Fellow warchief with this kind of manabase you're prone to price of progress in u/r and burn decks which are rampant in todays meta plus also wasteland target also thru kotr in mavs or crucible of worlds in u/b control builds which could mana screw you, I suggest - 1 badlands -2 fetches then add 3 mountains.
Yeah, 8 fetches are a little too many. Mostly when this deck is mana hungry, you might run out of mana producing lands at one point (unlikely).
I'd go for -1 Badlands -1 Fetch +2 Mountain.
Couldn't get my hands in a set of Cavern of Souls, because everyone who's holding one won't pass it foward.
This would be the list I'd run:
4 Wasteland
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Auntie's Hovel
4 Badlands
3 Mountain
2 Chrome Mox
4 Goblin Lackey
4 AEther Vial
4 Goblin Warchief
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Goblin Piledriver
4 Goblin Ringleader
4 Goblin Matron
4 Warren Instigator
2 Siege-Gang Commander
1 Kiki-Jiki Mirror Breaker
1 Bloodmark Mentor (this is so awesome).
1 Warren Weirding
1 Gempalm Incinerator
2 Pyrokinesis
SB: 3 Perish
SB: 2 Boartusk Liege
SB: 3 Tormod's Crypt
SB: 2 Thorn of Amethyst
SB: 2 Mindbreak Trap
SB: 2 Shattering Spree
SB: 1 Goblin Sharpshooter
Taking the other side of the knife, I'd advise against massive removal, and just overwhelm the board with cheating. Using Goblin Piledriver along with Bloodmark Mentor is stupidly good. 19 lands + 2 Chrome Mox is being nice so far, but I couldn't test further than Cockatrice, so I don't know if that's too few. This archtype seems very strong, especially if blue rise again.
Let your Dredge 6 be: Narco, Narco, Narco, Bridge, Bridge, Dread Return
I'd probably want to play more mountains but can't fit them in. I guess I'll have to risk it. The issue is getting black. I play 4 warren weirding main deck so I need the black. 11 sources (8 fetches + 3 badlands) is the min I'd go. Lackey followed by a t2 warren weirding has won me many games so I want to consistently get black by t2. I'm seriously thinking of cutting ports for mountains if my current manabase is too flimsy. Oh well, can't have everything.
jim davis (gobs) vs joe kahzdan (ur delver) on scg round 5Judge made a bad call
Playing mono red gobs with 17 mountains and 4 wasteland, the question is,
is it worth playing price of progress in the SB? it looks like it could hurt other decks and bring them within reach of finishing them off. I mean instant 1 colourless and 1 red to do 2 damage for each non basic land seems pretty good to me.
Comments?
Wnato to see the Jim Davis footage =]
To bad the kid that top8d didn't went well. Imo he should not have paid for the MWM echo when his opponent had the birds out. With 3 manas he could do a lot of other stuff, maybe even topdecking removal...
He ran 2 Cavern of Souls, with some Ports ans only 12 R producing lands for Gempalm. Does anyone knows if it was good?
Super Bizarros Team. Beating everything with small green dudes and big waves.
I organized little tournament (16 ppl) and I played my classic list.
1. Dredge
I thought my opponent plays the gate, gemstone mine into looting suprised me. I try to resist with fanatic and he did some mistakes but Iona led him to victory. Second one was quick due to well situated relic. Leyline on my side opened third game, sadly got destroyed immediately. Relic hit him though.
2-1
2. Reanimator
First game is really quick beacause he was mana screwed.
Leyline showed again in second, in third turn he show and tell (hellkite overlord x sgc). Dunno why he played hellkite, seems like odd choice for me. Stingscourger on hellkite and pyroblast on another show and tell and thats it.
2-0
3. Aluren
He’s not able to keep pace with my horde.
Two cabal therapies (and flashabacked) strip me of everthing in my hand,
In third my port and his manascrew ftw.
2-1
4. Canadian RUG
First turn: delver, second: delver, delver ouch. Gempalm one, stingscourger second, he then show me two bolts.
