Thanks sparkii and hrothgar! Well the inclusion of the 4th Fow main over the 2nd pierce was mainly due to my meta who occasionally plays 3-5 mud variants/chalice decks... wherein a spellpierce is weak on the draw. Since there's no miracles now..the sideboarding plan went to a faster removal with 2cc naturalize. If im bout to carry any artifact removal itll definitely never be a 1cc. The eldrazi matchup is tough! Tougher when your opp has 2 chalices opening...then theyll offer more trouble in wastelands, displacers, tks, taxes...it's just tough. With the sb help, I can get rid of the locks...but when ur dropping 1cc spells it sometimes affect our speed. That was the case in me losing to another eldrazi match.

Had a good run with Infect again last night and had an interesting experience that I don't think is unlikely to happen again, so I thought i would share it with you guys.
I was playing against Omni show. I have only spell pierce in hand and im threating him with 2 inkmoth, elf and blighted. I know he is about to get ready with a show and tell (he is almost hellbent). I pass the turn and he taps out for cunning wish. I could pierce this, opening myself completely to Show next turn. Omni show mostly find instants to protect the combo, so if it resolves he would have another counter, either flusterstorm or FoW. I let it resolve, he finds Fow.
Next turn he goes sol land and show and tell, now I cant pierce it.. If i could he would still have FoW ready. Emrakul lands and he passes. I draw brainstorm and I need permanent to survive annihlator 6 and kill him following turn, or any pump spell. I play it and he forces it.. and I lose the game a turn later with only 1 dude in play (saccing 4 lands and 2 creatures).
Now If I had pierced the Cunning wish, My brainstorm had probably resolved giving me 3 cards to find an out.
Assuming that cunnish wish is mostly used to find extra counters, I might have a better chance of fighting this situation better another time, namely countering the Wish and hoping to draw a relevant spell later.
Just thought i wanted to share. Hope it makes sense. :)
Neffy, in your scenario what was the card pitched to Force of Will?
Hi guys,
When to you bring in teferi's response ?
wasteland deck, STP decks ... ?
Legacy:Elves
Reanimator
Sneak Show
Infect
It is a reasonable option against anything with removal or Wasteland, but ideally you want it when it can hit multiple categories of things that will target your lands. If there are 8~12 targets for it in someones deck it is usually pretty easy to find a spot to use it, and is worth bringing in.
The place where is most obviously good is against Death and Taxes. Just 4 Plow and 4 Wasteland would be enough to make it good, but they also have Rishadan Port, which creates some of the biggest blowouts. Note that you can also use it against Jitte and Flickerwisp.
Another spot where it shines is against Lands, because they have Wasteland as well as Port or Ghost Quarter, as well as Maze of Ith and Punishing Fire (or even Molten Vortex, another nice blowout target).
It can be good against Delver, but you do need to look at what cards they are playing. If it is a BUG list heavy on Abrupt Decay (which can't hit Nexus) but light on Fatal Push, it may be too narrow. Against a Grixis deck with both Bolt and Push as well as Wasteland it is likely to be better. If you are playing an aggressive PoP version of UR Delver, they often won't have Wasteland so it can only hit Bolts and you will probably be better of leaning on Invigorate and Vines. If you are playing against a more controlling version with Wasteland and Grim Lavamancer, Response gets much better.
Against something like Miracles that will generally only have Plow that targets, it is great if you can get it to resolve but has too few targets for it to be a slam dunk include.
Thanks Chewemy! The updated list is not posted yet where I finished 1st, but it's the same old list (replacing KGrip with a 2nd Naturalize)
Old Decklist where I finished 4th: (http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=15623&d=295403&f=LE)
1 Blossoming Defense (Delver.dec that will pack more hate, can bluff an attack and clear way vs 2toughness, just about any hate is covered by this spell, can be on the offensive too by providing +2 more infect counters).
2 Flusterstorm (amazing permission to this deck since we chain pumps... and most importantly vs unfair decks that might be faster vs us).
1 Spell Pierce (cheap permission that covers artifacts and enchantments too over invasive surgery).
3 Surgical Extraction (GY decks ofcourse, can pump fluster... I do carry them too vs SnT!).
3 Swords to Plowshares (Delver decks to clear the sky.. DnT, tempoing any crit they attempt to equip, I insert 1 or 2 vs reanimators sometimes).
1 Viridian Corrupter (MUD, DnT, Pox.... Dodges cotv1, usually an added body when opp. is expected to carry more firepower vs our winnies).
2 Naturalize (same as above, but with Miracles gone, this is much cheaper especially with Taxes still is around. Dodges cotv1. Seal Primordium is nice here too! Bloodmoons/Plagues).
2 Pithing Needle (I won several games via probe/needling fetch... just so many app! wastelands, resolved pwalkers, grimlavaman, equipments, displacers, sneak, griselbrand etc.. 2 is my standard number even when playing my RUGDelver.

