Can someone enlighten me why the price of meddling mage has near tripled in 2 days? What did I miss?

Seems grading is getting counterfeit too

I think that's he point.
Mind adding some context jandax? Where's the photo from/how do you know it's fake? That kind of stuff.
Was browsing an auction site and came across that listing, from a phone screen it looks like brown packing tape over a toploader. I snickered and chortled and posted it here disguised as a joke with the hopes someone would enlighten us as to what it really is. Just looked ridiculous when you are used to seeing graded things locked up like so:

Timetwisters are almost bought out at MCM. There are still couple of Betas under 1000e. They are really bargains compared to Ancestral Recall and Time Walk Betas.
That clarifies things! Didn't know one could get something pre-graded, makes sense considering that there are a ton of <8 graded cards on the market yet it doesn't seem worth it to do if it's not a 8.5 or better

I don't think so. Have you seen how much an Unlimited Twister is?
I guess it's worth clarifying what you're asking!
You quoted raudo's comment from a month ago, but you appear to be inquiring about a spike to Unlimited Timetwisters from 11/30. Is that accurate?
If that is the case, I assure you the $5,000 price tag is not going to stick. I suspect speculators are moving on the Unlimited copies now. Based on the graphs in MtG Stocks, it appears Alpha copy's floor has long since settled, while Beta's is still finding itself (Beta is showing as more valuable than Alpha, which is unusual and to me an indicator that Beta's price is still recovering from a buyout). If Unlimited is twice as high as Beta, then my guess is that a buyout *JUST* happened, and the graphs support that it occurred 5 days ago.
That's what makes the most sense to me, unless there's suddenly a new format that only uses Unlimited cards and Timetwister is just the first to spike.![]()
There are still UNL Twisters at MCM thirteen copies under 1000e including near mint ones. If you need one I suggest to go there fast. :)
For the topic, I have been waiting Erhnam Djinns and Ifh-Biff Efreets to come down from the spike but it looks like they are never coming back.
Just bough a playset of UL Birds of Paradises as they are still cheap and useful in Old School![]()
Some comments on reddit seemed to say that Timetwisters were bought out with black friday deals, so one maniac is trying to force the price up after the market was bought out.

Supposedly, foil Unstable basics are Masterpiece rarity (1 in 3-4 boxes), so their pre-order price of about $20 is spiked to $50-75. Source being a source of Ben Belweiss or whatever of SCG.
Timetwister is a weird buyout, since its barely vintage playable, and thats 50% of the formats it is played in
