    3 Phantasmal Image
    4 Silvergill Adept
    4 True-Name Nemesis

    10 Island

    3 Standstill
    4 Daze
    4 Force of Will
    4 Aether Vial
That's not very far off from the deck I'm going to run in Indy, at least in a philosophical sense. I would absolutely say though that you probably don't want 8 man lands, and that playing with Daze without Wasteland is far worse than playing with Daze with Wasteland. Standstill + Aether Vial has always been good, there's no need to play bad man-lands to try to justify it.

Having a beautiful decklist is somewhere on the bottom of my priorities.
4 Daze on 10 Islands is not going to work.
If you plan to have bad manlands then at least max out on Standstill.

I tested a bit with standstill. I think its the future of the deck. It's really good vs. BUG and other Midrange decks. I played 3xWastelands 1xMishra's factory.

    [Deck] Merfolk

I've recently cashed out on all my legacy staples for a deck that is cheap enough and can be used for both eternal formats. Any suggestions would be nice, including maindeck chalice's viability vs aether vail in current meta. I also cashed in on my wastelands, are those a necessity now? Finally, I can't see the advantage of playing daze if you only have four vials. Is dazing something worth it if you don't have an active vial, seems like a huge tempo loss.

I think Chalice's are not necessary anymore after the TC banning. We have a big comeback from BUG Decks and I prefer to play threats or standstill in this slot. If you want to play I would try to push it in the SB. Daze can be so good answering things you cant handle well I would never cut them. When you play the Daze you need to play the 4x Wasteland

btw here is a list without Daze and Wasteland : http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=8896&d=250743&f=LE

That is my Standstill list. I relay love Standstill in the "slow" meta (BUG, Miracles, Omni and Stoneblade). I would like to play 2+mishra's factory but I can't fit it in

I must ask, if we run AEther Vial, not drawing it turn 1 and drawing it later is terrible. I am using 4 Tidal Warriors and 4 Spreading Seas, running the 22-land version and it seems more controlling then the Vial version. Has anyone tested this? I have been Imaging my Tidal Warriors aggressively and winning in a delver like matter using TNN.

I just don't see Vial strategy in being the better strategy. Is this just me?

Isn't it the same in d and t? I think the upside far outweighs the negative, no? I played d and t so I know I'm that deck, but it is crucial, though d and t definitely has more creatures to flash in for major effects.

Weee... Europe is starting its own quasi SCG circuit.
    Humble beginnings but beginnings anyway.
    Finally!

That is an interesting strategy. I'll have to play around with that. Is there room for Wasteland in that build too in order to turn the screws tighter?

Has anyone tested or discussed reality shift as the long awaited blu removal against goyf/moms/mystics/delver/ecc.. ?

Reality Shift is utter trash unfortunately. If we wanted that effect Pongify or Rapid Hibridization would be better, but we are not.
Gut Shot, Dismember, Submerge and Echoing Truth are still tier1.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

So, here in Japan there was a major Legacy event (290 players) sponsored by SCG and merfolk took top 8. It is a strange list with both vial and chalice present in the main deck. It also features one of merfolk that bounces creatures and other interesting choices. What are your thoughts? I do sense that this deck (having played almost all stoneforge variant for years) is much more powerful than people give credit and small innovations like this could push it up to tier 1. As a baby merfolk player, any input would be nice. Decklist is listed on mtgpulse.

He really decided to not lose to Show and Tell this tournament :)
Image, Bouncer, Venser and of course powerhouses like Ensnare and Choking Tethers.
I wish he comes here and writes a report.

Waterfront Bouncer is great at making use of those dead and extra Vials and Chalices in your hand.

Split the legacy finals today for first place. Good thing we did since he dismantled me for fun afterwards (elves).
Beat elves, uwr blade and ant before the draw. Only 16 people showed up (no top8) since 19 more played fnm at the same time.
Played 3 Chalice in the main and it is still great.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

So I'm seeing winning lists here in Japan as well as Europe run a singleton v-clique. What matchups other than show and tell does that help in? I'm thinking about investing in one of people think it's a good direction to go.

Also against some of the blade decks you can also take away their equipment when they try to use sfm. It's a good card all around.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

    Hi all,

I didn't post for a while because I had no chance to play legacy, but I top 32 the 700 players SCG premier IQ in Baltimore yesterday with the following list:

    4 Cursecather
    4 Silvergil Adept
    4 Lord of Altlantis
4 Master of the Pearl Trident
    4 Phantasmal Image
    4 True-Name Nemesis

    4 Aether Vial
    4 Force of Will
    4 Daze
    3 Standstill

    4 Mutavault
    3 Mishra’s Factory
    3 Cavern of Souls
    11 Islands

    Sideboard

    3 Dismember
    1 Pithing Needle
    1 Relic of Progenitus
    2 Grafdigger’s Cage
    1 Echoing Truth
    2 Flusterstorm
    2 Swan Song
    3 Chalice of the Void

The field was much less favorable than I hoped (played no Miracles, no BUG and only a single Delver deck) but I stil went 6-3, losing to Elves, Maverick and Death & Taxes. I felt I could have done a bit better by navigating better my white Stoneforge matches (won 2, lost 2), I need to improve that in the future. The 75 was fine, but I'll keep tinkering with it. If I had to play tomorrow, I'll possibly go -1 Standstill, +1 Clique. I can post a small report if anyone is interested when I have a bit more time in the coming days.

    Thanks as always!
