I detest the fantasy art genre. I'm a minimalist. Hence I don't like RKF. And why I like Stasis. Berserk is another one I forgot. And now that the Foglios have been brought up, Humility might be one of the worst arts on a Magic card ever.

Let's see how much derison I get for that one.

Does this mean you enjoy the wonderful work of a Mssr. Mark Rothko?

IMHO, Arabian Nights had some of my favorite art as well. Army of Allah, Pyramids, all of the Efreets and Djinns.

I loved pretty much everything up until (but not including) Fallen Empires. The art seemed to take a nosedive after The Dark... for some reason they started to incorporate overly detailed pieces that end up looking like an incoherent mess once shrunken down to card-size.

Congrats, Dilettante. You are my hero for the day!

I love Rothko like none other on this fine discussion board.

    For Bardo

There are a lot of cards with fantastic artwork, some of which have already been mentioned in this thread. There will always be more to add, though:

There must be some reason why this is my favorite card:

I do like Mondrian. Also, is it just me, or do people suck at posting their cards? I see like five posts mentioning art but not delivering. Maybe I just have to refresh a few times.

Regarding Mark Rothko, I don't see how something made 60 years ago counts as "modern." Ditto for Mondrian, whom I have a deep and abiding love for too.

As for Best Magic Art, I thought about this pretty hard and am going with Time Stop; though all of Scott Fischer's stuff is really amazing.

The art for Counterbalance is ridiculous too. Especially in foil.

Just once, I want to see Rob Alexander and John Avon combine their talents to make a mural of the Magic basic lands. I think between the two of them, we'd get images that even the most awe inspiring areas of our own planet wouldn't be able to express. Or better yet, get them to make a mural of altered art dual lands.

I think I need to change my pants at that thought.

I'm going to put in my vote for Quinton Hoover though. The combination of bold lines and vibrant color schemes does it for me.

Early one morning while making the round,
    I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down;
I went right home and I went to bed,
I stuck that lovin' .44 beneath my head.

An-Havva Township (or whatever the hell it is) from Homelands has always been one I've liked. Good call.
