I don't know why people hating on expeditions. Eye of Ugin is amazing IRL, I've since acquired a playset. Misty Rainforest looks like the opening scene of Secret of Mana and I saw a pimped out standard deck with Canopy Vista and Prairie Streams. I know these lands are crappy but they looked pimp as hell. Standard pimp, what a concept...

    I'm a fan of expeditions.

Different folks different strokes I guess.

Personally I don't mind the expeditions, I'm just not a fan of full art. I purposely chose s-chinese foil Khanslaught fetchlands over the originals because the new foiling makes altering them look much prettier.

Some of the expeditions look incredible. Some of them do NOT look good, though :D

    Misty is gorgeous, yeah!

I haven't seen all of them yet. My favorite ones are Eye of Ugin, Misty Rainforest and Fire-Lit Thicket. The tango lands are all pretty bad online but as beautiful a standard pimp card can get irl

Because if you are a foil pimp you'd just have set foils. Reprint foils are spinning rims on a '05 Hyundai.

Couldn't agree more. Misty Rainforest and Scalding Tarn expeditions are just things of beauty. Polluted Delta also looks great but original Onslaught Rob Alexander artwork is way too good.

Expeditions are WotC cash grabs no doubt about that but they are still awesome. I hope they keep printing this premium versions of cards. Who wouldn't want an expedition Jace TMS :) ?

Nothing wrong with the artworks, it is the lay-out that stands out waaay to much.

I have my playset of the original FoWs. I was about to commission a language swap for them into S-chinese until I heard about the announcement. SO...

    which would do have?

S-Chinese foil new FoW, or altered into Chinese original FoWs
Simplified Chinese foils, without any doubt. Language alterations are very seedy in my opinion.

I'm alive, just not super active.

What it takes to be a pimp:
    1. Knowing the right people.
    2. Have the money
Not one or the other, but both.

Can you disclose how much you pay for rarities like this? And what kind of a job you have? Super pimp.

    --

I have more pimp questions concerning Swords. I've since discarded judge promo swords as an option due to consistency errors between SoLaS and SoFaI (foiling isn't the same).

Now, to my next surprise I saw that Modern Masters SoFaI and SoLaS command a much higher price than the original ones. I completely missed this, but this is due to the fact that the Modern Masters versions of SoFaI and SoLaS are adapted to the SoBaM, SoFaF and SoWaP artwork and layout. So for true consistency I'd have to go with Modern Masters foils, except the original artwork is so classy...

I doubt I'll go for SoWaP SoBaM or SoFaF any time soon, but you don't want to one day come to the conclusion that you need those too.

Agh, this is so hard :) Help!

I got this WAY under market value. I quit my real job a year and a half ago. I've been living off of buying and selling magic since.

    Is liquidity ever and issue?

Yes and no. It depends on what you bought something for and your connections/network.

I specialize in high-end stuff, so I would have an easier time moving this stuff over a regular brick and mortar store.

RKF has such a sweet signature. I've never seen that before.

That price was so dumb. Like, way under half price.

    Congratulations!

I had the same "problem" when pimping my Stoneforge package.

At first I wanted to get the Judge Swords since I love old border foils, but clashing with the new Swords/Jitte/Batterskull became a knock-out.

For pack foils I decided to go with the new ones for consistency's sake, even though I prefer the old arts.

So, I don't think my choice is necessarily the most pimp or best looking, but I'm very pleased with its consistency.

Thanks a lot. This helps tremendously and it explains the crazy price on the MM foils. Looking good!
