I'm just gonna post a quick report here because I don't think it's gonna be detailed enough to warrant its own thread. First of all, you can find my list here.
Match 1: Charlie Cook, Merfolk
Not much to say. G1 I get Jitte, G2 he gets Jitte, G3 I get Jitte. Funny story: game 3 he goes to drop a turn 2 Jitte. Me: Daze, him: Force, me: Force, him: Force, me: Force, turn 3 I topdeck mine. "Sorry dude, but look what I just drew."
1-0, 2-1
Match 2: Jeremy Gilliam, Zoo
Lost this one. Don't remember much except siding in 9 cards (4 Blue Blasts, 3 Relics, 2 Submerge taking out 3 Standstill, 2 Sovereign, and 1 copy of 4 other things), seeing like half of them, and still losing.
1-1, 2-3
Match 3: Tom Swindell, Zoo (splash black for Dark Confidant)
Game 1, I cut off his only source of green with Wasteland, leaving him with 3 goyfs he couldn't cast. He got out a Nacatl turn 1 but I bounce it early and just swarm with fish.
Same side plan as match 2, game 2 I keep a hand with 3 lands and all 4 bounce figuring it would be great as long as I draw into some Merfolk. Instead, I just draw into counters, so I slow him down a lot. However, I never get any fish, so despite my efforts he finally sticks some guys and runs me over. Learned some awesome tech with Submerge in response to fetch, which I'm sure someone has already mentioned here before.
Game 3, side out Relics for Standstills since I'm on the play. Good decision: Zoo just can't handle Merfolk dropping 2 Standstills, apparently.
2-1, 4-4
Match 4: Alex Bertoncini, Merfolk
Don't even remember this.
3-1, 6-5
Match 5: Evan Philbeck, Dream Halls
He gets a game loss for insufficient randomization. It also seems like he's never played Merfolk before because he has to read what every fish does. Well anyway, I start swinging early and force his Dream Halls. He then plays Show and Tell. At this point, I have him down to 7 and on the field I have Silvergill Adept equipped with Jitte with 2 counters on it, in my hand I have a Merfolk Sovereign. I say sure, he drops Prog and I drop Sovereign. Untap, make Adept unblockable, drop 2 counters +4/+4, swing for 7.
4-1, 8-5
Match 6: Michael Rooks, Dream Halls
This was a featured match, but it's not posted online... weird. Anyway,
G1, I have no idea what he's playing because I see: 2 Islands, 2 Brainstorms (or Ponders?), 2 Lotus Petals. I just come out too fast.
I figure he's playing some sort of combo because why else would you play Lotus Petal? So I side in 3 Spell Pierce, taking out some 3 cost lords I think. Turns out combo can't handle 2 Standstills drawing into like 10 counters. Who knew?
5-1, 10-5
Match 7: Aaron Wayne, UW Tempo
Never seen this deck before, but it apparently T8'd SCG Dallas (played against the same guy). I think it's a really good deck.
G1, he steamrolls me.
G2, I really shouldn't have won but I did, mostly because he missed a Stoneforge trigger and I was being a douche and not letting him do it. Of course, he later gets me back on a missed Vial trigger so karma I guess. Except his mistake is worse because it lets me stick a Jitte.
G3, somehow I pull it out of my ass but I don't remember how.
6-1, 12-6
Match 8: David Martin, Aggro Loam
Don't really remember game 1, guess I came out too fast?
Game 2 seems pretty good until he Firespouts my board. Seems like a good play for him.
Game 3, I randomly decide to poop out 3 Lords and 4 Vaults, as well as randomly deciding to counter all but one Goyf, then letting him have 1 Goyf and 1 Countryside Crusher, then Blue Blasting the Crusher and Submerging the Goyf and swinging for the win. I kept up 1 blue the entire game to blue blast the Firespout, but turns out it wasn't necessary.
7-1, 14-7
Match 9: Alix Hatfield, Zoo
We ID.
7-1-1, 14-7
Quarter-final: Tucker Greer, Merfolk
So he knew my deck but I didn't know what he was playing.
G1: I make a bad choice of keeping a hand with 4 Merfolk (2 Adepts, 2 LoAs) and 3 lands. I figure it looked decently fast enough against an unknown opponent. He plays a t1 Cursecatcher and t2 Jitte and suddenly I realize how bad my decision was.
G2: He gets a t1 Vial through a Daze and a Force, coming out with only 1 card in hand. I figure that was a good sign for me, and I get out a Silvergill Adept and equip him with a Jitte. But then he randomly decides to draw everything he needs to win: Threads on my guy, LoA, Mutavault, Wake Thrasher... all the while I just draw the counters 1 turn too late (and also I apparently can't draw Merfolk with this deck).
Overall: 7th place
Pretty bummed on my loss in quarter-finals because that was the first time I've ever lost to the mirror in a sanctioned event. But I'm still happy that I t8'ed!

