I've been feeling this as well! In my current configuration, I feel like my deck really wants a second Krenko or maindeck a Siege-Gang, but there's no realistic way to fit it in without sacrificing too much. If we weren't running Aether Vial, I feel like the deck could correctly be 61 cards.
@Sandro thanks for the advice of the Therapies and Chalices. I think I'll just cut the Therapies for the two Chalices, and then I've messed around with the numbers a bit more. The sideboard seems a bit more focused now. Still miss my warping wail though.
3 Chalice
2 Surgical
2 Needle
2 Blood Moon
1 Pyroblast
1 Relic
1 Pyrokinesis (maindecking one)
1 Siege-Gang
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
1 Sharpshooter
Question for the forum: When do we cut Skirk Prospector during sideboarding? The only time that I think of is against 4C Loam/Lands because you don't want to give up board position while already getting pressured by punishing fires. Advice?
I'm by no means an expert, but, Skirk is valuable to "ramp" with Mogg War Marshall and prevent lifegain from Batterskull or Griselbrand. Plus the combo-like synergy with Sharpshooter.
It's also a turn 1 play, in a deck that doesn't run so many 1 drops.
-rob
I think Prospector is one of the best card the deck has. Some Times i played 2 copies even it's not easy to find a room for the second one usually.
Alongside the Sharpshooter he is really amazing. They saved me many times facing multiple TNN + Goyf or other big things, shooting all my guys in my opp face. ;)
I think he's also great in combination with MWM allowing us to play really fast and reach very good board positions out of nowhere (expecially when the Warchief is in play) or, if we already have a good board position, he could be a true mana power plant!
Playing removals even if we are tapped out looks good too.
He is also, togheter with SGC, the only chance we have against a moat and ensnaring bridge.
But more frequently his sac outlet is very useful against Batterkull and Jitte: if we sac in response to combat damage, we can stifle lifelink and prevent jitte from getting new counters, and that's vital all the time we cannot shatter it quickly.
Good luck to all of you for the BOM weekend, we will support you from here!
Let us know how the thing are going.
Let's make goblin great again!
I agree for Batterskull, but not for Griselbrand? this demon has flying.
Hi Moosedog,To add to this question. When does skirk really shine? Outside of sharpshooter shenanigans why is he worth the slot?
Skirk shines when:
- we are against combo to put a T2 Warchief.
- we are against Burn and we have Sharpshooter in place.
- we are against elves with sharpshooter to help achieve a Nettle Sentinel by sacrificing a token or Mogg War Marshall.
- we want to throw goblins with Siege-Gang to achieve our opponent, but we don't have the mana.
- Skirk + Siege-Gang + Sharpshooter is a combo. For 3 goblins sacrificed, it's 5 unblockable damages => 2 for SGC ability and 3 from Sharpshooter triggers.
- we need mana for Gempalm and there are goblins to sacrifice.
- we need to pay for Daze.
- and many more...
You can read Sandro's post about it in the previous pages here.
Good luck everyone who's heading to BOM.
Represent.

Hello Ringleaders!
A week ago I took a slightly more classic brew to FNM than my usual lists. With TNN and Leovold up and coming, I figured it was time to actually give our dear friend Piledriver a chance again. TL;DR Piledriver is going to be worth it while blue creatures are in vogue :)
Lands (23)
11 Mountain
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Wasteland
3 Rishadan Port
1 Pendelhaven
Artifact (4)
4 Aether Vial
Instant (4)
4 Tarfire
Creatures (29)
4 Goblin Lackey
4 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Warchief
4 Goblin Ringleader
3 Goblin Piledriver
2 Gempalm Incinerator
2 Mogg War Marshal
1 Krenko, Mob Boss
1 Siege-Gang Commander
1 Goblin Sharpshooter
1 Skirk Prospector
1 Stingscourger
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
Sideboard (15)
3 Surgical Extraction
3 Relic of Progenitus
3 Pithing Needle
2 Blood Moon
2 Pyrokinesis
1 Stingscourger
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
Went 3-1 against 2 Leovold BUG decks, UWR Splinter Twin/TNN/Stoneblade and losing against U/B/g Reanimator.
