Congrats Robert!
haven't played against Mtgo style Grixis control yet looks like an online phenomenon to me... older grixis tempo (Pyromancer+CT+Dark Confidant) was pretty bad though
I'm happy more people like 2 PIF, just don't pull too good results to let it become industry standard, DTB is bad already :)
We have a new MUD player in LGS, several since january I pray to get paired to him to try out the MU but he keeps losing so we never meet =D, finaly yesterday I was paired against him and got a bizzare G1 win him mulliganing down to 3 and then conceding, while I kept a no mana hand on draw, hilarious... G2 it's hard when they topdeck all the hate and waste your G land... G3 nearly lost because he did not play CotV on 0 so I got stuck with a AD in hand and he had Mindbreaktrap (WTF?), obv. won anyway...
speaking of bizzare games, last week I had a G3 vs. Junk, I begun with Mindtwisting myself - swamp+DR+CR into double Confidant, he has land go, I flip for 6 (14), swing for 4 (16) play LP, he plays Cannonist which I AD EoT, I flip for 5 (lol, 9) still no land, swing for 4 (12), he plays Confidant, I flip for 4 (seriously? 5), swing for 4, he does not block (8) flips a goyf (6) ponders and attacks (3) I flip for 2 (1) swing for 4 (2) he flips a SFM =D... obv. I haven't drawn a land in 12 cards and he has no G for goyf...
what I like about this list is this is rarely the case, you just have to feel where to pull the trigger on blind PIF... I gave up on 2 GT after all the lifeloss was too much... are you playing Preordain or SDT?
Thanks a lot Cabal Therapy for your reply, really useful and helpful. I will keep on playing the City, even if, as you say, it' a Miracles narrow card. We can afford playing narrow cards, such Dread of Night, and so on. Also it can become useful against some form of Gold digger UWR or some Landstill if they overload on counters. I'll try it also vs. Grixis Pyromacer (control list, not the tempo one, obviously) if they'll show a decent number of counterspell that are not permissions.
Another thing that I like so much about your sideboard is the Flusterstorm/Extirpate split. I love splitting cards that serve similar purposes, I'm running from a decent amount of time the 1 massacre 1 dread split, and will definitely add a Extirpate to my lone Flusterstorm, to give a shot at this configuration.
About your sleeving strategy, I do the exact oppositeI always buy a different color for my sleeves, just to exit from my comfort zone, it helps me keep on paying attention to cards. But I will give a shot at the stick-to-a-colour strategy
Now, I have a couple of question to ask to all of you:
1) Do you believe the second ToA is still good in the board? UR delver is gone, RUG has lost its appeal in favor of Team America or "4-colour Tasigur Delver", so the only pairing in which I find myself boarding it is Miracles. Maybe I can deal with them with just cities, decays and tops. What do you think about it?
2) Just an in-game situation, it has not a perfect solution I think, I just want to hear your opinion. I was playing against some sort of Zoo, I'm in my turn 3, I'm dead on board, so I need to win this turn. I have plenty of rituals and LEDs in my hand, but still lack a Tutor. I have a Preordain and a Ponder, three lands untapped into play, producing enough coloured mana for double cantrip + dark ritual. Would you go Preordain and then Ponder, to dig 6 card deep, then shuffle and peel the first card, or Ponder first, to dig 3 cards deep, then shuffle, draw and play Preordain for a total of 4 cards depth after the shuffle? Both options grant 7 cards to be saw, but in different ways.
It reminds me when I was 4 or 5 years old and I used to make a ball of plasticine and hide a little piece of something into it, then, to find it, I had to choose between digging in depth in one point or peeling the edges of the ball![]()
Thanks, Martin. Your games indeed sound very strange and atypical but on the other hand one cannot expect good games vs MUD. Especially, I like him conceding in game 1 due to his mulligans.
1) I have to admit that I only played it once and decided that multiple storm spells are a valid strategy but not for me. It got stuck in my hand and I couldn't fire off my Rituals. As you already mentioned Miracles probably is the only heavily played deck against ToA actually is good.
2) That is a good question. The risc with leading with Ponder is that one might randomly draw one of the unwanted cards that went back. I hope I don't miss anything here but I would start with Preordain and follow with Ponder to see fresh 6 cards and then go for Ponder's #yolo draw if needed.