Game two was really epic. He starts again with delver (fanatic) and three goyf in row. Thanks to mwm gempalm got rid of one and pyrokinesis kill second one. We them attack each other for some turns(my draws: pyrokinesis, land, vial) until our lives are 3(me) 2 (him). And then miracle relic appears -> ringleader (only gempalm). Here I made mistake, I should kill ¾ goyf immediately, he killed my goblins with forked bolt and attack into my ringleaer which forced me trade 3 for 1 block+pyrokinesis. Next draw was chieftain, lol …
I keep reasonable hand with relic, mwm etc. Which turn into nuts after he show me 2 nimble mongoose. After some desperate attacks into my mwm tokens he gave up.
2-1
5. 12post eldrazi
I wanted to see this matchup in top (and he is friend) so I gave him win.
We tried three games where I keept good hands and killed him fast.
0-2
Top4 12post eldrazi as I wanted
Keep average hand compared to previous games with him. I play some dudes but everytime i try to attack he repeal my chieftain and he takes like 3 damage or so. After that I overwhelm him. He probably could win this one since he forgot to outfetch one of his sensei top.
Mulligan hand with one land and vial into 6 with one land and two vials and lackey. He replenish my vial twice, but he can’t find cloudpost. Eventually one(of two) lackey hit him through Maze of Ith and drop sgc. He energy field and fog me twice (flashback one) and even with top and fetches he didn‘t found all is dust…
2-0
Final Canadian RUG (player from fourth round)
I dont remeber this match very well, but it ended with five tokens(mwm, sgc) and fanatic on my side which simply overwhelmed him.
Keep good hand with vial, vial, fanatic and ringleader from what I remember. Then draw another vial, heh. First got dazed, second one forced and third made it through. He played large goyf and decide to attack me even though I have lackey on table and then played delver for block. Long story short lakcey drop ringleader into infinite goblins. Scoop.
2-0
All I can say: lucky as always. Hope to play again this week in bigger tournament. If so, I will report it too.

Nice report Yuri8, thanks for sharing.
Did anyone else here laugh when Gerard Fabiano asked why Goblins doesn't play Goblin Guide?
I also played in a local tourney on Saturday. It went pretty badly for me, which was a little bit my fault and a little bit bad luck.
Decklist
1x Stingscourger
1x Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
2x Siege-Gang Commander
2x Gempalm Incinerator
2x Goblin Piledriver
1x Goblin Sharpshooter
4x Goblin Ringleader
4x Goblin Lackey
4x Goblin Matron
3x Mogg Fanatic
4x Goblin Chieftain
3x Warren Instigator
1x Tuktuk Scrapper
2x Tarfire
2x Pyrokinesis
16x Mountain
4x Wasteland
4x AEther Vial
Sideboard
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Relic of Progenitus
2 Surgical Extraction
4 Mindbreak Trap
2 Chalice of the Void
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Anarchy
1 Zuran Orb
I added a Zuran Orb to my sideboard because it seems pretty decent against Burn and UR, both of which are fairly common in my meta.
R1 Zoo
G1 I'm on the draw. He beats me down with Quasali Pridemage and Goblin Guide, and naturally had removal for my T1 Lackey.
I didn't know whether he ran Goyf in this build, so I only sided in the Relic of Progenitus, just in case.
G2 I land a T1 Vial. He plays T1 Lavamancer. I vial in Mogg Fanatic to kill it. I overwhelm him with Ringleaders and take the game.
G3 is an amalgam of games 1 and 2. I take a couple Quasali Pridemage hits, but I manage to clear his board with a Pyrokinesis. I then start attacking and overwhelm him with Ringleaders. W
R2 Dream Halls
G1 I'm on the draw again. He leads with Ponder off of Island. I lead with a Lackey that resolves. He Brainstorms then fetches for another Island. I connect with Lackey and cheat in a Matron. I tutor and cast a Piledriver. He plays a third Island. I attack for 7, cheat in a Ringleader and Tarfire him. He Intuitions on my end step for Show and Tell and Dream Halls me next turn.
