Maverick got a new 3 drop. Meet Kambal
What's everyone opinion on this dude.
Pros:
He's a 2/3 that can't be massacre, Kolizek Return, Pyrocalsm.
Can be return with Karakas.
dodges most damage-spot removal (with the exception of bolt).
Whenever a opponent tries to remove him, its a 4 L.P exchange for one spell they cast.
Cons:
Not fetchable with G.S.Z
fights the 3 drop slot with T.H.C/ Sanctum Prelate/K.O.T.R
I'm most likely going to be replacing my Sanctum Prelates with this dude. He's a threat that must be answered against Miracles, Delver, Storm, Lands.
Seems cool, I just wish the 3 drop slot wasn't so bogged down already.
I went 4-1 in a league today:
Deathblade: 2-0
Jeskai Omnishow/Mentor: 2-1
Jeskai Omnishow/Mentor: 1-2 (same guy lol)
RUG Delver: 2-0
UR Delver: 2-1
My current list is pretty close to Neely's. I cut the 3 Thalia, Heretic Cathar for 1 SoLaS, 1 Sylvan Library, and 1 Scryb Ranger.
SB:
3 Thoughtseize
2 Choke
2 Abrupt Decay
2 Zealous Persecution
2 Ethersworn Canonist
1 Gaddock Teeg
1 Reclamation Sage
1 Garruk Relentless
I didn't even realize I had a 14 card sideboard for that league until just now. I guess I will put the 4th Thoughtseize.
Do you guys prefer dark depths combo or having gaea's cradle? I cant decide on which. Also, what are opinions on maze of ith?
I'm putting this together based on what I currently own. Would I benefit more from another Bayou and/or Savannah, or a Gaea's Cradle? I'd like to run around 4 basics as I have a very Wasteland-heavy local meta.
// Creatures
4 Deathrite Shaman
1 Noble Hierarch
4 Mother of Runes
4 Knight of the Reliquary
2 Qasali Pridemage
1 Gaddock Teeg
3 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
3 Thalia, Heretic Cathar
2 Stoneforge Mystic
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Scryb Ranger
1 Dryad Arbor
// Spells
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Green Sun's Zenith
1 Sylvan Library
1 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
// Lands
4 Wasteland
4 Windswept Heath
4 Verdant Catatombs
1 Bayou
1 Savannah
1 Scrubland
1 Karakas
3 Forest
2 Plains
1 Swamp
Savannah would definitely be easier to pick up, and leaves money for more sideboard goodies.
Bayou seems less necessary than Savannah as the deck is primarily GW.
Cradle seems on paper like it'd be the least necessary, but it did look pretty sweet in some older coverage I watched today of Thomas Herzog.
Congrats to my buddy Jj top 8ing the Indy classic. I wasn't able to make it but he told me his loss was to stax in the swiss and Omni in top 8.

If I get a Savannah it's very unlikely I'll be able to swing for a Cradle as well. I could do Savannah and Scrubland but Scrubland doesn't seem very helpful for more than one copy.
I do have Decays in the sideboard, wasn't sure if I was going to put them in the main or not. I primarily play D&T and I sometimes find the lack of maindeck removal frustrating.
I notice that A.D. is moved to the S.B.
What caused this shift?
4-1 in another league.
Eldrazi: 2-1
Storm: 2-1
Omnisneak: 1-2
Aggro Loam: 2-1
Bant Deathblade: 2-0
Funny thing is, none of the matchups really looked good on paper, but the consistency of Maverick makes up for it.

Aside from the Orlando Classic 1st place list, I haven't see many well-placing lists with THC in them. Are you guys finding her underwhelming? Ive been jumping back through the history of the thread and saw a lot of talk when she was relatively new but not tons after. I was planning on a 3/3 split of TGT/THC but now I'm curious.
I tested her. She was pretty cool, but often felt too little too late. I have won so many games lately off the back of Scryb Ranger, I think I just prefer to stick with the classic Scryb, Sword of Light and Shadow, and 2nd Sylvan Library (which I cut pretty often, mainly there for Miracles).
I did win an otherwise unwinnable 2 games against Elves when I had Thalia, HC (I always kept him 1 turn away from a lethal combo, was able to wasteland cradles), so in certain metagames it might be worth it.
I think for Miracles.meta, Sword + 2nd Library are better, and that's basically where I am most comfortable (having a plan against the top and most common deck).
It doesn't, it uses both. He is only mentioning Light and Shadow because that is what he considers a "flex slot."
His list is right up here and has both Fire and Ice and Light and Shadow.