Thanks for sharing.
This list run 59/60 my same main deck.
I play only 2 Gitaxian Probe and 1 Green Sun Zenith.
Imho a simple and solid list.
Green Sun Zenith in main deck for me, give value at Viridian Corrupter from sideboarding in matchups where destroy Chalice or Jitte is the primary Target. In this meta take 2x1 generate great advantage and put into play an Infect creature AND destroy the artifact who give us some trouble can give us a great edge in the matchup.
Umezawa's Jitte:
This choice is good in this meta.
Jitte can give nice trick with the Infect mechanic, and the pump of +4/+4 have the same impact of Invigorate.
Only one trouble: sometimes Jitte are a little slow...this is not the best of our deck...but...anyway...is a sideboard cards, we can put her into 60 only when he can give a great edge in the matchup..I want to try her with many attention now!
Jace, the Best Sculptor Ever:
Whoa, this is the first time I see Jace into Infect deck.
With a search, I've found this list:
1st place at 74 KMC with Infect and....with one Jace in sideboard!!!
http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=15094&d=291391&f=LE
Well, now I have a new tech to try in 15's..
I don't know when put into 60 this card...for sure vs BUG and I suppose vs deck who try to lock our attack (Ensnaring Bridge?)...Thoughs?
I still want to try them (esp Jitte in the current meta), but it's worth noting that Sean Brown reached out to Kallan for the latest This Week in Legacy and he said he'll likely cut JTMS and Jitte next time.
Tried JITTE before (sideboard too) and never really liked it as it was too slow! Again after game 1, Opponents will pack more removals vs us, making us lose tempo upon equipping and tapping out after this is inviting trouble. Opponents will sometimes insert in artifact hate to battle our inkmoths, though it's one less target if they tried destroying our jitte. Well again, it's a matter of playstyle and it's healthy trying out new things to up our game.
One great thing I discovered too battling fair decks (uw control/grixis/pox which I beat during my last run to 1st place) that has tons of removals is removing BERSERK. After game 1 I replaced them with counters and a 2nd copy of blossoming defense. The usual GRIND is expected, game will be slow and instead of focusing to go fast with berserk (a 2 for 1 on an unprotected infector is devastating), as long as we can leave an infector in the field, we're good! just be patient, will get there!

Sorry for the double post, not much action lately... just wanna share I dominated another mini last night with the same list.... 2-0'ed every opponent to get me a free pass to Hours of Devastation....matchups were:
MUD (double bimmense build is nice here as you can cut numbers of berserks to avoid cotv set to 1, 4 manas and I was able to launch lethal even on a resolved Trinisphere with invigorate and the bimmense bomb.
BUG planeswalkers... the deck is slow, but can lock you down with loam/waste.... good thing all my croprots showed in the very critical time.
DnT... I been playing against this often in my meta and not much to discuss here... they just dont have much interaction once we detonate..You just need to study well what you need to counter and tempo the game. 2 crop rots are amazing here as well.