Against Reanimator, we lost G1/G3. In G1, we lead on Goblin Lackey and lose to T1 Iona - ONLY because he followed up with double Thoughtseize - taking our Krenko and Stingscourger which were both outs to the game (Aether Vial in hand :(
G3 was tight but ultimately we lose to Elesh Norn since the Stingscouger was countered due to a lack of Cavern.
Piledrivers destroyed TNN decks all night. Lackeys and Vials took the early Abrupt Decays leaving Piledriver free to swing in with Matrons, Warchiefs and Ringleaders for huge burst. The 4x Tarfire made clearing up these decks Deathrites incredibly easy on card count as opposed to Pyrokinesis. They also artificially increase the usual Goblin count of 31 to 33 for Ringleader effects.
Sideboard - I loaded up on Gravehate and Pithing Needles expecting lots of GY decks and some Sneak Attack or DnT decks to snipe with the Needles. Ultimately I would have been better served with the extra Blood Moon over the Needle with Lands in the room and even another tri-color deck. The extra Stingscourger always does work for me in the 'big dudes' matchups and the extra Tuktuk is a great save against equipments.
I liked this version a lot! While I'll miss the ultimate blowouts from G1 Pyrokinesis or having the extra Krenko, the Piledrivers easily won half the games I played since I faced so many Leovold/TNN.
Good hunting!
Hey y'all. It's been awhile since I've frequented the thread, but with GP Vegas coming up I've been back to practicing the deck and I managed 2nd place at a local GPT today. I was hoping for those byes (since I'm only on one via Planeslwalker points this season) and GPTs will be handing out 2 byes to *each* of the 3 main events. Sadly, I didn't manage to take it down, but it was still a great day of casting Goblins so I felt compelled to share.
After being off my game for a bit I was looking for a list to try that was slightly different than the Mox fueled Winstigator list that I top 16'd that SCG Open with. I noticed that local goblin legend Brett Parise did well recently with a couple Winstigators so I decided to try his maindeck (thanks Brett!) coupled with my black sideboard splash instead of a white one.

Round 1 vs Leovold Sultai
Game 1: I don't remember this one that well but I basically just beat him down real quick. At some point I used Pyrokkinesis to good effect in order to connect with LackeyWinstigator to get things going.
Game 2: Lost to a mid-game Engineered Plague.
Game 3: He dropped another mid-game Plague but he ran out of gas and I was able to win just by attacking with 1/1 Ringleaders and maybe a Chieftain.
1-0
Round 2 vs Turbo Depths
Game 1: Thoughtseize stripped the lone Stingscourger from my hand early which left me getting 20/20'd out real quick.
Game 2: Might have had a chance if I could have Vial'd out a Stingscourger but he had Needle to keep it locked down.
20/20'd again.
1-1
Round 3 vs Shardless Sultai
Game 1: Started getting beat down by to Goyfs early and didn't stabilize till I was at 1 life. Luckily my opponent started being a bit too cautious after that and I was able to snowball the card advantage engine into a huge board that used Siege-Gang, Sharpshooter, and burn spells to eventually kill all his guys and steal the game. Mogg War Marshal was pretty great in chump blocking this game.
Game 2: My opponent flooded the board with Strix and Agents but there was a turn where I was able to take some beats in order to burn his remaining blocker and get in with a Winstigator. Matron gets Kiki-Jiki and then Scrapper who in turn starts blowing up all his artifact creatures.
2-1
Round 4 vs Reanimator
Game 1: Dude kills me with a turn 2 Griselbrand.
Game 2: I get down a turn 1 Relic and fire off a Therapy for Dance Of The Dead, but it's a wiff (he has Narcomancy instead). Turn 3 I miss a land drop and can either keep mana up for Relic, play War Marshal and flashback Therapy for Narcomancy, or play a lone Piledriver. Of course I make the worst choice and play a Piledriver (my thought process is that he would have surely hid his Narcomancy with the Brainstorm he just cast, but in the end he shuffled and played it next turn on Worldgorger Dragon (haven't seen that one in awhile) and I get decked by an Oona. Should have done either thing 1 or thing 2.
