It turns out that I used the list function wrong. But I'm way too lazy. Dear mods/admins: Fix this. Love, Zach.
Enjoy, folks.
Dear Zach,
Thanks for typing that.
P.S. Fix it yourself.
Love,
Caulyn.
Burning Tog represent, ROAR!
Way to be, Matt P.
Team Albany: What's Legacy?
You cannot know the sweetness of Victory, without first dwelling in the agony of Defeat.
That is like, super-mega-ultra cool that Figure of Destiny is seeing play in Goyf Sligh. I was really hoping it would find a place in Legacy, which apparently it has.

Any way all in all the tournament was great, and for the lack of activity in the thread for I was surprised that we got 44!!

... I'm boggled. What the hell?
"Stalingrad Stockholm Berlin Tel-Aviv the World Rotates to the Ultra Heavy Beat from the Gutter to the Top David Gearhart Will Never Stop (Naming His Decks Poorly)"
Why the fuck does everyone have a fucking problem with what I name my own goddamn decks? How about this, start ACTUALLY FUCKING BEATING ME and nobody will see what I name the decks when I lose with them? HOW ABOUT THAT, ASSHOLES? Goddamn sons of bitches how about a little fucking respect?
Sorry, but it's getting to be extremely repetitive. It was funny the first time and now it's fucking stupid.
Anyway, congratulations to everybody who Top 8'd, although I really don't like the manabase in that It's the Fear list. Wasteland? Four basic lands? Gigapede in the board? Random one-of Pithing Needle? Lack of Etched Oracle?
But hey, congratulations on the top 8 Dave.
For the foreseeable future, expect to see less of me. I've lost my internet connection, and so I'll only be able to get on by siphoning free Wi-Fi from the surrounding areas. Which isn't always consistent.
Plus, the guy that I used to leech off of has now instituted password protection. This means that I effectively do not have internet at home. :(
I wouldn't say that we're netdeckers, persay, but just people who usually play good decks. The lack of outside people (to my knowledge only 3 out-of-state folks showed) brought the numbers of good players down significantly. Let me breakdown the significant players and their decks, briefly:
- Geoff Smelski - Landstill
- Adam Barnello - terrible painter pile
- Colin Chilbert (Di) - 4c Survival
- Two Baskets - Ichorid
- Bryant Cook - too busy not getting laid to come to the event
- Raider Bob (scourge of Hadley) - no show
- Mike "A_Legend" Kellar - Red terrible painter pile (Imperial Painter)
- Damon "Parcher" Whitby - Ichorid
- Dave "Freakish777" Elrod - Dave Gearhart Deck WIns
- Carl "I top 8'd Worlds" Dilly-dally - Canadian Thresh
- Dave "Quicksilver" Price - RGBSA
- Nick "nickrit2000" Wowelko - worst metagame choice ever (goblins)
- "Friendly" Phil Stolze - UWg Landstill
Most people who have made a name for themselves on yon interweb played respectable decks. Trevor "Getsickanddie" Brown played the affinity list, and like every other noteworthy player played a "normal" deck (Tariq "Spiderfreak" White a landstill-y build, Nat "Brushwagg" Howland a Survival with painter combo). It's just that locals came out of the freaking wood work for this one.
When I was typing out the lists, I was just about as flabbergasted as you, Dave. But the list's name, which started at the proper area on the registration sheet, continued down the right margin about six inches, scrawled in perfect Parkinson's-having-third-grader penmanship. After I deciphered several words (several vowel-less words, and I thought "stop" was "strip" originally- imagine that image, folks) it made sense, and I was rolling with laughter.
As for the list, I was a little confused by the Bayou and City of Brass, but I've thought a 1-of Wasteland was worth it (against annoying shit like Glacial Chasm or Maze of Ith or just randomly screwing over today's terrible manabases). Congrats to Dave for the top 8.
It's a joke. Don't take it too seriously.
So, ready for this?although I really don't like the manabase in that It's the Fear list. Wasteland? Four basic lands? Gigapede in the board? Random one-of Pithing Needle? Lack of Etched Oracle?
But hey, congratulations on the top 8 Dave.
Here's the list of cards from the deck I actually own and didn't borrow from people:
Spells (9)
4 Brainstorm
2 Counterspell
1 Eternal Witness
1 Sensei’s Divining Top
1 Wedalken Shackles
Lands (7):
1 Forest
2 Island
1 Plains
1 Volrath’s Stronghold
1 Academy Ruins
1 City of Brass
Sideboard (6):
2 Blue Elemental Blast
3 Hydroblast
1 Gigapede
OK, fair enough. I didn't realize that you owned only sixteen cards out of that maindeck. Beating.
Yeah, won't lie though, I get a lot of shit for my deck names and sooner or later it just gets the better of me.
Thanks to Zach for the metagame breakdown and congratulations to Dave for a job well done.
