Again, I don't see why Stax players would be at ALL concerned with Terra Eternal. Sacred Ground is already in print, protects from Armageddon AND Smokestack, and is cheaper to cast. Seriously, the spoiled card is awful SB material and will only find a home in janky man-land decks.

Thinking carefously i think you're right. It's not a real threaten.

By the way...has anybody tested Rishdan port here??

yes and it sucked for me. I tried it in blue stax and it was just too slow.

by slow i mean that was too much of a mana investment for what it did for me, and that i'd rather be using that mana to be casting spells or using horizon canopy to draw cards.

Terra eternal is terrible....it gives ALL lands indestructibility. Including your opponents. Thus rendering our armageddon's and ravages of war useless. No idea why we would use it instead of sacred ground to hate out in the mirror or against decks with nonbasic hate or just land destruction spells like sinkhole. Even then I'd prefer karmic justice so we can blow up their stuff when they blow up anything of ours to gain tempo and maybe take out their threats like a goyf, tombstalker, nacatl....the list goes on. And there's the problem that sacred ground is cmc 2 so if we have chalice there it's useless whereas we'll never stick chalice at 3 unless we already have a very good board position where we have a bunch of our cmc 3 stuff on board like g. prison, crucible, o ring....

O ring is almost always useful for me...if you have one in hand and they have nothing on board worth targeting you hold onto it. Oring is always a card I want to see with this deck generally and is almost never a dead draw unless you have a complete lock on them at which point you should be winning anyways.

Terra eternal might see SB play against us but then we can simply use aura of silence, oring, or whatever to remove it from play. Or we can stall for answers with prisons or smokestacks until we find an answer. Wastelock can help as well.

I was trying to find some way to stall longer with fog-like instants, and I found Constant Mists. It works with crucible, and since I play with KoTr. What do you guys think? Seems pretty nice except for the converted mana cost that falls below our mana curve for chalice.

Constant Mists is too dependent on Crucible of the Worlds. Also, it won't be a reliable way to stall against any deck with counter magic or discard. Maze of Ith is probably a better choice when you have KoTR since you can fetch it out. Most people use a single Kor Haven since it produces mana through.

Lately I'm testing with suppresion field MD instead Trinispheres (trinis are on side) and I have to say that them are a much better lock piece that the spheres because they will winning you the enough time to topdeck the finisher o lock pice you need. They are preventing better that opponent play cards.

An example of this theory: The other day I was playing against a survival, my opponent have 1 basic land in play and he was drawing only fetchlands so I will be using wasteland to destroy them. With survival he could search for qasali but in the same turn he cant play him and active him (thats 3GW) so I win the enough time to draw more lock components.

A fast list of used cards that suppresion will affect:

Top, explosives, fetchlands, vial, Relic of progenitus/tormod's crypt, wasteland, mutavault, cursecatcher (daze merfolk), ports, survival, qasali, genesis...

Initially I tested with 2 suppresion and now I quit the fourth Smokestack instead the third one. Anyone that have test this card too? This is my list for now and its quit well:

    25 Lands
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors
    1 Horizon Canopy
    2 Mishra's factory
    1 Kor haven
    3 Flagstones of trokair
    4 Wasteland
    6 Plains

    5 Creatures
    2 Baneslayer Angel
    3 Magus of the tabernacle

    30 Others
    4 Chalice of the void
    4 Crucible of worlds
    4 Mox diamond
    3 Smokestack
    3 Suppresion Field
    4 Armageddon
    4 Ghostly prison
    4 Oblivion ring

    15 Sideboard
    4 Trinisphere
    3 Aura of silence
    3 Tormod's crypt
    2 Sphere of resistance
    2 Sphere of law
    1 Magus of the tabernacle

    Thoughts?

Fields and still 4x Wasteland and 1x Kor Haven?
Okay, you're running 29 Mana sources, but has Field never caused YOU problems? I like that card, but I'd cut down to a minimum of activated abilities...

    Just a thought.

Yes, but usually opponent will be afected much more than us. Field doesn't prevent you from play cards only to disrupt the opponent with wasteland or kor haven, and field will be disrupting much more than this cards.

I haven't tried suppression field MD, but I love my trinispheres because it saved my ass many times and I can use it as a lure for any kind of deck with blue. It really depends on your metagame I would say. Since my metagame is full of thresh n countertops.. I would need trinisphere over suppression field. I will test suppression MD when I get off school or something. Sounds awesome since I hate playing against zoo or survival

That last one is actually a triggered ability.

While I do like the fact that Suppression Fields do stack, I believe that Trinisphere achieves the deck's goal on locking your opponent out of the game because it prohibits your opponent from developing their board more than Suppression Field does, not to mention that Suppression Field is more of a double-edged sword than Trinisphere is.

    Re: [Deck] Armageddon Stax

Yeah 3sphere is pretty disruptive on its own and is a complete counter magnet against lots of decks...and suppression field is a double edged sword. You need to cut down on your activated abilities cards and it can be painful having to activate a mishra's factory for 3 mana if you don't have a city of traitors out since tomb hurts us even more then when you have to tap it like 5 times in one game. Sure it's really good in some situations but sometimes when you topdeck say a wasteland it can sometime's be dead with field online. And trinisphere works with geddon effects quite nicely, completely shutting them down for a minimum of 2 turns if they have no board presence.

Maybe dumping matrix is a better option than field. I doesn't hurt us...

It doesn't stop lands (fetch lands), enchantments, or Planeswalkers through.

Well yes but i think that it covers a good stuff with no cost for us.

    It cuts:

    Top
    Pridemage
    Lavamancer
    Ravager
    PK
    EE
    Disk
    and so on...

    Re: [Deck] Armageddon Stax

Suppression Field > Damping Matrix in my opinion. Suppression Field is much more versatile (hits everything Damping Matrix can hit) and the fact that Suppression Field actually slows down your opponent's board development (mainly because it affects fetchlands) is key.