2-2
Round 5 vs 12 Post
Game 1: I come out with some guys but he fires off 4 fogs in a row then drops Ensnaring Bridge and Needle on Vial. I Tarfire my own Chieftain in order to get in with my 2 Lackeys and Winstigator (he had one card left in hand) and have a huge turn with 4 triggers dropping Matron, Kiki-Jiki, and Scrapper (to kill the bridge). It turns out I should have killed his Candelabra (or maybe just been less greedy and skipped the Kiki-Jiki) because the next turn he finds a Tabernacle and I have to bin all but one creature (was on 1 land w/ a now dead Vial) and a few turns later he finds an Emrakul.
Game 2: I play a turn 2 Chalice on 1 and he instantly scoops.
Game 3: I play a turn 3 Blood Moon and a turn 4 Chalice on 1 with a few other creatures and he scoops after a couple turns.
3-2
The top 6 players all drew in which left two 3-2's to limp in. All the others in the Top 8 wanted to prize split, but I no sirred it (as always).
Quarterfinals vs Turbo Depths
Game 1: Came out with some early pressure but double Crop Rotation made an end of turn 20/20 and my Stingscourger was worthless.
Game 2: Don't remember very well but some combination of Chalice on 1 and/or Wastelands kept me alive long enough to prowl out an Earwig Squad. I was taking way too long to decide what to take out of his deck when he finally just decided to scoop.
Game 3: Again, a couple well timed Wastelands and probably a bad draw from my opponent let me squeak out a win. I wasn't expecting to win this one since I got destroyed so thoroughly by it in the swiss, but it was nice to do so when it counted.
Semifinals vs Lands
It took awhile for another quarterfinal match to finish so I got to watch a Miracles player and Lands player to battle it out. I was obviously rooting for the Miracles player, but unfortunately Lands won.
Game 1: Fortunately (for me) my opponent mulled to 5 and I was able to win without him doing much of anything.
Game 2: The game starts out okay for me as I have both pressure and some disruption but he eventually gets out a 20/20 to kill me somehow anyway.
Game 3: I keep a hand with a Chalice and was planning on dropping it for 1 on turn 2 to lock him out of Crop Rotations and Gambles, but instead play more aggressively and play Winstigator to keep the pressure on after a Punishing Fire takes out my turn 1 Lackey. This ends up being a good thing, because after he topdecks Grove and Fires again, I realize I can actually just drop my Chalice for 4 to stop the P-Fire recursion. This gives me plenty of time to set up a bunch of goblins and eventually a Blood Moon to shut him down for good.
Finals vs Reanimator
Game 1: He has the turn 2 Worldgorger kill and there's basically nothing I could have done.
Game 2: I mull to 5 or 6 looking for some action and keep a hand with Relic. He drops a turn 1 or 2 Griselbrand and my only out is to spend turn 3 on Matron in order to turn 4 Stingscoruger to stabilize at 6 life. Of course, he just Worldgorgers (through my Relic activation in response to the Animate Dead!) the next turn anyway, again I have no real chance.
2nd out of 18 players for $90 in store credit.
Takeaways:
I'm feeling good about this maindeck, it's been awhile since I've played with War Marshal and Gempalm but obviously they work well together. Marshal did some great chump blocking against Goyfs and powered out some big Gempalms. I'd like to squeeze a 3rd Chieftain in somehow, maybe by going down to just 2 Gempalm? Having 7 dead removal spells maindeck is pretty bad against combo and I hate having to waste a Matrons tutors on Chieftains. Siege-Gang is probably the next card I could think about cutting, as he's almost never turtored for and never really necessary (albeit very splashy and fun when he does get dropped in early). I didn't miss the 2 extra Winstigators or Piledrivers like I thought I would, 6 "Lackeys" is enough (less chance we get flooded on them) and Piledriver basically just showed up when needed. Also, this was only my first time playing with the "red Force Of Will" but it's pretty great. Many times it killed a bunch of stuff and kept the Lackey train going. Obviously I had to cut the Moxes to afford the card disadvantage, but I was kind of cooling on Mox anyway so it seems to be a good trade.
