    Location: Breda (Barcelona, Spain)
    Date: 15 December 2007
    Participants: 42

This is the second big tournament this spanish team organizes this season. This is one of the biggest (if no the biggest) regular Legacy tournament in Spain (apart of the National and maybe an Open in Madrid or something).

This time the prize (8 Tundras) was split between the Top4.

A pity I couldn't go, but here 500 Km is a lot of car :(

There were surprizingly many CounterSliver players there. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 5. Two of them did pretty well. I know the guy who got second. I'll ask him if he can post his decklist here.

Grats on the finish. A link to a tourney report would be stellar, but if not, I'd still like to know how many rounds this thing was. Six?

    http://forum.benelegacy.nl/viewtopic...r=asc&start=15

about the tarmogoyf, i was just glad i finally got my hands on one.

I might just get to work translating the report, my English is pretty good if I do say so my self.

Re: Top 4's & Top 8's - POST RESULTS HERE

    so my translated tournament report:

    Match 1

    'unknown' U weenie

His first play of the match was Island, Flying men. I thought id be OK.
I saw a standstill and some more 1/1 fliers, but even after drawing 3 cards my slivers are still bigger.

I didn't bother siding, witch made him forget it.

    1-0

    Match 2

    survival/welder
    Game 1

i kept a hand with nothing but slivers and land, I had no idea what i was facing.
He got a platinum angel just in time, just before his life became -1.
I didn't find any answer in the following 3 turns.

    Game 2/3
I board in Harmonics and mage, could have gone for crypt, but i thought i could manage without em.
Agree with me or be wrong, i won in 2 boring games where i had a counter or mage waiting for survival.

2-0 cool, and to think this is my 3rd legacy tournament.

    Match 3

    Leon
    Cephalid breakfast

    Game 1
I know leon from a previous tournament, i knew he was playing breakfast.
So you'd think i would know his deck, well? not really.
it was really close, Leon ran out of combo pieces just as i ran out of counters.
His life total soon ran out as well.

    Game 2
Ok, i admit it, man that was horrible, from both players.
Its a small miracle i won here's why:
first illusionist i counter, then i find a mage.
If i knew the deck better, i would have just put it on illusionist, but i decided to name one of the En-Kor creatures.
STUPID! he plays 2 kind DUH!
His Big mistake? I drew a second mage, and he had a chance to remove it from my hand, he didn't.
again, I have no idea what a good target is for my second mage and i chose to keep it in my hand.
eventually, i do play the mage, and he has no answer.
we conclude we both are idiots and move on

    3-0
that was so undeserved, no matter, just forget it and play on...

    Match 4
    Bastiaan
    Threshold

    Game 1
The matchup I was fearing, Threshold.
Let's be honest, Thresh is better, i'm only playing slivers since tarmogoyf is so f**k*ng expensive.
His version had red for bolt and pyroblast in his side. Sad thing is, slivers are only any good in groups. I fail to find a crystalline and they never reach critical mass.
I die to nimble mongoose since StP doesn't work on the buggers.

    Game 2
    This was my plan:
get more slivers to stick on the board and use talon for domination over the red zone.
easier said then done, even though i draw 2 crystalline, none get through.
With my slivers targetable they die one by one.

    3-1
well, that was to be expected, but no matter prises where going to everyone with as low as 12 points.
I can win one more Right?

    Match 5
    Dennis
Dragon Stompie (so i was told)

    Game 1
Here we go again, another nasty matchup.
Something i really cant handle: Blood, or Magus of the, MOON.
And then i had only mountains left....
soon after i was browsing through my sideboard.

    Game 2
Gone with the mages again. Draw a sliver, mage and 2 force.
My opponent runs out of gas pretty soon with this much countermagic.
He's able to play a dragon, but there where already to many slivers to help him.

    Game 3
This game was won on turn 1, i had a hand with a basic and fetch, some slivers and a force without an extra blue card.
If my opp opens with a moon I'm dead. period
I keep it and my opp doesn't open with the dreaded enchantment/creature.
i get 2 basics and drop sliver-sliver-sliver for the win.

    4-1
    OW YEA, in tha money!
thats all i want from my tournament, the rest is gravy.

    Match 6

    Hero (cool name)
BGW-agro (never even seen anything like it)

    Game 1
All i see are some small critters, mine are bigger. (river boa and confidant)

    Game 2
i side in some more slivers and think this could be more simple then i could have dreamed.
he scruws at 4? land and when he wanted to regen his troll ascetic witch blocked my 2/4 crystalline i had a stifle that wanted differently. After that nothing stood in my slivers why to win the match.

    5-1
omg, this is going really well, although i feel like i lucked out every hard matchup.

    FINAL Match 7

    Jip
    NarcoBridge
I kinda know this deck and saw Jip play it before. Most of you probably know this is an impossible matchup.

    Game 1
2 LED's and i can only counter one, makes for a lot of hasty zombies led my a flamekin on turn 2. Ouch

    Game 2
I side in almost my entire sideboard, the crypts, mages, stifle hell even the harmonic. Still, this might be over before i even know it.
Kept a hand with a crypt and a mage, the crypt keeps him from combo-ing turn 1, the mage keeps him from combo-ing when he's dealt with the crypt!
    (how random was that?)

    Game 3
first hand has neither a crypt nor a land so i go fish for 6 better ones.
    i get:
    tropical island
    daze
    stifle
    crypt
    crypt
    crypt
omg!! this is crazy!, i keep my pokerface and keep.
opp stares me in the face and plays a chalice on 0! ouch, 3 dead cards in hand.
    That was not so great....
my solution: 1 is better then none right? is play a crypt and use my stifle to get it past the chalice.
now my opp is waiting on a grudge to get rid of my tiny artifact. he finds it and makes a error.
He's constantly discarding via the end-of-turn 8 cards, and does this also with his grudge, but he had the mana to just cast it twice.
I had a counter for it (not 2 if he had played it correctly)
He doesn't go nuts on the zombies and doesn't get 3 match points.
I DO, with 2 crypts still in hand!!! (the match points that is, not the zombies).

    6-1!!
    How did that happen??
Where are all the good deck?

as it turns out, it was good enough for 2de place.

SUPER day for me, beautiful tournament, nicely run but no t8

if you saw my dutch report, you might wonder what all the text is after the 7 matches. well, i was not really happy with the price distribution.
The prices where really nice, lots of places got prizes but they did not take 5 mins to figure out how they were gonna give em out.
fist, prizes where going to be modified to fit groups nicely, so every one with the same amount of points would get about the same prize. This did not happen, both in the mid range and with my prizes.
prizes for top 2 were 5 cards, 2 revised Volcanic, 1 unl Volcanic, 1 unl Badlands and 1 BB sinkhole.
    how where they split it?
they gave the first 3 picks to number one!
I had to read on the forum what the number one (nice guy) picked, it was over that quick. so he get the best 3 cards, he must have a monster lead on me. he had one more point!!!
ow and the rev volcanic i got is pretty messed up, so he got maybe half more for just one point. At least they could have let use pick in turn, so he would still get 3 cards, one more then i would still get. But i would have gotten a bit better cards for my 2de place in a 68 people tournament.

    well thats all.
