Hi guys
Thought I'd share my Vintage Burning Oath deck:
and sideboard...
I have a Japanese Lab Maniac on the way! Need help sourcing a Japanese LED though :(
Cheers,
Ben
Heh. I was just thinking as I looked at the deck that you needed a Japanese LED. There are a few on everyone's favorite auction site at the moment. They're expensive, but Japanese LEDs are crazy rare, so it's not much of a surprise I guess. Usually they end up selling as playsets, but it looks like there are a few sellers who are willing to sell single copies, if you just want it for vintage.
Beautiful deck though, I'd personally go with Japanese Arabian Nights art City of Brass, as opposed to your alters, but that's just a personal preference, as I prefer that art. I'd also prefer a non-signed Lotus, but again, personal preference. I'm actually hoping to pick up a Twister at GP DC, which will at least let me play Burning Long w/o proxies, but mine won't be as complete as yours, sadly.
What it takes to be a pimp:
1. Knowing the right people.
2. Have the money
Not one or the other, but both.
The fastest way to become a millionare is to start with a billion dollars, then start collecting magic cards, eh? - dry cereal
^^That's some clean looking power. Looks good man
I love my altered Cities - I think they look amazing :)
I admit that having Beta Wheel, Demonic and Sol
Ring would be lovely... Next on the list. After the LED of course ;)
(This is a quote about Foil Russian Jaces)
That would mean between 174 240 and 348 480 Russian Booster Packs (between 2 613 000, a bit less than Alpha, and 5 227 200 cards total). Isn't that too low? If total print run of Worldwake was let's say 1 billion cards (if Crystal Keep numbers are correct, a set like Revised already had 0.5 billion cards printed), then only between 0.2613% and 0.52272% of them were in Russian. Those percentages seem too low.
This isn't directed at Matt but every time someone says there's X of -insert "super rare" language- it's total bullshit. It's all hype and the prices have nothing to do with rariety. If they did Portuguese would be astronomical since that's a print language that's actually hard to get. Russian sellers are just price gouging like Japanese before them.
Woah woah woah. That quote is how old?
That was my number based off of a few people telling me this, and a little while ago, but I agree, the number seems far too low. They're just desirable cards since they look freaking sweet and are quite rare.
As for print numbers, we can't really know, since as far as I know, they don't release those numbers.
-Matt
I wonder if something like a foil Russian Jace is really rarer than for example some foil Japanese Mercadian Masques rares. There's nearly the same chance to get a Foil Misdirection from a Mercadian Masques booster (1 per 4400 packs) than a Foil Mythic from Worldwake (1/4356). While I'd bet that more Worldwake cards were printed, I have no idea of how many Russian packs were created in comparison to Japanese Mercadian Masques ones. In practice, what really matters is what is available in the market, but it'd be great to have at least an approximate idea of print runs of some rarities...
@Cabs those Cities are really excellent, dunno if it's the detail or just the quality or what but I like them so much

sorta off topic but i figured if anyone knew you probably would.
I've wanted to get a playmat altered by a number of original MTG artists. The main setting I want the playmat to have is the picture on time walk (Amy Weber) . I figured After she drew that I could get other artists to put their works somewhere along that setting. Ancestral Recall in the background, demonic tutor walking among the skeletons, Moxes could be handing from the tutor / skeletons. Put a blackouts on the ground growing. Put a yawgmoth running through the gate in the back of time walk.
Anyways Where i'm going with this is are these artists still around? I haven't seen Amy weber's name at any GP's or events to have an opportunity. Douglas Schuler seems like a hard one too. Maybe you have a suggestions for accomplishing this task of mine?

why cards are so expensive...hoarders
The original artist get harder to track down year after year.
Quinton Hoover passed away this year.
Several people don't sign anymore (Chris Rush, Amy Weber, Richard Thomas, Cornelius Brudi and Andi Rusu).
Some artists can only be contacted via Daniel Chang (Doug Shuler, Jesper Myrfors)
Dan Frazier, Julie Baroh, Mark Tedin can still be contacted via email. I am sure they can help you out.