I think always Preordain then Ponder because you see 3 out of X then 3/X-3 then 1/x-1 rather than 3/x then 1/x then 3/x-1 if you keep things realistic, if you'd take all card into account you might get a marginal thin deck scenario where the other is better, but I'd ask myself if there is a Ponder crack LED for U(dumping the preordain) scenerio
Hey guys, a couple of more videos

Hey there, would love to see those games, but I just got a black screen when clicking on your link. (Though I can hear you talking...)
@Nevil
Saw you video vs miracles.
On g1 when you bs min 14 and let on top petal and dr I would have put balands and petal, you needed a fetch next turn. To make anything good. And you found it but had ritual on top. So u wanted to draw. If you just look with swamp and find a cantrip like ponder or preordain or a ferch then you can cast it and shuffle. But so you just lost one full turn making a landrop wich was not needed.
And I also think playing the duress is no sense. From them on each card he draws is castable (jace and balance) and he can control his top. So your best plan Is just to wait on the duress for the combo turn.
And also I would look with top more agresive when jace comes down. Every card you see can be a win.
And you havee spare mana to do so.
I also think that when sideboarding duress is a better card than therapy. Because it gets anything from counters to balance or top. Therapy is not that great when the opponent has like 7 diferent cards that destroy you.
G2
Thats a good keepable hand 100%
Natural empty mana, decay, tutor, cantrips to find land and redo your hand with bs.
When you brainstrorm and find xantid I would have put back petal instead of therapy. If they counter or destroy your xantid you can just draw a mana source and therapy into infernal. And its easier to draw mana than disrruption. Also here why I like more duress than therapy vs miracles. Also keeping therapy lets you flashback it witch empty for:
Another terminus
Explosives
Brainstorm is also an option but because he was mana screewed and cracked reliq instead of brainstorm I would think he didnt has one.
Also here the double led + infernal shows why nauseam card is good vs miracles. Also for being a eot bomb that has to be countered.
G3 is just you playing good and destroying him (:
Thanks for the reflections and feedback Rodrigo
So, last night I had some friends over for some legacy and beers. Eventually I got a bit drunk and as the other guys were playing, I decided to join a legacy daily with ANT on modo. It was a pretty absurd experience as I ended up facing 3x miracles and a UWR control deck, crushing them all 2-0 to a 4-0 finish.
I'll have a look at doing some commentary videos on it when I get the time![]()

And is enpty so good vs them usualy? Im still not sure...
I personally really enjoy to generate 6-10 goblins vs Miracle right now, no need to go all in.
( i finally play 1 on in the main and 2 (!) additional copies in my sb for now)
Pretty sure i will need them at the upcoming Grand Prix Kyoto.
In this scenario I would go for ponder first because if you shuffle after putting 2 bad cards on the bottom via scry you can draw said cards again post shuffle. Ponder shuffle first means you can still see trash in the top 4 post shuffle/the same cards but that's how it goes sometimes. Both see the same amount of cards but ponder limits the amount of dead cards you see because you don't shuffle in 2 bad cards. Depending on the hand I could see breaking LED(s) in response to the 2nd cantrip but it greatly depends on the hand.

Whats ur current build with 1+2 emptys? Md and sb. im gonna play in rome next month mkm and Im still not sure what list (and specially sb) run. As always im missing 2 sb slots. With 17 sb cards all would be awesome.
So this is pretty close the ideal list for the upcoming GP in my opinion. All tools are there to fight japans DTBs

Pampam,
I took my list from above to another GPT at HareruyaStore in Tokyo.
Around 166 Players showed up and there were 8 rounds of swiss and a top8 single elimination.
i faced:
2:0 omnishow
1:2 Tes
2:0 Maverick
2:0 Miracle
2:0 Lands
2:0 Bug Delver (Stifle)
2:0 Bug Delver (Hymns)
2:0 Miracle
70 after swiss and i finished 3rd among 166 Players, What a fight !
Quarterfinal. 2:0 Reanimator
Semifinal: Concession to a friend who needs byes for the GP because I alreeady have 2.
The deck felt incredibly strong and i would only change 1 or 2 cards in the entire 75 before GP Kyoto.
Gotry yourself !
Greetings,
Kai![]()
