    Re: [Coverage] Jan 9 2010 Vestal Duals+Fetches

I'll be interested to see what the Dream Halls deck looks like. I have absolutely no interest in building it myself, but this is the second large tournament in (2? 3?) weeks where it made at least T8, even if the one that won in Germany looks like it's built for Extended speed.
    Great success!

I assume the dream halls deck won based off all of the bitching I hear coming from the thresh player.

Sorry about the poor quality, I had no time to set it up or test it.

Nice to see someone who decides to play it out finally wins. Seems like it's usually the reverse.

The experience is invaluable, but wow, props to him.

As stated, I'm incredibly jealous of the Legacy scene in NY, looks like another great tournament.

Tibbets is my hero! It's always cool to be able to say "I won the tournament." eta that I don't actually know any of these people so. Just sayin.

Went 3/4 with UGR countertop Thresh. The list was pretty awful, but there were some aspects of it I liked and I plan on developing it further.

    Anyway, props/slops:
    Props:
    Moes
    Caffeine
    The Pizza Place Next Door
Jupiter Games. Store is baller as fuck.
People who loaned me the random stuff I needed to finish my deck
    Black Sabbath
    Flight of the Conchords
    Nick for copiloting
    Fucking Catchphrase.

    Slops:
Saneteria Springs or whatever it is for not being Saratoga Springs.
My first round opponent topdecking into Pridemage, Pridemage, Heirarch, Path to Exile in consecutive turns immediately after I reset the board position. I drew a Daze and a land. Whoopie.
My driver side windshield wiper spray for malfunctioning the whole drive out.
Me for taking a shitty deck without the requisite amount of testing.
The Jets. The Cowboys. The Avalanche.

This was a lot of fun today. I hadn't played against that 3 color Reanimator until today though, and it was a roll of the dice for me. Awful match without Chalice @ 1 turn 1.

The Abyss does not kill Sphinx of the Steel Wind, and that's sad.

Sometimes, when reading these american tournament threads, I have the impression that anyone not wanting to split is frowned upon. Booo, splitting isn't manly, I mean, ending frakin' late is part of the fun in 80 people events.

Agreed. I always wonder why some events, like Meandeck Open, have a top 8 split. Makes me wonder if people actually like playing this game.

    Re: [Coverage] Jan 9 2010 Vestal Duals+Fetches

The reason why many of us split is because we're not up there for the tournament. We're up there to see friends. Not only are we hungry, but chilling with friends outside of the store is one of the biggest draws.

Splitting gives us more time to spend with the friends that we came up to see, while also giving us the ability to wind down from the tournament.
For the foreseeable future, expect to see less of me. I've lost my internet connection, and so I'll only be able to get on by siphoning free Wi-Fi from the surrounding areas. Which isn't always consistent.

Plus, the guy that I used to leech off of has now instituted password protection. This means that I effectively do not have internet at home. :(