Ohh, very nice results!
I've ever played double Become Immense in my maindeck because CotV in my meta is a must (😔).
Vs MUD and Eldrazi Bimmense is very strong.
Idem vs Trini, Delve give us opportunity to play double pumping effect with no problems.
Rotation vs Loam is obv great...and it's the same vs Taxes.
The right timing of the play, vs Taxes, is what we need...but it's hard anyway.
*
Yesterday I've test hard vs Red Moon Stompy (Chalice, Trinisphere, Magus, Rebel etc etc) and this matchup is a sort of nightmare.. Fiery Confluence like removal.. Chandra in first turn + another bomb...
Sincerely I don't know how to beat this deck, explecially with sideboard..
This are my 75:
4 Tropical Island
1 Forest
1 Pendelhaven
4 Inkmoth Nexus
1 Wasteland
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Blighted Agent
4 Glistener Elf
4 Noble Hierarch
2 Become Immense
4 Invigorate
3 Vines of Vastwood
2 Berserk
3 Force of Will
3 Daze
2 Spell Pierce
1 Sylvan Library
4 Brainstorm
2 Gitaxian Probe
1 Ponder
1 Green Sun Zenith
1 Crop Rotation
+
1 Spellskite
1 Necropede
1 Pithing Needle
1 Seal of Primordium
2 Viridian Corrupter
1 Submerge
1 Force of Will
1 Krosan Grip
1 Dismember
1 Flusterstorm
2 Hydroblast
2 Surgical Extraction
and my sidein is:
+1 Necropede
+1 Seal of Primordium
+2 Viridian Corrupter
+1 Force of Will
+1 Krosan Grip
+2 Hydroblast
I'm not sure about Necropede.
Under a Moon effect I can play an Infecter, but this is the only reason.
Maybe I put in Dismember because I can play It under Magus to kill it, or I can kill Rebel.
Maybe we need Pithing Needle too, because of planeswalker but his CC = 1 is not good (have no sense cast Needle without target naming Chandra, just for fear of Chalice at 1).
Thoughts about this matchup and the sideout?
@Hrothgar:
Truly one of the toughest matchups out there is that RedStompy.dec! That's why I already upp'ed my FOW to 4 wayback, as this very deck can lock us down on turn one, even dodges dazes via SSG. Any moon effect resolved is totally devastating to us and having the 4th fow (OTP or OTD) will somehow gives us a bit of a chance vs this. Be always wary too to leave a fetch open so u could still get our much needed forest. VCorrupter is limited here, that's why I carry naturalizes (2x and hits targets efficiently than VC, much faster too vs Kgrip). If this shows alot in your meta, dismember would be the choice of removal. Packing in number of REB effects will help you too early on. The said deck relies on content consistency as it doesnt have library manipulations and cantrips. Once you avoid the early lock pieces they will try to launch early, you'll have a good chance. PLAY TIGHT!
anyways, here's the link of the decklist I used, placing back to back last week.

So I'm new to competitive legacy. I'm a modern infect + merfolk player who is looking to get into legacy. Since merfolk is still doing well in modern and unlikely to have any pieces banned, I'm planning to continue that as my main deck in modern. I still love infect though, but it's just not performing as well, so I thought I'd use the probe ban + fatal push + solemnity era to bow out and segue into legacy.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated when it comes to making the switch. I will only be investing ~$50 / month into this, so please keep that in mind with recommendations of what order to upgrade the deck.
My current (modern) decklist is:
4 Botanical Sanctum
2 Breeding Pool
1 Dryad Arbor
3 Forest
4 Inkmoth Nexus
2 Misty Rainforest
1 Pendelhaven
4 Windswept Heath
4 Blighted Agent
4 Glistener Elf
4 Noble Hierarch
2 Spellskite
2 Apostle's Blessing
2 Become Immense
4 Blossoming Defense
2 Dismember
4 Might of Old Krosa
2 Slip Through Space
2 Spell Pierce
1 Twisted Image
4 Vines of Vastwood
2 Wild Defiance
I own playsets of:
Brainstorm
Daze
Ponder
Preordain
Gitaxian Probe
Green Sun's Zenith
Swords to Plowshares
I own single copies of:
Savannah
Crop Rotation
Mostly what I'm missing (from lists I've seen) is the expensive stuff:
Tropical Island
Force of Will
Flusterstorm
Wasteland
Karakas
So knowing that, What order should I acquire missing cards? Should I run some number of Daze with that modern manabase? Just run more protection / pump instead of Force? Or a full 4 of spell pierce along with Daze? I assume my first month of ~$50 should go to the Berserks + Invigorates and maybe some green fetches ... then something like a FoW / month until I get a few? Then save up for the duals?
Thanks for any / all help!
You should probably wait with Daze until you get Trops. FoW is a good place to start since they will be a valuable card should you give up this project or go towards another (blue) deck. Running a pair of pierces sounds good as they are cheap and good. I would actually wait with berserks until you get the blue cards you want since they dont go into any other deck. Duals is a good investement, whose price only go up, so theres a point of beginning saving for them first.

The first Tropical Island is priority #1. Then your plan sounds correct. Berserks + Invigs, FoWs, Remaining Duals, Flusterstorms.