Good job dude.
Although, how was the Back to Basics on the side. It looked like you didn't need it. Would you replace it something else.
Also, good job on against the Aggro Loam. I find that when they sideboard in sweepers (especially Volcanic Fallouts), it's hard to deal with. Well, I find that anything with red on this format is hard to deal with.
And hey, it makes you feel a little better that you lost to the person who won the whole thing!
Congrats on your success man.
Never even used BtB. It was basically an old SB slot that I forgot about replacing. I need to replace it with something, not sure what quite yet. Most likely Propoganda or Threads/Mind Harness.
Also, previous post updated with player names and corrected game win-losses because I just realized the SCG page has those listed.

Congrats on your finish dyzzy!
Looks like the SCG was a friendlier place for Merfolk than GP Madrid (with 20% Zoo.. eek!).
Playing: Merfolk, Dredge
Working on: G/W Aggro, MBC
Learning: Pact SI
In storage: Enchantress
10th at the SCG 5k with the Fish. Will post a report in the morning.

Just finished the report here.
Or another Jitte. It is not good against Zoo, but with all the Merfolk in your area, I still think I would want more.

Isn't it a bad idea to draw multiple Jittes? I would imagine having 3 maindeck would be pushing it. Maybe SoFI or even Basilisk Collar?
Lifelink on Basilisk Collar could somehow help.
It can be bad, I suppose. But you commonly get stuff of this sort going on, especially in the mirror.
All in all, I don't think I would even mind drawing Jitte #2 unless the first one got Pithing Needled or something. If the first one is active, it probably does not matter what you draw. Llawan is obviously damned good in the mirror, but you are going to side in the Jittes pretty often against Bant and stuff of that sort.

Merfolk Hunter with Basilisk collar looks really good o.ob I do hope your trying that as I've been wanting to use Merfolk Hunter in legacy for a long time.Crap, did someone just catch on to my super secret tech??? Trying not to reveal it until the next big Legacy tournament I go to but let's just say it's inspired by some secret tech that debuted at PT San Diego for Standard...
Hi, I watched all 3 of these and noticed that you made some errors. One of them is that you cast standstill when he was going to have to pay for pact next turn. You can expect that you will get another turn and he wouldn't cast anything, so you should have waited to see if you would topdeck something you could sneak under standstill.
Furthermore, you shouldn't have cast standstill (even with a vial) against EE at 1, unless your hand was totally devoid of disruption.
It's smart to play spell pierce. Good job on the match too.
Hey guys,
here is my current build:
My sideboard so far looks like:12 Island
4 Wasteland
3 Mutavault
4 Cursecatcher
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Merrow Reejerey
4 Merfolk Sovereign
4 AEther Vial
4 Standstill
4 Force of Will
3 Daze
3 Spell Pierce
3 Stifle
My sideboard is not finalized.3 Echoing Truth
3 Hydroblast
3 Propaganda
3 Relic of Progenitus
2 Kira, Great-Glass Spinner
1 Pithing Needle
I currently own only 1 Jitte (although I also own a single Sword of Fire and Ice). Should I replace one of Sovereigns with Jitte or the single Jitte could become clunky. Would Basilisk Collar be a good Jitte alternative?
Also, as you can see, I do not have a main E-truth. Should I switch the slots of Stifle and E-truth? Stifles have saved my behind enough time but I do fear that something will resolve that will need to be addressed. What is your experience on this one?
I am happy running 4 FoWs, 3 Daze and 3 SpellPs. So far, throughout my playtesting, having that much counter keeps my opponent's bombs away. Also, with that much permission, I can concentrate my sideboard against aggro-decks.
Any comments or suggestions?
PS. For some reason, gravehate has been working for me against zoo. It makes their Knight of the Reliquary and Goyfs small and render their Lavamancers suboptimal. Although it is still a 45-55 in their favor.