The sideboard could use a bit of work. Relic seems great in theory but I am constantly disappointed by it. The "mill one at a time" plan is never good enough, and I hate having to leave a mana up. Should I just replace them with Tormod's Crypts? Also, yes, I know my Blood Moons should be Magus Of The Moons so they can be Vial'd out and beat down but I just don't own any right now. They're on the wishlist though. Might want to go to 3 of those. Also, as cool as Earwig Squad is, I'm beginning to feel like it might be a win more card. Will keep them in for now, but the slots might be better used as the 4th Chalice / Therapy / graveyard hate card.
Looking forward to playing more local Legacy events over the next month or so in preparation for Vegas, if I have any more interesting results or revelations about my decklist I'll be sure to share. Thanks for reading, it's good to be back!

I just put together Goblins online (minus 1 Port, but they're expensive as hell).
Would you guys be interested in seeing videos of Goblins Legacy leagues? I used to stream and occasionally record video content for MTGCardMarket, so I I already have the software and a tiny bit of know how.
Chalice on two to stop P-Fire and Loam is pretty great against Lands. For me it's the default plan with CotV in that matchup, especially since Needle, Relic, and Surgical Extraction all cost one mana as well.
Relic is a good card. An excellent one even. It's also the worst it's been in a very long time. With the most common graveyard centric combo deck being too fast for it, and very few Tarmogoyfs around, I think we'd do best to adjust our graveyard hate accordingly. Personally I plan on trying 3 Leyline of the Void next week (replacing the 2 Relic, 1 Cage, 1 SE I've been playing recently), going up to 3 copies of Blood Moon.

BoM 2017 Report time!!
Christmas time one of my friends and teammate (Shimi) came to visit me in London, and said he was going to play at Paris this year. I bought tickets the same day.
We organised with some other friends (most notably GobboLord) and settled on 6 of us going there.
5 weeks ago I got very disappointed with the classic build, and with fatal push and leovold I've decided something needed to change. After seeing one of my friends list from Brazil (Guilherme Figueira) I spoke to him a bit on card choices and decided to make a change for the Winstigator build (interesting to see in the last few post people getting to the same conclusion)
The day before the main event I convinced Gobbolord to play it as well. After a few tweaks our md me was 3 cards different. Mines was:
Winstigator Goblins
10 Mountain
4 Cavern of Souls
3 Wasteland
3 Chrome Mox
2 Pendelheaven
1 Karakas
4 Aether vial
4 Goblin Lackey
4 Warren Instigator
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Ringleader
2 Goblin Piledriver
2 Siege Gang Commander
1 Kiki Jiki, Mirror breaker
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
1 Stingscourger
3 Tarfire
2 Gempalm Incinerator
1 Pyrokinesis
Sideboard
4 Leyline of the Void
2 Mindbreak Trap
2 Thorn of Amethyst
2 Pithing Needle
3 Blood Moon
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
1 Pyrokinesis
(For the 1st trial I played with 2 Warchief instead of a 2nd pendelheaven and a 2nd sgc. For the 2nd trial on Sunday I cut the 2nd pendelheaven for a Sparksmith and 2 MB Trap for a 3rd Thorn and a Sudden Demise. This last list was the best one)
Friday Trial
Round 1
BUG control
G1
I mull into 2 lands, Tarfire, chief, tuk and Kiki. Scry bottom. Play land go. He Drs. I Tarfire he daze. I topdeck gator. He plays Goyf. I topdeck land, play chief and trade gator with Goyf. He plays visions. I draw lackey and swing. Kiki comes in and gg.
G2
He fows my kinesis on Goyf then hymns 2 creatures rendering me with just lands. Goyf goes to town.
G3
I keep mountain, mox, lackey, gempalm, blood moon, matron and chieftain. T2 blood moon sounds nice. He fatal pushes my lackey and I never see a 3rd manasource or vial or another 1 or 2 drop.
0-1 (0-1)
Round 2
BUG control?
G1
On the play get instigator t1. He plays island.
I cycle a gempalm to actually find a goblin. Find ringleader that gets me gas. Drop a sgc. He plays Goyf. I play chieftain and gg
G2
I start with 2 vial and gempalm his noble with a lackey. He follows that with tnn, needle on vial and a jitte. Oh, and force on tuktuk. Nice.
