I give you Pikula, Divert and Misdirection but most of those aren't sideboard cards and BEB is only playable v. TES. I don't think it'll see sideboard as a 4-of necessarily, but I do predict it'll see play.

    Anyway I rest my point.

I agree with many. This can be an awesome anti-storm card for red decks, very good at countering Ad Nauseam. I think it's more effective if you're throwing burn at their head, making more difficult to play around it.

Keep in mind that this card only works against spells: meaning they have to be on the stack. Therefor you can only use it when Tendrils of Agony or Empty the Warrens are on there, meaning your opponent has most likely already cast his Ad Nauseaum/Ill-Gotten Gains, meaning they may have protection in the form of Duress or Chant.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's probably delicious.

Can you explain how they already have cast AN or IGG and you did not counter ?

So its only good cause non blue decks can suprise the combo player. Else it will go the same as always. Chant/duress

This card is actualy very good in the format if your a "not blue" deck, its probably best in ichorid actualy as that deck has ligitiment combo problems sometimes.

Side note: It exiles cascade ultimatem lmao

Isn't the "play around"-effect the opponent has to deal with better than the card itself?

    Re: [SCD] Mindbreak Trap

Seems potentially potent if you hardcast it too since it can be CA with 2 spells on the stack, and it will dodge CB. Seems like a more-than-solid card.

I do not find this card impressive at all as combo hate. Only the fact that this card exists will push people to play more than 4 Chant more. This card does absolutely nothing against a resolved Chant. Even in decks like Zoo, a competent combo player will see this card coming and be sure to Chant first anyway. You're way better of trying to resolve 2nd turn Cannonists and Teegs than randomly hoping for this to work out.

this card can also counter stuff that are uncounterable, like great sable stag in T2 or vexing shusher, and also somewhat hoses cascade. Otherwise it is pretty narrow.

AHAHAHAHA Combo is getting skrewed so bad! Now every deck gets to play countermagic postboard. Seriously, I've been playing Aggro Loam and that deck really needs combo-hate from the board. And the only real options start at two mana, not necessarily fast enough. This+Chalice@1=Try going off now.

And if you don't have Chalice and they cast Chant/Duress that's still good since the card is now buying you time the combodeck didn't originally have to wait. And you don't actually have to have the card in your hand.
You can mix two boardhaters like Pillar/Canonist/Teeg with two Traps and just skrew with their mind. They can't dare to go off without protection but then they can loose to the hatebears.

Sigh.... You lose to bounce + Chant. Chalice at 1 is waay worse than this card. ANT can barely win through Chalice at 1, but it can't cantrip into answers either. You win because of Chalice in this situation, not because you happen to have this card too.

I didn't meant to claim it was impossible to go off just that it's much harder. And I think the psychological effect is something very valuable that was reserverd to blue decks only so far.

Oh I just found out you can board it against Stompy aswell. But that's a lot more risky and not always a good idea. Tomb/City+Mox+Trinisphere is still only two spells.

Yeah, don't be fooled. This card isn't blue at all. This is sellout combo hate for decks that don't have it. Goblins is rejoicing at all the new toys it's getting.

The only psychological effect this has is making combo players board slightly less against aggro. This is actually easier and lets us focus more on combo hate. I hope everyone plays this so I can have easier sideboard decisions and more effective anti-counterbalance tech. Children of Korlis, Ethersworn Canonist, Orim's Chant, Silence, Abeyance, and Chalice of the Void are all a million times better. It's not like a legacy deck with a billion and one fetches/duals can't splash for silence/chant anyway if they want a good sideboard hoser (that isn't fucking awful against control).

That's why I said you can run two traps and two hatebears. That way you are giving the comboplayer more variables to consider. Up until now the comboplayer just looks at the zoo-man sees no Gaddock and just kills him. Now he has to figure wether that is worth the risk of getting hosed by the trap. He can either take the risk and go for it or play it slow and wait for protection. But that allows for a nasty permanent to come down. This will invariably lead to some mis-assessments on the comboplayers part. The more diverse the hate becomes the more difficult it is to evade it.

Teeg is worthless anyway. As is, storm has Wipe Aways and Ponders that aren't exactly stellar against aggro in addition to Chants that they board out (10ish cards) for every bounce spell available. Now we *only* board in 3-5 bounce/removal. Personally, I ignore Teeg anyway because it fails its basic function as hate for storm (I just play through it). Maybe this will be incentive for people to pick up NLS or the ANT-DD Hybrid.
