Nice reported
Great Job man
It makes me happy to see Glissa popping up all over the place.
Speaking of which - I find myself on the horns of a Rhino... uhm... conundrum.
There's too much stuff I want to run and only so few tournaments to try them out in.
This part is pretty much set in stone:
21 lands
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Path to Exile
3 Pernicious Deed
4 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Painful Truths
2 Diabolic Intent (Yes, 2)
4 Veteran Explorer
2 Deathrite Shaman (The third one is optional)
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Eternal Witness
4 Siege Rhino
1 Meren of Clan Nel Toth
1 Sigarda
So that's the first 55.
Now, for the flex part here are the things I want to be doing:
1 Wood Elves (Rebecca Guay version, yay)
1 Qasali Pridemage (Just received the FNM version yesterday)
1 Fierce Empath
1 Karador, Ghost Chieftain
1 Sun Titan (Prerelease version. The other alternate art version is so ugly)
That's pretty much the "live long and be prosperous" package. Power out lands, establish the Deed lock, start an Eternal Witness loop, etc.
Then there's:
1 Courser of Kruphix
1 Glissa, the Traitor (The prerelease version looks so much better than the regular one)
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Gaddock Teeg/Deathrite Shaman
1 Sorin, Grim Nemesis
I.e. "I'm actually trying to adapt to my bad MUs a little". Courser helps with Burn and progression in general, Glissa solves combat, Pridemage handles opposing lockpieces, Gaddock Teeg might let you steal G1 vs. ANT/TES, Sorin is a wincon on his own that's actually good vs. Miracles.
And there's:
1 Courser of Kruphix
1 Fierce Empath
1 Karador, Ghost Chieftain
1 Dragonlord Dromoka
1 Qasali Pridemage/Glissa, the Traitor/Deathrite Shaman
I.e. "what I always run". Recur some, wreck some, Leeroy Jenkins that Dromoka.
What do you guys think of the various packages? Which would be best suited for my meta/would you run if forced to?
In my meta I can expect the following for any given Monthly:
1/2 Miracles
1-3 ANT/TES (one of which being Jamie Westlake)
0/1 MUD
0-2 Eldrazi
1/2 Grixis Delver
2/3 BUG Delver
0-1 RUG Delver
0-1 UWR Delver
0-1 UW Delver Control
1/2 Shardless BUG
0/1 D&T
0/1 Dredge
0/1 Goblins
1/2 Sneak & Show
1/2 Esper Deathblade
1/2 Burn
1/2 Elves!
0-2 Lands
0/1 UR Delver
0/1 Merfolk
1/2 Nic Fit (one of which being me)
0/1 Maverick
0/1 the village idiot and whatever he came up with during the week
+3 SDT
+1 Sorin
+1 Qasali Pridemage

@Echelon: How do you win without Decays? It's beyond security blanket material for me...and it also does SO MUCH.
Is there any consensus as to whether Path to Exile or Swords to Plowshares is better?
Does it mostly depend on how many basics we expect our opponents to have?
I feel like Swords to Plowshares is more consistent, but when Path to Exile is good, its better.
The effect of "exile a problematic creature" is identical. But path is basically "more aggro". It's easier to close out games by giving your opponent a basic land (if they even run them + have any remaining after veteran trigger(s)) instead of X life. Path can also be used against yourself to ramp -- and I've had this come up in competition before. Basically nerf their removal spell by path-ing it in response to get another land + library shuffle effect.
Swords is arguably "more defensive". When used against the opponent, you're giving them additional HP. This could be interpreted as working "against" your beatdown plan. But if you need to shoot your own guy for life (see: burn, other fringe situations), this is something path to exile doesn't offer.
Nic Fit doesn't give a shit about giving everyone lands. See veteran explorer. Your stuff is generally bigger than theirs. By contrast, a deck like Maverick runs "mana denial" as a core strategy. That's why you'll find Maverick running STP instead (plus KotR can eventually 2-hit the opponent, so giving the opponent additional life is whatever).
*This is a good question to ask because I used to run STP when I first saw the the scriptures of Lord Rhino.
When I converted over to Path, I found myself winning more. The results of [swords or path could be played] became more apparent. I was closing out games I'd otherwise tie/not guarantee a win.
Sword to Plowshares might as well read: "Exile target creature, your opponent gains more turns."
Squeezing thru every point of life is essential, especially against decks with a high velocity (Reanimator, Elves, MUD, Lands, Dredge), giving them a couple extra turns is very problematic. Path to Exile giving them basics, next to Veteran Explorer is in many, if not all, situations not really an issue.
Hey everyone, I have been swayed over to our lord and savior, Siege Rhino and have been putting together the abzan version of Nic Fit. I have a link to my deck list in my signature and would appreciate thoughts on the build I have put together. I am just getting into legacy again after a long break so I don't know what the meta is like yet.
Thanks

For me one of the main interactions not mentioned that has won me a lot of games is path to exiling a Marit Lage token. Deck usually banks on gaining 20 life when that damn thing is removed, just getting rid of it and then killing them in the next turn or two has won me quite a few games against the various decks that run dark depths.

Usually when people see a 61 card deck they try to figure out what they can cut to improve the deck. But fine, if you want to accept a minor disadvantage for your deck, that is ok. I have given up on that discussion.
But turning it around, to advice adding a card when you see a list with 60 cards, is odd.
I bet Ben Rubin's 64 card GP Top 8ing standard deck keeps you up at night ;)
