Birds of Paradise and Wrath of God were amongst the most printed rare cards of all time. And, despite that, they remained "money" cards for their entire duration on the Standard tournament scene. Tarmogoyf is no different.
As long as people still want Tarmogoyfs, their price will continue to climb. If it were printed as a rare, the price might stabilize, but the Modern scene continues to grow beyond what its mythic status is capable of delivering.
I learned Snapcaster is almost a 50$ card these days. Hooray? Don't know how unexpected that was to everyone else though. Also hoping that Zen fetches come down a bit since the return to Zen announcement

Why is master of waves rising so fast? Some people are buying nearly every cheap copy of this card... Stores are empty or nearly sold out.
That's why.
Thanks! But is this card so strong that it justify to buy those really expensive masters? Here in europe they werde sold for 3-4€ and now you have to pay 5-8€ per master.
MTG card speculation has gotten to such an extreme that if a card has any hint of being playable again, people will buy them up en mass.

Quick question, still need to pickup a playset of tarmogoyf, when would be the best time to pull the trigger on these guys? Right after MM2 release? Prefer a Futuresight playset.
Literally the second they drop an inch. Because they won't stay dropped, and will at the very best just stabilize. This might be different if you were interested in picking up MM2 ones because people who go "OH MY GOD TARMOGOYF" out of a pack are always looking to hook you up with good deals, but Future Sight will continue to be Future Sight.
I don't think goyf will really drop much at all, the fact that it is mythic, and the high msrp/selling price of mm2 just factors into the cost of printing it. Even with the low supply of mm1, they didn't exactly fly off the shelves like everyone predicted, and mm2 packs cost more.
Originally I invested in dual lands first, thought it would be the better investment. Not complaining, but I kept Goyf for last hoping the price would drop. Think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet on these guys. Thank god I have a good job lol.
Some nice new Judge foils coming though: Damnation, Ravages of War and Wasteland.