G3
Gator t2, matron t3, get rid of his blocker t4, instigator connects into Kiki, Kiki copies matron, finds a tuktuk for his recently cast jitte. Next turn he plays tnn. I search for chieftain to set for lethal. He plays a 2nd jitte jitte and swing. Kiki + tuktuk take care of that. Gg.
1-1 (1-1)
Round 3
Maverick
G1
Keep a 6 with 1 land, gator and kinesis. Scry vial to top. Op plays deathrite. I play vial. He gsz for Qasali pridemage. I kinesis them both. Lackey on top. He trades lackey with a dryad arbor. He doesn't have a block for gator that comes next turn. Gg
G2
He plays sword fire ice t2. I have 3 kinesis and 2 mox on my first 12 cards. He overruns me.
G3
Is so fun for me. T1 lackey. He plays maze of ith. I play mox into land into blood moon. Lackey puts ringleader and gets me 4 Goblins. GG
2-1 (2-1)
Round 4
Rockguy
G1
I keep vial gator Tarfire matron chief mountain and waste.
He gets deathrite which i kill into Bob. He decides to attack his t3, just to get Bob dead with a vialed in Gator. Next turn chief and sgc come down. Gg
G2
I mull, forget to scry keeping vial gator chief ring mountain and waste. He IoK my vial. Then cast Goyf. He discard 3 of my cards, but only has a Goyf so I take dmg and chip about of his life till he drops a drs so I start blocking. Nice ringleader and following turn I chieftain + Tarfire + lackey against his Drs and tapped Goyf taking him to 7. He finds an iok for my stingscourger but I draw an instigator and that's exactly enough for lethal.
3-1 (3-1)
R5
4 color leovold
G1
I mull to 5 and he gets a sword f/i t2.
G2
He mulls to 5 and I connect lackey into sgc.
G3
He plays waste, I lackey. He tropical. I attack into sgc. Then land mox and play moon. He fows it but doesn't have B mana for a Deluge. I double waste and kill him in 2 turns.
4-1 (4-1)
Main event
Merfolk
G1
I win the roll and we both start with vial. I Tarfire his first Lord, matron for Tarfire for a 2nd one, Ringleader gets me gempalm for another one and soon SGC comes down from vial and seals the deal.
G2
He starts with a Sylvergill revealing a Lord. I have tarfire but decide to save it for the Lord. I play Piledriver t2. He plays tnn. I draw a vial and have a hand with Tarfire, matron, Chieftain and Ringleader. I chose to cast vial, thinking that it will be more useful than more Goblins into play now.
He misses a 4th land Drop and Phantasmal images his tnn and swing for 3. I decided to Tarfire Silvergill now since I plan on using all my mana next turns and need to start swinging soon.
I untap and cast Matron for Piledriver.
He plays Jitte but still misses the landrop. He swing with just 1 tnn. I vial in Piledriver and cast Chieftain. Swing with all apart from chief. He takes 12. He equips Jitte and swings killing chieftain. He also plays mutavault. I draw a Matron and swing. When he activates mutavault, I vial matron for gempalm and kill it before blocks.
1-0 (5-1)
Round 2
W Eldrazi
G1
Win the roll amd start with vial. He plays mimic. I play instigator. Reads it and dismembers it. I matron for instigator. He plays an endless one. I bounce it, connect and win.
G2
He plays a t2 3/2 Thalia, then containment priest and a Jitte then I die not doing much.
G3
We both mull to 6 and I keep Wasteland, Karakas, Pendelheaven, Mox, Matron and Blood Moon. The scry is Chieftain.
Would you keep it or bottom it?
What I did: bottomed it.
5 seconds later I facepalm very loudly.
I draw vial T2 and realise I have no R to imprint apart from Matron. I do so and Blood Moon resolves. He plays a mimic and an Endless one for 3 t3. He swings for 4 turns while I draw blanks and die. Had I kept Chieftain to imprint him, then gone T3 matron for Ringleader, I would most likely have won the game. He showed me after the match his hand with 5 uncastable cards.
