it depends on the meta that you are playing... here in my place putting a boseiju mainboard is just wasting 1 slot... it can be wasteland, bloodmoon, or you'd wish that it was an island... try to check the most common decks that you could encounter to your place then deside if mainboard boseiju is ok... and also learn to scout on every tournament to change your build remember to always take your spare card for changes to your deck... scouting is the best key for winning no matter what build or how good you play...

Remember not to cast impulse (use it only if necessary) always hide it to your library. I made my sb a toolbox for high percentage of winning every match...
Instead of Impulse I grab a Split Decision and duplicate the Cunning Wish into False Cure and Beacon of Immortality.

I find that Instand speed win to be more reliable in place of Release the Ants which requires something big on top necessarily.

Hi guys. I'm looking at upgrading my Merfolk into Omnitell! What version of the deck would be best for my meta? Here are the decks that I can expect to be playing on a regular basis. If this doesn't look like an Omni-friendly meta please let me know and I'll reconsider:
    • BUG Delver
    • Burn
    • Affinity
    • Deathblade
    • MUD
    • Miracles
    • Reanimator
    • Maverick
    • Lands
BUG, Burn, Affinity and Deathblade are the most common. In the T4/8 Miracles will usually be present, but there is usually only ever a maximum of one miracles player in our ~14-30 man tournaments.

I've heard some people talk about MUD being hard and while it doesn't seem the easiest it doesn't seem the worst if I put hurklys recall in the side?

I am also willing to splash if I need to :)

    • Burn (favored)
    • Affinity (very favored)
    • Deathblade (list dependant, but often very favored)
    • MUD (super swingy matchup, but overall favored. A hurkyll's recall in the side helps a lot)
    • Miracles (list and pilot dependant. 4-Ponder favored, Legends build even).
    • Reanimator (unfavored, pack some cages in the sideboard to turn it around!)
    • Maverick (favored)
    • Lands (very favored)

The strenght of Omnishow is that it care very little about hate. Wasteland, Thalia, Deathrite Shaman are all cards which we care less about than other combo decks and for this reason I don't think there is any "bad" metagame for it. You can allways tune your list to beat the tougher matchups, nothing is unwinnable. The biggest weakness is actually the deck itself as having a 2-card combo in a deck without any good tutors can be noticed in both your good and your bad matchups. Sometimes we struggle only because show and tell is hiding on the bottom of the deck. For this reason fast decks that also packs a lot of cheap interaction are the worst matchups, namely reanimator and storm. If your meta is full of those you should prioritize cards for these matchups. Other fast decks which we have trouble interacting with (Burn, elves, dredge) can be troublesome but overall we are favored in these matchups. BUG-delver (with discard/wasteland) and U/x-Blade (with meddling mage) can be tough because our normal lines of defense with Boseiju and Defense Grid only stop half of their hate cards (the counterspells). The rest of Legacy are pretty good matchups.

You can find my list on a previous page.

That being said, in a meta with lots of fast non-blue decks you might want to try running a tutor effect as a 1-of or 2-of. Personal Tutor, Burning Wish, Lim-Dul's Vault. Problem is, P.Tutor and LDV are bad cards after Omni resolves because they tutor to top, not into hand. But if all you need in the metagame is a "guaranteed" turn 2/3 SnT into Emrakul, they do improve the consistency of the deck comboing for the first time earlier. If that first attempt gets countered, they do slow the deck down for the second attempt though. So it's a trade-off.

You guys keep saying this is a 2-card combo deck... but isn't it 3?

It's technically 2, because SnT + Omni lets you cast infinite free cantrips/DTTs until you find your formal win con. Since any of many cards can get you there, the only rigid requirement is the 2 cards SnT and Omniscience, though Dream Halls can get you there if you have the card advantage for it.

Nah, when you drop omni, its pretty much game.

In your hand, you should have either 1. cunning wish, 2. DTT, or 3. a cantrip.

