About three months ago, I had some extra store credit from SCG, and despite phazonmutant's suggestion that I use this to get into Vintage, I made the regrettable decision to go into Modern by building a Pod deck.
After making a ton of trades with a local dealer (Shaun Martin) and buylisting aggressively to a local game store, I have managed to rectify the situation:

I think that shops deck just won the thread.
The one thing I love most in any pimp deck is uniformity, and that definitely takes the cake.
I mentioned this as well but since those 2 are available in the old layout Foil and with their original artwork I decided to go for the Foils :)
Thanks but there were better posts in the past :) I'm happy with what I have since it is the only deck I'm running. Besides I have some maybe-cards as well to build nearly all Stax/MUD builds.

I love old Korean cards. And new foils seem a bit underrated to me compared with Russian.

Instead of just going "zOMG that card is 10x as much as this one, even though it doesn't match the rest of the deck", you stick to japanese (even if not on Karn and wastelands)

Is the same shop deck or another pimp one, anyway, that deck is so beautiful.

Never thought I could contribute here, long time lurker. I don't really feel like anyone would be interested in my RUG Delver in Legacy, with only Revised duals...
Anyway, story time! I caught wind of a guy selling a starter deck of Alpha through someone else in my local game group. I pretty cheaply acquired a starter deck box of Alpha (rulebook included), and a few more cards to bring the total slightly above the 60 advertised on the box. I'm Irish so opportunities like these are extremely rare. My particular city actually had a high street store selling Summer Magic in '94, but unfortunately I was too young to take advantage. A high level judge friend still tells the story of how he sold his Blue Hurricane for pittance.
To the pics - what's really amazing is the pack fresh Alpha mintyness from about 90% of the cards. I was on the lookout for some Beta basic Islands already, I guess I'll have to settle for the 20 or so basics that came in this box

I got this one for about.. 2 Scalding Tarns and 11 dollars when Scalding Tarn shoot through the roof. I've been using it in my Karn deck for some time now and i wonder what they go for.
