I'm not sure what the advantage is to playing treasure cruise over divining top.
Pro: you are more flexible concerning the mana (single U) and get 3 cards.
Con: sorcery speed only and not "2 out of 7"
Slow speed is ok (for me), because often there is some kind of gap in my play and mana curve, so casting it in my turn is just fine. Against heavy discard decks the additional card is really great, and usually you are fine after 3 extra cards and have found something sweet
I was musing on how best to utilize colorless / colored mana balance that is seriously strained in the Boat build, and I happened upon this elegantly simple and great solution:
// Lands
2 [TSP] Vesuva
4 [SOM] Glimmerpost
4 [FNM] Cloudpost
1 [WWK] Eye of Ugin
1 [LG] Karakas
4 [R] Tropical Island
4 [ZEN] Misty Rainforest
1 [IA] Glacial Chasm
3 [ON] Polluted Delta
3 [LRW] Island (1)
// Creatures
4 [M12] Primeval Titan
1 [ROE] Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 [ROE] Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
3 [UL] Cloud of Faeries
// Spells
3 [UL] Crop Rotation
4 [MM] Brainstorm
4 [KTK] Treasure Cruise
2 [US] Show and Tell
2 [AQ] Candelabra of Tawnos
4 [ZEN] Expedition Map
3 [GP] Repeal
2 [ON] Chain of Vapor
// Sideboard
SB: 1 [NPH] Spellskite
SB: 4 [AL] Force of Will
SB: 4 [CMD] Flusterstorm
SB: 4 [IA] Hydroblast
SB: 1 [WWK] Bojuka Bog
SB: 1 [EVE] Glen Elendra Archmage
I don't know. It seems like if you can get it out early, turn 1 or 2 that top is superior. You can lean on it the whole game. Combo with repeal? Saves itself if targeted? I have been trying out the topless build, and even swapped out TC for FOW. Either way you decide to go, some draw power does smooth things out. Brainstorm helps, but doesn't seem to be there when you want it most.
Gitaxian Probe does the same thing...
Actually, that'd be an interesting comparison because it's a body/mini-mini Candelabra vs Peek.
"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void, empty, and become wind."
I did about 20 games with the tc build, lost all but 2 of them. Granted i am a terrible player but still. I'm going back to the unknown meta build and tweaking that accordingly; maybe I'm not mature and skilled enough to handle a build as intricate as the tc version.
Noob question.
Has Flagstones Of Troarker or something of the sort been experamented with?
"Let go your earthly tether. Enter the void, empty, and become wind."
The right person to ask would probably be John Kassari, who played (or still does play?) "mono-green" 12-Post, which has a very small white splash in the sideboard (like, a single Savannah) to get access to Rest in Peace. I also played his list a while back and I think the effect would be pretty marginal. The deck also ran Gaddock Teeg, which can be hardcast with the singleton land - which you can fetch for - or more typically brought into play with Green Sun's Zenith. The deck also played Leyline of Sanctity which, yeah, you aren't going to hardcast. Flagstones is a nice enough land, but unless you were going to commit more heavily to white, I don't really see a use for it.
Also, maybe I'm part retarded or my brain is broken or something, but this is exactly how I feel goldfishing Rock's new list:

I'm sorry, man. I suck at this :P
MORE USEFUL EDIT: Here was Kassari's list from June. I forgot about Sacred Ground, but still, it's a small splash: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deck...p?DeckID=69125
went 2-1 tonight in weekly Legacy with this list:

Lost to Tim Harding in the finals playing Omni-tell. Of course, a horrible matchup, but he trollingly brings it to weeklies that are oversaturated with 12post to go stomping. He offered to split, but noway! I'd rather win or lose with all the marbles on the table. Got smashed though. The deck would have to warp more than current to beat omni regularly, but it certainly has a fighting chance.
how is he death blade / esperblade matchup?
This deck is something I'm considering for GP NJ
Play 4 Card Blind!
Currently Playing
Legacy: Dark Depths
EDH: 5-Color Hermit Druid
Currently Brewing: [Deck] Sadistic Sacrament / Chalice NO Eldrazi
why cards are so expensive...hoarders
Hey rock lee, After looking at your side boards your meta is clearly a lot of red decks, like 5 hydroblasts. What list would you play a the next big event that you would expect a more diverse meta, like scg nj any idea what your list would look like for that?
Very winnable, i'd say 60/40 for us, but a lot depends on your skill and their skill. I wouldn't honestly suggest to take this monstrousity to a long and exhausting tournament like a GP without a previous heavy playtesting, since the lines of play are very intricate and it's easy to miss some of them if you're not accustomed to this deck.
Guilty. CT meta can be pretty warped with post hate bc of Rock Lee and I going to up to 4 weeklies. Every now and then I like to punish people for meta gaming to the point of boarding winter orb, Armageddon, mono-green 12 post and other garbage. It works haha.
I don't think we really need to care much about omni, it's a pretty shaky strategy and rare enough for me to accept as a rough MU. You really need to warp to beat it reliably, so I'll leave that job to delver lol.
Also, many of you seem to forget that: IRL testing > Theory Crafting. Sure, treasure cruise wasn't wonderful in your imaginary playtest on your drive to work - but what value does that really have? I think I saw Rock cast TC 5 times as he 2-0'd that new UR deck handedly. While I'm not sold on it, it does actually work in the deck. "Don't knock it until you test it". Meaning - play games of actual magic the gathering with varying opponents in real life - for all you philosophers out there.