1-1 (5-2)
Round 3
Miracles
My opponent is super friendly. Really a pleasure to play.
G 1
keep 2 lackeys an instigator a gempalm and lands. He kills all my lackeys. I draw 2 more and they don't connect either. Then manages to Entreat for 2, then for 3. Game.
G2
I mull and keep a decent hand. Get a t1 vial, and t2 thorn, which he forces. He is stuck on lands but I don't have much pressure. I land a Blood Moon when he had only a basic Plains out and drop him to 10. He manages to terminus through a Top. I needle Top. He passes. A ringleader gives me a couple of Goblins. I play a couple and take him to 2. My next turn I swing and he Wear/Tear Moon and Needle. Then plays 3 stp. Killing all my creatures. I have only a Matron in hand now and vial at 3. His turn he durdles. I think I make a mistake here and decided to matron for sgc (all tarfires sided out 🙁) Ringleader would be on curve but if it bricked and he plays terminus or entreat, I lose. Either way. He plays snapcaster and wear/tear my vial. I never get to cast sgc. I draw chieftain and he has another Snapcaster. Same for Instigator. Then I blank until he finds entreat and kills me. Really really unfortunate here...
1-2 (5-3)
Round 4
Death and Taxes
G1
I mull to 5, keep a 1 lander, get wastes wasted and lose.
G2
T1 Instigator, gempalm his Mom and win.
G3
I draw 3 vials, 3 lackeys and 2 Instigators. No matron, chief, ring or bomb. Manage to stall until he sword f/I and I don't habe Tuktuk or removal either.
1-3 (5-4)
Round 5
UR Delver
G1
Opponent ends up with 2 Swiftspear and 2 ofnthe flying dude. Too many creatures that first control my board a little, then paired up with some burn finishes me off.
G2
On the play, oponent kills my lackey, then my Instigator, then Chieftain. Ringleader t4 gets me 3 Goblins and he can't cope.
G3
He doesn't pressure with creatures enough and has to turn burn to my creatures. Goblins CA gets going again and he gets too far behind.
2-3 (6-4)
Round 6
Sneak Show
G1
He forces lackey, I play vial. He plays sneak into emrakul t4. I sac everything and cast Lackey next turn, that connects for a chieftain. I swing and pass. He finds grizzle.
G2
He forces Lackey, I play vial. Chieftain into Instigator for Kiki. He doesn't kill me and dies.
G3
He forces Lackey, I play vial (seriously). And Karakas. T3 I play Thorn, and 4 Needle on Sneak. By then I have sgc, lackey and a Matron. He piroclasm. I vial chief and play gator next turn. He dies my next attack.
3-3 (7-4)
Round 7
Food Chain
G1
I lead with instigator. He plays a noble. I gempalm it, connect into chief and SGC.
G2
He manages to get a board this game of a 0/4 wall, revoker and a 1/1 dude that looks for a big dude. I only have matron into play that searched for a ringleader, with some lands including pendelheaven. I attack. He blocks with the wall. I tap pendelheaven , deal 2 dmg to it, then Pyrokinesis his board away. I then start to apply pressure and kill all creatures he plays. Until he dies. He shows me the combo in his hand but was always 1 mana short of casting it because his creatures didn't stick.
4-3 (8-4)
Round 10
Death and Taxes
I sit between GobboLord and 1GoblinLackey. It's awesome.
G1
Both players have vial and cast a bunch of stuff, having a bunch of lands. I have to matron for Tuktuk for a Jitte, ending up only with another matron in hand with some creatures in play. He has 2 moms and 2 other creatures. I have vials at 3 and 4. When I untap them I decide to leave them like that and matron for ringleader and brick. He finds a batterskull and equips in his flying Pegasus and kills me in 3 turns. He had already played 2 stp this game. Correct play would be to search for Kiki and ride the card advantage for the win. Would even have the out for Batter. Totally punted.
G2
Lackey into pendelheaven into sgc end the game t3.
G3
He keeps a very slow hand, plowing lackey and gator. I draw mox and get t3 ringleader then ride the fast CA for the win.
