to cabal therapy the discard outlets and win around turn 4. W
Game 3: Turn 1 Iona with zombie tokens. L
    2-3

RD6 vs Pattern of Rebirth Combo
    Game 1: Turn 2 Kill . W
    Game 2: Turn 1 Kill . W
    3-3

Played the "standard" 60 with 7 MD discard and 3 preordains. SB was the following:
    3 Dread of Night
    3 Abrupt Decay
    3 Dark Confidant
    3 Flusterstorm
    2 Chain of Vapor
    1 Empty the Warrens

Just heard that there were 3 MUD players and at least 3 DNT players in the tourney. I might add more permanent hate to answer MUD. Or just play delver on the next tourney. Any tips vs MUD? I'm planning to add 1 more chain of vapor in the SB.

Overall, I liked the deck's feel and am very optimistic with playing the deck moving forward despite the ugly result.

    Cheers

If your going to see MUD regularly and want to play ANT still, you will need more dedicated hate in your sb than a third chain of vapor. Something like 2-3 Hurkyl's Recall. Otherwise just consider that matchup an autoloss or play a different deck altogether. Pretty bad match up it is. Probably one of ANT's worst in legacy.

Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo

Hi, i'm new to the source! I'm an ANT player since november 2012, and after playing the burning wish version for a long time and having some good results, i've decided to run the deck without them, playing preordains. I've tested in cockatrice winning 26 of 31 matches, so i'm pretty happyy with the changes!

I'm building my sideboard and ive got some doubts: I've tested pyromancer, and the truth is that only does a great job against miracles, so i think i won't play them anymore since i've got xantid swarm and abrupt decay to face this MU and are useful in lots of pairings too. I think i'll run this:

4 xantid swarm (I completely love them!)
    4 dread of night
    3 abrupt decay
    2 chain of vapor
    2 tormod's crypt

What do you think about this choice? I've seen that some people is running 1-2 karakas to deal with hatebears and reanimator/show and tell, has everybody tested it? I'd like to know too you opinion of playing senseis divining top in the deck:)

thanks for the answer, and congrats to kai for the results in prague!

Your sideboard seems alright, though I would consider changing the 4th dread of night to massacre. Many times against death and taxes I lock them out of their white x-1s with Dread of Night only to lose to their revokers.

As for playing Karakas, I don't think you need it for hatebears with what you have in the sb already. Probably would help against reanimator (though every piece of hate against that deck is welcome :D). You don't need Karakas for Sneak and Show. They are usually slower than reanimator that you have time to either go off or prevent them from going off. I have found the matchup pretty even actually, maybe even in ANT's favor slightly.

On sensei's divining top, I like it as a one of and have been playing it for a long time. It probably depends on what you're going for in the main deck. It's good for long grindy games but it is a slow card by nature so sometime it's not what you want.

Congrats to all of the ANT pilots!
It saddens me that I couldn't come - at least I showed up for a twenty minutes of a chatter with a pair of friends -, but otoh, you'd be much less happy, as I'd like totally annihilate all of you with my antiANT pile!

And Slosh, are you going to write anything about your weekend, or will you just hide in a shell as usual?
Btw, I'd be EXTREMELY interested in your experiences with piloting RUG. Unless I'm mistaken, it was the first time in your life when you tapped a green creature other than Xantid Swarm, amirite?

Yeah, I wanted to introduce you to Kai so that someone believes you exist , but the pairings got up... you're the one hiding

I attacked with a Painter on Green in 2010 if it counts...

I was surprised Thresh was fun and powerful, but honestly should have played Storm to heat(hen) up, I was too ambicious, played a deck other than Storm for a second time in 2 years to mislead my opponents, dropped early on friday to get sleep.. and still.. major letdown... both deck and I fucked up

Sure I can, but It would be waste of both my and readers time, neither of the forums is interested in 3-3 reports... the weekend belonged to others and I'm happy ANT took it down, I won't contrast with my weeps of unlucky, topdeck & company...
