I think Wizards still haven't realised how big the playerbase boom was in recent years, and doing a piss poor job of satisfying demand.
I mean when I can move so-called EDH Jank like Phyrexian Altar or Idyllic Tutor for 12 bucks in a heartbeat, that have been rotting in a shoebox for 2 years from jank drafts, that should make one think.
And it's the same about competitive formats, you can be over the moon that the recent Modern GP was 2400 players, but one has to wonder how big the tournament could have been had we had staples like fetches and Bobs and Cliques in the 15-20$ range not in the 50-60$s.
People are saying that a Yugioh style reprint policy would completely collapse prices, but at this rate I think they could reprint stuff like Tarmogoyf at uncommon and they would still carry a hefty price tag.
I'd love to see a reprint of ONS fetches, maybe I'll build some WG hotness for Morden.
However, I'd also love to see:
- a new cycle of Mirage fetches, this time in enemy colors
- a new cycle of triple lands similar to Murmuring Bosk
- a new cycle of cheap duals with basic land types, and by cheap, I mean really cheap, something that bad that it could occupy the uncommon slot.
All these things got their merit.
The Mirage cycle is unfinished for nearly two decades. It's an insult to the whole MtG community!
Triple lands might or might not be finished, as the Bosk is quite exceptional, otoh, LRW block is long gone, so it's not like there¨s some trouble flavour-wise.
While the last idea might seem silly, I think that for the EDH purpose (and all the poor people out there), a cycle of cheap duals that might be found by (cheap) fetches should be done. I know that etb tapped is the most obvious drawback and the most usual, so if WotC could invent something more thrilling, I'm fine with it. But now I'm really satisifed with something like "land - basic type basic type; etb tapped, opponent gains one life".
But back to the ONS fetches: they should reprint them.
edit: What's the general opinion on Krosan Verge in other colours?
The thing about reprinting the ONS fetches is that Wizards has already shown hesitation towards reprinting expensive cards, they do stuff like reprint a single, kind of expensive card like Thoughtsieze, or release a couple of them in a limited set like modern masters, which even still only had Goyf, Confidant and Clique. Reprinting that many cards in a regular set would be unprecedented.
IIRC shock lands were getting up into the $30s and $40s before they reprinted all of them in the new rav blocks. I'm not sure what their true opinion is on the matter, but at the very least I think reprinting necessary lands is far more reasonable than just reprinting every expensive card.
Yeah, but the cheapest ONS fetch is about as expensive as the most expensive shockland pre-reprint, and Polluted Delta is reaching goyf levels. Don't get me wrong, I think they should have reprinted them a long time ago, but after being disillusioned by Wizards' handing of reprints for the most part, I wouldn't be surprised if they find another way to slowly increase supply but not enough to have any effect on prices.
Not sure what you're getting at. Speculation was high that Marsh Flats would appear in the Modern Event Deck, but that sure didn't happen. Fetches will either be in Khans, or they'll be in Modern Masters 2, or they'll be in some set to be named in the future, or they won't be coming back at all and WOTC will just be printing more Caves of Koilos.
does everyone agree that at some point Wizards will reprint the ONS fetches for modern
it seems crazy that they would only have half of the fetches in such an important format
in that case it's a matter of when
from Wizards side they will reprint when they need to sell a block
like they did shocks in ravnica post kamigawa
the last two sets in theros didn't sell that well so it may be time
or they may wait a couple more blocks
i wonder whether the reprinting will increase the values of the originals
probably not but they probably won't crash either

I believe that Modern is why they won't reprint them in any kind of normal set. WotC has mentioned in the past the problem with mana being too good in formats that aren't truly Eternal, and I don't think they'll reprint the ONS fetches in a Modern-legal set because of their hesitance to make Modern's mana even better.
Maro has said on his blog that Wizards will not print half land sets in blocks anymore. He also quite blatantly said, when fetches are reprinted, they will be as a set of ten.
Edit. Auto correct.
Maybe in the next block, but none of the comments Maro has made has said they planed to hold Core sets to the same rules as they will blocks.
Well that clears up fetches, but hmm. I wonder how this applies to (other) sets which are/were strictly 5 before they later became 10? Talking about painlands, checklands, and so on. They just printed the enemy-only painlands in m15 right? So it seems a bit discretionary.
The issue is, when the choice is made and when a set is decided can be at two different points. So M15 could have been set a year ago and the change to set printing rule made 6 months ago.
Also, as far as I can remember, it was to be a "From this point on" thing with no promises of looking at past incomplete sets.
Edit.
Fuck you auto correct.