6-3 (10-4)
Sunday Trial
Round 1
Shardless bug
G1
T1 Sparksmith on the play. He shaman. I play lackey and kill shaman. He plays shaman. I kill it then sgc and chieftain.
G2
He passes. I pass. He plays strix. I play Instigator. He Shardless into shaman and swings with strix. I Kinesis shaman and Shardless connect into matron for sgc and waste him. Goyf meets gempalm, I take him to 1 land and it is all over again.
1-0 (11-4)
Round 2
Death and taxes
G1
I lead with a Mox into lackey and waste. He plays mom from cavern. I waste and Tarfire into gator. He plays vial. I waste into matron for Tuktuk and he concedes.
G2
I play vial and he stone for jitte. I instigator. I can't really remember exactly the next 2 turns, but he ends up with only an equipped Serra Avenger into play when I have a chieftain. I remember my 4th turn i cast ringleader that bricks. My hand had a 2nd chief, matron and gator, and i had vials at 2 and 3. I decided to go for it, getting gatir and chief into play and swing with all. He blocks... NOTHING! Takes 16 dmg. Matron comes in for Tuktuk and it destroys Jitte. 3 Life. His turn? Cataclysm! I'm left with mountain, chief and vial. He is left with Avenger and land. He swings. I pass. He swings. I pass.he swings and gets a mom. I play lackey. He swings. I pass. He plays stone and swings. I play gator. He swings. I go to 2. I draw Sudden Demise, cast it for 3. Phew...
2-0 (12-4)
Round 3
UR Delver
G1
He leads with a swiftspear and me with 2 vials. I manage to deal 6 dmg to him but he kills all my creatures and keeps swinging. I blank once and do nothing. He plays a flying 1/3 dude, brainstorms, then probes 3 times for exact lethal. My turn the would be topdecked ringleader would give me lethal with sgc and chieftain =/
G2.
I pass. He plays delver. I Tarfire it. I play Thorn. He never plays a 2nd spell. And shows me 3 ponders and a brainstorm afterwards.
G3
This game is awesome. He leads with ponder then swiftspear. I have kinesis but want to get more value from it so take some hits. He gets in for 6 I think, while bolting my creatures, then plays a delver. I Kinesis them both. A couple of ringleaders are quite bad, give me some pressure on him. He plays a delver, that flips into Smash to Smitherins ( that makes me look at my hand of mox, vial and thirn and be happy for not playing any if them). I have a bit of a board too and keep pressuring. He plays a 3/4 dude that discard his hand and draws him cards, then plays a delver. My next ringleader is decent. I have 6 lands, and get 2 tarfires. I have chieftain and, instigator and matron into play. 9 Life. I cannot lethal him through the blockers. I can either aim the 2 tarfires at the 3/4 and swing, giving me lethal next turn, but dying to bolt, or kill the delver, making the game go a bit longer. I decided not to take the gamble and killed both delvers. Also attacked with gator, that traded with his last creature. Good position now. Apart from him casting rough/tumble next turn.
I draw a 2nd Thorn and cast them both, wastelanding him. He gets a swiftspear. Down to 8. I draw a few blanks and he hits me 4 more times. 2 haste creatures plus a few fetches take him to 2, but he kills them. He takes me to 2. I draw a land. He draws, sighs, as takes me to 1. I pray and then slam the card of the top of my deck on the table without looking.
Tarfire! Phew. Damn good game.
3-0 (13-4)
Round 4
Grixis control
We both know what we're playing against.
G1
I lead with nothing, he with shaman. I play gator and he pyromancer then bolts it. I draw and have sting, gempalm, matron, ringleader and vial now. I decide I need to get some tempo back and build for my next turns. And I dont want to play into Cabal Therapy. So I play sting, which he fows, then vial, that resolves. I take some dmg dog but play another gator that keeps him from swinging with everything. When vial comes to 3 I matron for Gempalm to deal with pyromancer, then ringleader draws me 4 cards and that's lretty much it.
G2
I mull. He gets a shaman. I play vial which he fows. He plays strix and waste. I play lackey. He tnn. Then he kill Lackey and hits me 3 at a time until I die a horrible death.
