In my view, Faerie Macabre is better than Noxious Revival. It isn't as cute, reviving Narcomoebas or saving your cards from doom, or even giving opponents dead draws. But it is uncounterable and hits 3 cards against Reanimator (giving you a exhume target too ^^), while still helping against Extraction and saving other cards in your graveyard almost as well as Noxious. And it can be pitched for Ichorid.
If you fail to explain the reason behind your choice, technically, it's the wrong choice.
Zerk Thread -- Really, fun deck! ^^
Faerie is not uncounterable.
This man is a truthspeaker! You deserve a beer - if you see me in Ghent, you may present yourself to me as The Speaker of Truths and I will buy you a beer of choice
Stifle.
Anyways,any1 read the ferguson report?sphinx to draw outs foe leyline:D

Ok, technically it can be countered by Stifle, but how is that not better than Noxious being countered by, uh, any counterspell? Way less decks run Stifle.

Here's the report.
Sorry, i can see where you would think i'd think that Sphinx to draw outs aganist leyline. I didnt mean it like that, ha. What i meant: A) More Chain of Vapors in deck= better chance of drawing it aganist leyline, B) Sphinx to give me more speed aganist combo, C) More Fae Macabres= Higher chance of starting with one in the opening hand. That concept just became a bit cluttered.
So first things first congratulations for the high finish. Way to go,keeping us DTB!
So dispite my bias against combodredge, I like your list a lot more than FKZ.dec
Report is entertaining, too!

First of all, congrats on the finnish!
I just wanna ask you about the use of LED. Dide you take them out post game 1? What do you usually do with them after game 1?
thanks
I almost never sided them out. The interaction with Faithless Looting is too good to lose. Instead, I play them and save them until i'm sure i wont get blown out by graveyard hate. They are a early game combo card in G1 and a late game (turn 3/4) enabler in G2/3
Should I feel insulted? Dredge is consiently performing well and it just got downgraded to tier 2? All right. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Anyway, 13 lands seemed perfect to me. 12 was too few, with 13, I nearly never had mana issues. Haven't tried 14, though, but I have no idea what the cut there for the 14th land is.
Awesome, hop aboard the Flayer bandwagon.
Established deck? Like hell, didn't it just top 8 GP Indy? Ya, totally should be downgraded after that.
That's Doctor to you. Dr. Edge.
Also, Congrats Klazam!
Sideboard question for you: Why Macabre over Leyline? With only 2 Ichorids in the main, I feel like the fact that it is Ichorid fodder is negligible. Both have to be in your opener and leyline is much more powerful, so it seems like leyline would be the better choice for a combo dredge list only running 2 Ichorids.
That's Doctor to you. Dr. Edge.
Two reasons: it is also brought in aganist surgical extraction/snapcaster Mage. In that matchup I also bring in all of my ichorids so it is ichorid food too.
The secod reason is for reaninator. One of the things that this deck dies to is entombing for elesh norn. Leyline in this situation will just lead reaninator to bounce the leyline first before entombing Ms. Norn. Fae macabre is much more unpredictable.
Calm down guys... No longer being a DTB means lesser people expect us... muhahaha
@Klazam
I am going to test Flayer of the hatebound in different Dredgelists and scenarios these days. I think he will be good, but he needs so much space >.<
Are there any maindeck-changes you would do in your list, now after the finish?
I think you should add the 4th Study and cut something [a Breakthrough, maybe?] for it.
I definitely agree. The effectiveness of Faerie Macabre is highlighted in the Reanimator match-up, where even Chain of Vapor isn't as effective in comparison because they come prepared for that with counterspells.
I find that I rarely get to side-in Faerie Macabre against decks with Surgical Extraction, though. Maybe I'm just not playing it right - or maybe I'm just not playing enough.
Cheers,
jares
I find it interesting that our sideboard choices are very much alike, given that our decks are distinctly different (I'm going LEDless, without DR):
- [4x] Faerie Macabre
- [4x] Chain of Vapor
- [3x] Firestorm
It's unfortunate that Firestorm has underperformed in your experience, but I would like to vouch for the card's effectiveness. I also used to be a skeptic, not running even a single copy in my sideboard, but I eventually gave it a try and it has not disappointed me so far. From a logical perspective, I find it difficult to say no to a Flame Wave for one red mana, given that I'm also able to effectively discard cards in the process (in fact, I'd like to run the 4th Firestorm if I have the space for it).
I have always thought that running less than a full set of Cabal Therapy was a blunder, but I think that I would now agree that running just [3x] in the main deck might be a better fit for a configuration that is built to win via the combo route; running the 4th one in the SB seems like a good idea.
Congrats on the finish! It's a shame that we're no longer in the DTB list even if we're still frequently performing well.
Cheers,
jares
NecroYawgmoh- All day, i felt that careful study was the weakest card. I'm curious to your reasoning for cutting a Breakthrough for a Careful Study? Regarding my maindeck- I'm really pleased with what i have right now. The only possible slot that could be worked on is whether it's needed to add a 14th land or not. (I don't think it's at all needed.)
Also, I don't think too much space is needed for the Flayer. Just the third Dread Return and cut the Flame-Kin Zealot.
Jares- I'll keep on trying firestorm in testing, but from what i saw in the GP, I never needed it/cast it. (I did have it in hand multiple times, but there were always better things to do with my mana. )
One interesting observation- Dredge is slowly becoming two different decks, with very slight variation between the two- The Combo Dredge deck, which aims to win as fast as possible, and the Attrition Dredge, which seeks to win through superior "card advantage" over the opponents. Am i wrong in making that statement?
