Those of you that are playing Shaman of the Pact what did you cut for it? I'm currently running it instead of the seconds hoof but I haven't got a chance to test it, so it could be very wrong

    Re: [Deck] Elves!

I personally cut my 4th heritage for it and a the 4th NO for a reclamation sage main deck

    Re: [Deck] Elves!

Yesterday I lost in the finals of our local Seattle GPT with a standard streamlined build. I took out all the cute stuff and just went with Old School Elves. I dunno if I was just running hot or what, but the deck felt like pure gas. I lost the finals due to some tragically terrible draws but thems the breaks.

    Record:
    R1: 2-0 D&T
    R2: 2-0 BUG Delver
    R3: 2-0 UWR Stoneblade
R4: 2-1 Reanimator (G1 I killed him after he showed me Usea, Duress, Delta. In G2 I didn't know what he was on so my Therapies sucked and he killed me. G3 my Therapies were on point and led into Ruric Thar.)
    R5: ID
    R6: ID
    QF: 2-0 Merfolk
    SF: 2-0 Grixis Delver
Finals: 0-2 Vs the UWR Stoneblade player I beat in the Swiss.

    Deck (61):

    4 DRS
    4 Elvish Visionary
    4 Wirewood Symbiote
    4 Quirion Ranger
    4 Nettle Sentinel
    4 Heritage Druid
    2 Birchlore Ranger
    2 Craterhoof Behemoth
    1 Reclamation Sage
    1 Scavenging Ooze

    4 Glimpse
    4 GSZ
    3 Natural Order

    9 Fetchlands
    1 Pendelhaven
    2 Dryad Arbor
    2 Forest
    2 Bayou
    4 Cradle

    SB:
    2 Thoughtseize
    3 Therapy
    1 Pithing Needle
    1 Meekstone
    1 Null Rod
    1 Natural Order
    1 Krosan Grip
    1 Choke
    1 Ruric Thar
    3 Abrupt Decay

Thoughts: Although I kind of missed my cute stuff (Shaman of the Pack, Wren's Run Packmaster, MD Sylvan Library) I felt like the maindeck was great and my Glimpses were superpowered. Having 4x Nettle/Heritage makes cutting down to 3/3 postboard super easy without diluting the deck too much. And of course G1 your Glimpses are much better. I got slightly lucky with my pairings by dodging Omni and Miracles, but I think I'll stick with a "simple" list like this for awhile. My technical play got a little sloppy back when I was running MD Wren's Run Packmaster and other cute things that allowed me to shortcut to the win. I think I'll play the simple list (without any crutches) as a HardMode test going into the Seattle GP. That way, when the GP comes around, I'll walk into the tourney hall like this:

    Re: [Deck] Elves!

Nice result danyul, it was great to hear the the Seattle legacy scene has really taken off. Seeing stuff on facebook each week about large turnouts and extra sanctioned events is sweet. How did Meekstone work out for you? It's been significantly less relevant lately in my local area, but I've enjoyed it in the past.

I finally got to play some Elves again this past weekend. I've been loaning out Cradles and Bayous and fetches and such, so I've been jumping around between stoneblade and maverick variants lately.

The event had 3 Elves, 3 Death and Taxes, 1 Miracles, 1 Reanimator, and some other non-blue decks like Jund, Loam, etc.
Made a bit of hedge with the 4th NO main and the Surgical in the board.

    Round 1, 2-1 v BUG Food Chain
Round 2, 2-0 v WR nedleeds and Taxes
    Round 3, 2-0 v Punishing Jund
Round 4, ID w/ Death and Taxes
    Top 4, 1-2 v Reanimator

4 Natural Order, and likely a 4th Heritage Druid, is likely right in my minimal-blue region. I've been playing Wren's Run Packmaster main, but it might be right now to trim down the Ooze and just go balls to the wall - I guess we'll see if I have the chance to make it to SCG Charlotte to play in a more normal environment.
    Tusk up.
(Not so) Current Decks: GB Elves, GW Maverick, GWb Maverick, LED Dredge, ANT, TES, Jund Storm.

Thanks man. And grats on your run too! I always like to pack a Meekstone at larger events because I have a history of getting blown out by Delver god draws piloted by some schlub who just borrowed the deck for the weekend. I vowed to never let that happen again so I always pack a Stone if I expect to see new faces at an event. I brought it in but only cast it against Merfolk where it wasn't relevant because my opponent died before it mattered.

I like that Disfigure + Jitte tech in your SB. How has that been working out? Also I agree that the 4th NO/Heritage could come in for your meta. Wren's Run has definitely won me some games and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that card. I'm sure I'll sleeve it up again eventually but right now I agree that the Ooze is a bit better. It's tough though, as you know, because there are just too many good cards and not enough slots. That's also why I'm at 61 cards - I just couldn't make up my mind and I think it's fine for testing purposes.

I might try 61 for a bit too, I've been tinkering with going to 19 lands if I bump up my Birchlore/Heritage count, but maybe the solution is just to get that magical fraction of a card difference.
Jitte has been pretty good for me in the creature mirrors and just as another middle-of-the-curve threat. The disfigure was originally to hedge against Delver and non-blue Containment Priest decks because I didn't want the 4th decay.

I've been fiddling with cutting the Ooze, but I can't bring myself to put it in the sideboard, so it'd be a complete cut.

I've been playtesting with ruric thar for awhile mb now and I hate playing him against karakas and he's dead in some match ups. I'm not even sure I want him in the sideboard. Any Thoughts on ruric thar in the 75

I also was curious if anyone has tested with blood moon in the side, I could see it being really nice in some match ups but it turns of cradle and bayou which is definitely a bummer

What do you guys think of Elves as a first legacy deck to build? I like it because it's proactive, there's tons of decisions and it's quite fun to play. It doesn't play tons of expensive duals (Cradle though, ouch) or Forces. Downside is it doesn't get me staples for any other Legacy deck.

If you enjoy doing "big" things and engine decks, Elves is a good option. I'm personally often frustrated by the maindeck's lack of disruption, but just the same it's really sweet to be able to just go over other decks in the card advantage game. Which brings to mind. Do you like drawing shittons of cards? If so, this is a deck you should definitely consider.

Of course! Drawing cards is the best! I also like the option of just being able to win outright. It's one of the things that attracted me to Twin in Modern. There's interaction but I can win right now unless you stop me.

Default answer is proxy first, buy second. Dont waste money on a deck you dont like, especially one that (as you said) doesnt share staples with a majority of the format

If this is a question of "which deck should I use to buy into Legacy?", "Elves" isn't your answer, as the decks position in the format is too swingy and the space for development/adjustments is rather narrow. On top of that, Cradles are expensive as fuck.

If you want to enter Legacy with a Proactive deck with several descisions to make, pick up D&T as the deck has several staples (Karakas, SFM, Vial), no duals and a huge chunk of the deck is really cheap.

In case you want to aquire something more flexible, but guaranteed lasting, you won't get around blue duals and/or FoW