You will get your win con

I can imagine though that if you mulled to say 5, and faced discard, that you could very well not have a cantrip/draw spell in hand, though I guess that is kind of corner case.

It is hard to imagine why you guys don't seem very concerned about discard, I guess I'll figure it out more as I playtest!

    1. we got force
    2. we got brainstorm to hide
    3. i think the meta is getting to the point where we should run leyline over just soft counters. Lots of BUG and hymns around.
    4. Some run misdirection, which is devastating to the other player.

Yeah I've got BUG and Nic Fit running around in my meta. Maybe I should be running leylines in the side...? Dunno yet.

I know we aren't favoured in the Sneak/Show match-up but I guess I'm not quite sure why. When a show and tell resolves and we put omni into play, don't we just basically insta-win then? Doesn't our combo go off at instant speed...?

They have the ability to drop grisel via your show and tell. Then they search for 14 cards to counter whatever you try to cast via omni. At that point, you are out of cards to go for another win con

Getting back into legacy after a year and change off. I know DDT is the new hotness with this deck, but why have people gone away from Dream Halls?

Was it purely a space issue? Most of the time I was glad to have a few extra copies of S&T no matter how card disadvantagous it was.
The very fact flamethrowers exist means that someone, somewhere said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire.... but I'm just not close enough to do it."

    Re: [DTB] MonoU OmniTell

-Sneak and Show is an easy opponent if you can check my build to the previous page i have 3 emrakul. 80% of the game that i won is because of SaT-omni-emrakul or SaT-emrakul, the 20% is RtA kill.

-You dont have to worry discard decks like bug or deathblade. I always put 2 flusterstorm, 1 s extraction then remove 2 fow and 1 d halls.

The key to winning is how you interact and synergize to every move you do. If you know how to deal with hard situation you can win easily. Always playtest your deck and also if there are deck that is hard for you to beat make a proxy of that deck and play it. The reason why i told you to make a proxy of decks that is hard for you to beat is because you can know the interaction and gameplay of those decks. For example combo, now i aldeady know that i should spell pierce brainstorm on turn 1 or 2.

FoW is actually pretty bad against Hymn. You lose 2 cards anyhow and 1 of them is a hard counter. Not optimal.

In a heavy black discard meta, I would play MD 3+ copies of Spell Pierce, Flusterstorm and/or Spell Snare (hits Hymn, otherwise limited in use) with 2-3 Divert in the SB. Personally, I prefer Divert over Misdirection since no card disadvantage.

And the fact that for each thoughtseize they resolve you get a discount on your DTT.
Unless they also hit you with a Delver or have a Surgical Extraction as a follow up I am fine with them discarding cards from my hand.
Leyline of Sanctity is allways an option but with Flusterstorm you should have things covered enough. Flusterstorm is favored because it's a great card in itself and work wonders with DTT, both at protecting it and to make it cheaper.

Read the last couple of pages. I think most people have dropped Dream Halls by now. The fact that we prefer flusterstorm over PoN to feed DTT makes it less appealing. DTT is just that good. It warps the whole deck and acts like "extra show and tells". I run Jace in my sideboard to "up" the number aswell. We much rather have 5-6 SnT ofc, but that's not the option unless you dip into red for Burning Wish (which has it's own weaknesses). dream halls is unfortunatly just a bad card :(

Lotus Petal and Gitaxian Probe are both great in feeding the graveyard

    I like 4 of each

If you have any Meddling Mage and/or Surgical Extraction in your meta, I advise you to play either Dream Halls, Burning Wish or Eureka as a back-up.

    Re: [DTB] MonoU OmniTell

Yeah, this deck does feel very weak to Meddling Mage or Surgical Extraction. If people shut down your cunning wish or show and tell with either card, what do you guys do? I guess the three Emrakul plan helps against cunning wish getting removed, but if show and tell gets extracted that is basically game right?
