I've done two sets of black-splash videos, one featuring a list very similar to Long's Vortex list and one featuring both Abrupt Decay and Punishing Fire. Went 5-0 with Long's list, and 4-1 with my own. Will most likely do another set of black-splash videos, but right now I'm working on an RG build with Prime Time. As soon as I'm done with the current set, I'll record the black-splash. You guys wanna see Long's Vortex list or a P-Fire-Decay build?
P.S. Might have to wait until the Legacy League reopens (which I sincerely hope happens) since I'm only able to record one set a week.
True that Vortex greatly prefers a Loam online, but Bob or Library do a good job ofchelpingbto find less valuable landsxas well as compensating for the loss of resources.
This is not a small detail - working through graveyard hate is a definite plus for Vortex, and something it does that PF does not.
Supremacy 2020 is the modern era game of nuclear brinksmanship! My blog:

You can play Lands.dec in EDH too! My primer:

@covenantelite30 I really like the black splash too. I was able to fight through a mb Back to Basics, as well as getting rid of Deathrite Shamans. I think it's totally worth it, if you can afford the Bayou(s). I like the idea of a split, my buddy, who is on RG lands, is running some combination of both. I don't think we should dip below 34 lands, ideally 35 is the right place to be. I would say drop the 4th Crop Rotation for sure, and possibly the 3rd Punishing Fire for a 2/2 split. I think that is definitely worth testing, as getting Punishing Fire Surgically Extracted twice last night really slowed things down.
@barcode Glad to see people are brewing with the list! The one thing I think our deck has going for it, is more or less blanking mainboard removal from our opponents. I think Knight of the Reliquary can be an incredibly powerful tool, but may be best at home in the side board. That said, it does look like your SB is already pretty packed with a Stoneforge Mystic Package, so maybe not. I would love to hear how testing goes with this! I think the SFM package could become a couple of Path to Exiles/Swords to Plowshires, 2x Sylvan Library and some Thalia's.
Do you think you could get that list from your buddy that plays both vortex and P-fire / Decay main?
@gigapatrick I would use that list for your testing.
The list I put together hasn't been tested and probably needs a bit more lands in it.
I think 4 Maze's is too much probably cut it to 3.
Tranquil Thicket is really important, would add another.
Lastly I think Glacial Chasm is a must in any lands list, so I would add one of those.
Would probably take out a Punishing fire for the Glacial Chasm and have a 2/2 split with Vortex and Punishing Fire.

@ CovenantElite30: am I missing something? No Bayou? That's pretty bold, to say the least. No Chasm somewhere in your 75? Four Mazes? Or is this someone else's list?
@ Rivfader: I got your massage. I haven't got time to answer yet, and Dutch is no problem (het is zelfs makkelijker)
@CovenantElite30 I will get him to post his list sometime tonight! There were some good discussions on this topic over in the RUG lands thread that might be worth taking a look at.
That was just a list I found online. It needs work.
Can you post that list that plays p-fire and decay?
After playing tonight at my local fnm I've come to the conclusion that vortex is just bad in my local meta. I had a guy play magus of the moon and it complete destroyed the deck. I had the loam in the yard, wasn't doing me any good as I now had to draw my vortex to kill this annoying creature. The guy was on RW death and taxes. I lost both games to that card. What destroyed me really bad the second game was ratchet bomb. I had exploration and vortex in play and he basically destroyed my board. This is where I could see punishing fire much better. You guys have any suggestions on how to handle these death and taxes decks? There were 3 tonight. I feel like the lands combo to create a token is just bad especially when they have like 7 cards main that can deal with the token. I had my opponent game 1 bounce my token with a flickerwhisp followed up by a magus.

Ahaa! It sure does need some work. It was the way you presented the list that confused me
Wr DnT is a bad MU in my book. I had the pleasure to ran into them just once while I was on straight RG. Take care of Vial (especially on three), keep PuFi for Magus, and most of all don't let the game drag on. Easier said than done, and not much of help, but I tend to see this build as particular bad.
I would think that no Vortex RGb (that's what I'm trying at the moment) would give you more fighting chance with Abrupt Decay and PuFi main, and discard and K-Grip in the SB.
This is what I played:
4 Mox Diamond
4 Exploration
4 Gamble
4 Crop Rotation
4 Life from the Loam
3 Punishing Fire
3 Abrupt Decay
5 Fetch
4 Thespian's Stage
4 Rishadan Port
4 Wasteland
4 Dark Depths
3 Grove of the Burnwillows
3 Maze of Ith
2 Taiga
2 Bayou
1 Glacial Chasm
1 Tabernacle
1 Forest
Board:
4 Thoughtseize
2 Duress
2 Slaughter Games
3 Sylvan Library
2 K-Grip
1 Ancient Grudge
1 Bojuka Bog
Couldn't figure out how to splash black, keep P-Fire in the deck, and keep Thickets in the deck. Decided to cut Thickets. Went 4-1 so it couldn't have been that stupid.