G3
I keep 2 blood moon, Mox, 2 lands, Pyrokinesis and Sparksmith. Land go. Delver go. I draw a chieftain t2 and decide not to go for Mox moon in case of case daze this turn and fow the other. And sparksmith is quite a good creature there. So I play him. He draws, bolts it and passes. I draw a 3rd land. Mox imprints chieftain and I play moon with daze backup. It resolves. He shows me afterwards he had a daze, but this means he doesn't have a fow. I pass. Delver flips of bolt. I decide to take 3, but draw another land. I decide to Kinesis now in case he draws a fow and I blank until I die like against the Eldrazi. We both draw go for a bit but he doesn't have an out and that's it.
4-0 (14-4)
Round 5
Sneak Show
G1
I keep 2 lackeys, gator, gempalm, 3 lands. He plays island and probes. I draw Mox, play it imprinting gempalm and cast 2 lackeys. He cantrips . I draw matron. Attack for 2. What's the play here? I matron for matron then matron for matron and keep it in my hand playing gator. He sneaks emrakul. I take 5, swing, and he kills me next turn.
G2
I keep Mox, thorn, chief, sparksmith, Karakas and 2x ringleader. T1 Mox removing ring for thorn. T2 I draw thorn and play sparksmith. He cantrips. I draw a creature and attack. He play land and petal. I blank and attack. He plays snt. Grizzle and chieftain comes in. Bounce grizzle he draws 7. Draw waste. Hit for 4 and waste him (didn't want to tap karakas to play thorn). He cantrips. Hit him down to 4. He passes. I draw matron and attack. He kills my dudes. He draws, plays a land and snt, with 1 mana open. I put matron face down for some reason. He flips sneak attack and I start saying how I threw the game away from putting matron into play and stuff. Opponent is really nice and we're talking a lot. But I know I'm dead. So I keep searching my deck for an out. Maybe there's something. There isn't. I grab a Tarfire and said "yeah, go ahead". He puts emrakul into play and immediately facepalms. I bounce it before attack. He passes the turn. I don't look at the top card again and immediately put it in the table. Caverns. Chieftain comes down and I swing for exact lethal.
G3
He cantrips. I play lackey. He cantrips. I play Thorn thorn and get sgc. He passes. I play needle. He looks sad and says ok. I name his flooded strand on the battlefield. He cantrips one more time but i have lethal in 2 turns with 2 chieftains.
5-0 (15-4)
Don't know what to say. Was super happy with my result. Was thinking now that I won ly last 10 matches in a row! The deck seems very strong, albeit bricking some times. Guess that's what you get for not playing brainstorm...
Event was awesome. Venue could have been better, and coverage was almost non existent. Other than that it was pretty well organized.
Was disappointed for not getting to too 16, but really happy to already have byes for 2018!
Also was great to meet Florian and Eli. Really dope
Any comments or questions are, as always, very much welcome.

Cool interactions during the games:
Against Grixis G1, I had vial going to 4 at one point, with 3 Wastes up, and 2 more mana, and a couple of dudes. he had Shaman and something. I drew a card and held priority draw phase, then got Ringleader down. It found me Tarfire. Still draw phase I tarfire his shaman then waste his 2 Volcanics, so when went to main phase I could play Chieftain without fear of Bolt.
Against DnT Main event round 9, I had a big board when he had Jitte, with Chieftain and Instigator, Vials at 4 and 3. I attacked, and he blocked. I then Vialed in Tuktuk. He responded by removing counters to ping Gator. I responded by vialing in a 2nd Chieftain. It turns out he had StP as well, but was fun.
Super Bizarros Team. Beating everything with small green dudes and big waves.
thanks for the report. i had played a similar list in paris at a BoM trial and was wondering if you tested without piledrivers. also, goblin settler is pretty great. this is something i saw from brett's list a long time ago when i played him on modo.

i now play a slightly different version with only 1 pendelhaven and i run white for all my graveyard/combo hate. krenko didn't do too much and after seeing your list i think they can both go (i had settled on one, convincing myself they are good enough)
when i'm in london i'll let ya know. things have been a bit busy since my wife is pregnant, but usually i'm out there about every 6-8 weeks.