G2 I sided in Surgical Extractions and Red Elemental Blasts. I mull to 4 looking for a keepable hand. The first three were terrible regardless of match-up, and I never saw any hate anyway. I lost to Progenitus. L
R3 Motherfucking Astral Slide
G1 and I'm on the draw for the third time today. For those of you unfamiliar with this deck, it was designed 10 years ago to beat goblins. This version runs Punishing Fire/Grove in addition to all the cycling shennanigans. I scooped G1 after he resolved a Humility.
I sided in Extractions, Tormod's Crypt, Relic, and Anarchy.
G2 T1 Goblin Lackey. T2 Chieftain and Piledriver. Waste keeps him off 4 mana for his bombs. It's over pretty quickly.
G3 I open on a hand with Anarchy. He lands a Moat. I build up for a few turns then cast the Anarchy. Good stuff. However, he gets Grove/Punishing Fire going. I Waste the Grove and when I draw a Surgical Extraction I, for some horrible reason, extract a Timely Reinforcements he cast earlier. Friends, Goblin Players, Countrymen, there is no excuse for that play. I gave him the game right there, as he later used Punishing Fire off of the Grove he had in hand to clear my board and take the game over. That was entirely my fault. L
1-2
R4 UWb Stoneblade (GP Winner)
I win a long and drawn out G1.
G2 I lost when I Matroned for Gempalm to kill his lone Spirit with a Batterskull on it. The matron made it 5 goblins in play for me, but I had sided my Gempalms out in favor of Surgical Extractions. Very silly. I recommend NOT being like me when sideboarding. If you need to take a few Gempalms out that's fine, but always leave at least 1 in as a 1-of Matron target. It just makes sense.
G3 I was never really in it. Had a slow hand with Vial and a high curve and just sat there while vial ticked up and he played out his hand. Ruff.
1-3
Pretty pathetic. Even moreso that my bad play R3 destroyed my chances of making top 8.
For future events I'm thinking something along these lines....
1x Stingscourger
2x Siege-Gang Commander
2x Gempalm Incinerator
2x Goblin Piledriver
1x Goblin Sharpshooter
4x Goblin Ringleader
4x Goblin Lackey
4x Goblin Matron
3x Mogg Fanatic
4x Goblin Chieftain
3x Warren Instigator
1x Tuktuk Scrapper
1x Tin Street Hooligan
2x Tarfire
2x Pyrokinesis
12x Mountain
4x Cavern of Souls
4x Wasteland
4x AEther Vial
Sideboard
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Relic of Progenitus
2 Surgical Extraction
4 Mindbreak Trap
2 Chalice of the Void
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Anarchy
1 Zuran Orb
I just thought of a goblin card that would be awesome, kinda a mixture of Piledriver and Gempalm Incinerator...
Goblin Bolter
R1
Creature- Goblin
Haste
When Goblin Bolter attacks you may have him deal X damage to target creature, where X is the number of attacking Goblins.
2/1
Overpowered but not too overpowered. 2 abilities like Piledriver, one of which is based on the number of goblins attacking. The damage ability gives a way to control the board, not deal damage to players, which has been goblin's game since forever. I thought about whether to give him haste or not, since Cavern>Lackey>Bolter seems too back-breaking, but I actually think Legacy is fast enough that he wouldn't completely dominate the format.
A thousand apologies for playing make-believe. This ability just came to mind and it seemed like something that could reasonably be printed.

Yeah I have a feeling "kid" is synonymous with "dude" or "guy" the way it was used. Nick is not unknown in this thread. Whenever he top 8's a Jupiter event it gets mentioned (here). Congrats to Nick on his finish!
I'm still working on my playset of Caverns. I'm toying with the idea that a list with both Tin Street Hooligan and Earwig Squad would be worth the additional exposure to Wasteland and Price of Progress... need to test.

Maybe 4 Caverns + 4 Fetches + 1/2 Duals should be enough to a 1 card splash.
I'm currently trying to do a list with only Goblin creatures (And Gempalm Incinerator). That way ALL your cards (if we don't run Vial) can be uncounterable. The Removal could be x Fanatics, 4 Gempalm, 2 Sting, 2 Sparksmith, 2 Sharpshooter, x Murderous Redcaps, don't know... Maybe it just sucks though...
