The first year they let fans submit decklists for the Invitational and Mark Rosewater chose 17 for the players to pick from, someone submitted the following list;
32 Plague Rats
8 Black Lotus
20 Swamp
Somebody actually used that, which means they built it. I didn't see pics on The Sideboard, but I didn't look too hard, either. One hopes there are some.
EDIT: I forgot The Sideboard never had links between pages; it's the 2001 Invitational for those of you seeking it in Wizards' archives.
it is. not too expensive either, i found it for ~$10USD on a couple sites. Personally I think it's ugly as hell. A guy in my area has one and it's an eyesore to see on a table. IDK, I don't like flashy playmats with large detailed pics. Just plain mono-tone mats with little going on
I collect German and miscut cards. Please PM if you have.
That's alright, sauce is just having a nerdrage. He's trying to put rules on 'pimping', while that doesn't make sense at all, and apparently everyone except sauce seem to realize this. But I must admit, I do like his deck, although as he's not pimping but making his deck look pretty, I wonder what Kird Apes he's running now. Can't be 8th, can't be FNM.
If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's probably delicious.
Team ADHD-To resist is to piss in the wind. Anyone who does will end up smelling.
Pimp for me is Foil Portuguese, if not available then it's original english. That's why I don;t post here ;)
Same feeling here.
People here seem to like only asian and foil, everything else is crap to their eyes. But Who said standardized taste is good taste?
Imho it's the opposite. Foil Jap is not personnal, a specific alteration (made by the artist, of course) is. I'd rather have a normal signed card that I made the artist sign myself rather than the same foil jap card that's on every forum.
I started "pimpin'" my decks with my favourite legacy deck: Landstill. Now I pimp all my decks with the same rules. Here they are:
1. BLACK BORDERS everywhere. And when this is done, the next step is Alpha/Beta. (these are much more pimp in Europe than in the US because we haven't had access for these cards for a long time)
2. ORIGINAL VERSIONS of the cards. That means IA Brainstorm over Mercadia Brainstorm.
3. Only readable cards. That means for me English and French. NO ASIAN. I don't like wasting time in the rounds because my opponent has to call the judge every time I play a card (they already call him when I play Humility, and the deck is really slow, so...)
4. NO FOIL (I don't play Pokemon. Those are for kids.)
5. SIGNING everywhere except on old expensive cards (Duals and Alpha/Beta).
Here is for the example my first "pimp" deck:
And I don't want to read "This should be foil jap"!
PS: One Fact is Foil, but it has a specific history, that's why I keep it.
@ Sea, I actually would like to see more decks pimped in non-Asian languages. Beautiful deck.
That said, I am much closer to finishing all Chinese Dredge.
I know it's considered a budget deck, but some pieces took me months to track down, namely the Golgari Grave-Trolls, which I ended up paying $7 each for (not expensive, but a pretty high premium over English). Ichorids have been illusive, and I only have one Chinese at the moment. The deck isn't finished in the pic because I'm really not sure whether to Chinese out the LED version, which would mean tracking down Chinese Unmasks, or the non-LED version, which would mean getting some Tireless Tribes. The mana base at present is nearly all English/non-Chinese, which is why it isn't shown.
Also, an update on an earlier deck I posted (here & here) , I managed to track down Chinese Lord of Atlantis:
I was originally going to track down FBB (as in limited edition) LoAs, but, and I know this isn't popular, I really like the Timeshifted Chinese cards. The look new, clean and they have an easy-to-read font. Also, since all the other creatures are new, old just looks bad. (Edit: oh yeah, and this version actually has the errata where he's a Merfolk, unlike the other FBB Chinese version.) Force of Will looks horrible in this deck. I really hope I get a Chinese FoW reprint soon.![]()
You know what? My friend has a S-Chinese playset of Ichorids.
Should I contact him for you? :D
Also to both the above posters, awesome decks! I love seeing all-same-language (plus or minus beta) decks.

I have a foil breakthrough I can get rid of.
I'm about 50% done with my enchantress deck now. Pictures coming when it's done.
Whenever I see a kid in a wheelchair it makes me a little sad. Because I always think, "Gee, they could have used those same wheels to make a bike for a regular kid. What a waste."

Pretty hot.
Yeah, pretty much, unless I maindeck Stifles, which I may still do. They're the next card on my hard-to-find-in-Chinese list.
Yeah, I'm so impressed with the look and feel of Timeshifted, I might actually just go for Timeshifted Gemstone Mines for Dredge. The price difference between WL and Timeshifted is only $1. Still not sure because older cards in Chinese are certainly more pimp.
@yawg, that black, borderless Sol Ring is sweet.
@Gunslinga, am I missing something about those ZOrbs or are they just German?![]()
They are German.
^^Japanese Foils FTW!
