Thanks for Playing in Urbana, MD is holding a sanctioned Legacy tournament on Sunday 12/20/2009. The store typically only holds Type 2/Limited tournaments, but at my urging and the interest of other local players, the owner has agreed to try holding a legacy event. Only catch is that I will be providing prize support myself (since the store owner only stocks T2 stuff and retail product), which can only be a good thing for everyone who attends :)
The entry fee is $20, and below is the prize structure and payout schedule:
Guaranteed Prize structure
8 players (payout top 2): 1st - 2 Tropical Island + Non-blue Dual; 2nd - 2 Force of Will
16 players (payout top 4): 1st - 4 Tropical Island; 2nd - 2 Force of Will + 1 Non-blue Dual; 3rd - Non-Blue Dual (or Mox Diamond); 4th - Non-blue Dual (or Phyrexian Dreadnought)
24 players (payout top 4): 1st - Mox Jet!; 2nd - 2 Tropical Island + Non-blue Dual; 3rd/4th - Force of Will
32 players(payout top 8): 1st - Mox Jet!; 2nd - 2 Tropical Island + Non-blue Dual; 3rd/4th - 2 Force of Will each; 5th-8th - 2 Fetchlands each
36 players+ Prizes to be scaled appropriately!
Payout schedule:
<=12 players - payout to top 2
13-27 players - payout to top 4
28+ players - payout to top 8
Also, prizes will be added in between the levels; i.e. If 12 people show up, prizes would increase from the 8-player prize structure to include something like 2 additional non-blue revised duals, or 4 fetchlands, or...well you get the idea. Since I'm providing the prize support, there will also be some flexibility re: prize trade and prize buyback.
The Jet is Unlimited, signed, and between Excellent and EX- condition based on Toad+Troll's grading guide AND guaranteed at 24 players (along with all the other prizes in the prize structure). I will try to post up scans before the event.

I hope people that have previously frequented the Dream Wizards legacy events can make it out to this (All you NoVA guys!). The store this is being held at is approximately 20 minutes northwest of DW, and right off the highway. Let me know if you can make it!

Most def +1! With prize support actually catering to the players, DW is in the dust with their skimpy prizes. I've heard of your store, but never been so what stuff do you trade in or buy? Just T2 crap?
I would love to make it out from Baltimore to this, but I'll be in Europe. Hopefully sometime next year.
I've never seen him so upset....or ever before.
I'm not sure exactly what the store owner will buy, T2 stuff definitely. Personally, I'll trade for or buy any Legacy staples/Power.
Sweet. Glad to hear it. Do you still play at Legends in Towson? If so, could you pass the word along? I know those guys mostly play Vintage now, but maybe they'd be willing to play some Legacy for a piece of power.Originally Posted by Beastman

I will be trying my best to make this, I'm pretty sure I'm good to go on that Sunday. And Jimmy, please play combo so I can play a deck that has an absurdly good matchup against you. And then proceed to lose to you anyway. Bastard.
they haunt minds...
I might be trying to make this. Basically, it's going to come down to whether or not I want to make this one or the one in Vestal. I know they're on different days, but there's only so much traveling that we could do in a day (especially after a magic tournament).
I know that the Vestal one has better prize support, but this one is less than an hour away. Compared to like four or whatever.
I'll see. Won't lie though, I would like to finally beat Jimmy P. The one time we played, the fucker got lucky as hell (even though he was still terrible) and beat me. Lucky bastard.
For the foreseeable future, expect to see less of me. I've lost my internet connection, and so I'll only be able to get on by siphoning free Wi-Fi from the surrounding areas. Which isn't always consistent.
Plus, the guy that I used to leech off of has now instituted password protection. This means that I effectively do not have internet at home. :(
@ Kevin - Thanks, sounds great.
@ Dave - Were you guys actually planning to go to the tournament in Vestal? I didn't think I'd be poaching much, if any attendance away from Eli; that certainly isn't my intent. If we knew about the Vestal tournament earlier we may have tried a different day, but we were already working through our final details before his tournament was posted on 11/26. Also, it's hard to work around all the tournaments in the upper Northeast - it seems like there's one every weekend!
Another thought - you could just leave Vestal at 7:30 AM on Sunday morning, and hit this one on the way home ;)
I should be able to make it to this, with a friend.
I'm definitely gonna try to make it up for this. Hopefully with at least two others as well.

"I do," Dunbar told him.
"Why?" Clevinger asked.
"What else is there?"
Holy Shit! Paul Lynch still plays Magic? Awesome.

Is there anybody who could lend out a deck for this? I'd love to come but don't have anything to play. I'm Simon Kamerow, by the way, the guy with the beard and glasses at Dream Wizards who played Aggro Loam at the last proxy tournament.
Hey Simon, it's David. You should just borrow one of Paul's decks.![]()
Uh, I can let you borrow my Eva Green if you can get the Wastelands (I can scrounge up 3 from my EDH decks if you can't)...
Edit: Oh, it also needs Maelstrom Pulses...
