Delve does not reduce manacost of spell, so I don't expect return of Spell Snare.
Anyway nice changes.
Probably the same reasons that those cards made it past playtesting in the first place.
Not so much. Derp through time is a card for more "skill testing" decks. So, do all the decks using 4x Treasure Cruise yesterday simply scratch them for Dig?
Worldgorger Dragon also seems like a strange choice. I guess they're pushing for creatures.
Shardless BUG is irrelevant in this meta because it has too many dead cards against combo now. Lists running white for Swords to Plowshares have gotten a bit of a bump, since you really need to plow that Worldgorger Dragon with it's enter the battlefield trigger on the stack. Lists running Spell Snare (and there will be a bunch of those now) will try to cut the combo off at the pass, although they'll need more counters to protect their snares. I expect Uw aggro-control to make a comeback because it will have both options available.
They're also going to need some kind of ruling on the Worldgorger interaction as it applies to slow play, since it is an infinite combo once it starts. Maybe, the person playing it will have to have some way to actually use the combo or it fizzles after an interaction. WotC has tended to frown upon devices that produced non-productive infinite loops or that were intentionally used to stall games for advantage.
TC ban was needed. Let's see how DTT turns out. Back to 70+% Brainstorm meta anyway. Pack your Choke, boys!
I'm also really glad I sold off all my expensive Pod-exclusive cards last week at the highest point right before the price drop. LUCKY!
While it's true that WGD kinda pales compared to Grizzeldaddy as reanimation target, wasn't part of the problem its logistics with being able to force draws?
DnT is not "a beating" to miracles. DnT vs Miracles is about 50-50 (if equally skilled pilots). It's nothing like delver, where DnT is like 70-30 to beat them.
Dig is not as good as TC. It always costs 2, and it only get's you two cards. It's way less busted with Pyromancer and Swiftspear.
Hmmm, has Animate Dead's Oracle text been changed in a way that the combo is no longer infinite?
Specifically referring to the requirement that Animate Dead be sacrificed if it leaves the battlefield? That would suggest that it will be in the GY and not the exile zone and it is unclear that WGD returns it when he goes to the GY.
A step in the right direction. Given my low expectation of wizards I am positively surprised.
Curious how the format post TC will look like.
How strong will the BUG delver / Esper blade comeback be as you can play without red-blast again?
Can another control deck abusing DTT emerge as U/R is less of a threat?
Will miracles benefit? -

Glad I bought foil Digs not Cruises,
While everyone believes they have me pegged as a "Brainstorm hater," I am pretty pleased with this announcement.
First, I think unbanning Worldgorger is a great step. While it seems innocuous, I think it's a great move to at least pretend to show an interest in taking off the random nonsense on the list.
Second, while I disagree with their methodology at managing Blue, it was clear something had to be done. A missed opportunity in a way I think, but it's better than the dreaded, "No Changes."
Looks like they decided to drop a bomb on Modern, which makes sense, they didn't want it to even be a Pro Tour format this year because it was stale. Not surprising they decided to blow it up since people bitched and made them include it.
As for Vintage, all I can say is yes. Gifts should have been off the list a while ago. Just bought myself 2 more foil copies, so it's time to get to work.

UW Delver, SFM, a third threat that complements them in the mid-range area.
UW SFM, Stiflenought, Standstill-manlands and Manifest in some form.
UW CounterTop with threats to force the issue earlier.
I think UW was the big winner here and Miracles is certainly in the winner's bracket.
See, even Wizards understood this. There is hope...Originally Posted by Wizards
I was of the same impression. Seems like such a random unban and it feels like there were better options like Mind Twist or Black Vise. Still, I am excited to see how it will turn out.
It was the easy card to ban, making the least amount of people to be butthurt. Had TC been printed in Ice Age and Brainstorm in Khans, we would have seen Brainstorm become banned.
Anyway, I am glad the DCI did do something by banning TC. It at least gives the impression that they seem to care about Legacy. Maybe not a lot but at least a little bit. I am genuinely surprised in a positive way!
I think we are going to see a lot more Team America again, they were the Delver deck that took the least out of TC.
This +1.
With mainlist Diabolic Edict's? I am thinking that BUG gained with TC going away and lost with WGD coming back. You *must* have a way to remove a creature at instant speed now. Not a little creature, a big creature. Diabolic Edict meets the test but you can't cast it on the draw on your opponent's turn 2.
Swords to Plowshares is in almost every list running white. I'm pretty sure that percentage is going to go up now.
I too had the cynical expectation of something retarded like "Shardless Agent - Banned" and that's it.
On WGD; I think another issue with it is we have Sanctity now as well as the Hexproof Bear; meaning the infinite mana line has a reasonable chance of being unavailable.
Abrupt Decay, DRS, and the rampant Stifling should keep the deck in check, let alone Reanimator probably just being better.
That said, I didn't have any issues with the meta before; so the banning of TC means we get to see the Khans meta without it; which seems fine. It means the derpiest deck is gone and we can focus on more interesting problems than "Lol, daze myself three times and swing for 12" kinds of plays. It's unfortunate that YP will possibly fall back into obscurity, but if it takes Recall to break him; I guess that would make sense.
Did anyone notice that WotC once more executed their usual "prisoner exchange" for the Eternal formats? Everytime a card gets banned, another random card gets off the list.
I'm not sure Gorger does anything or anything positive for the format

Not happy, but TC was idiotic, I'm not going to miss it... reading through the Modern explanation I'm really happy they don't care about legacy, still leaves me bitter how they handle unbans - unbanned? - nothing, oh wait vintage, so 1.
