Not actually sure what that part of your statement is supposed to mean. It's not relevant to the conversation, in my opinion. One claiming to be from Texas, and the other from Nebraska.

His blocks of text happen to be a fairly spot on view of the situation. I am a Phyc student, I more or less agree with everyone he had to say.
If you keep going back for more abuse, then there is something more fundamentally wrong in the situation. There are 2 stores I do not go to because I do not feel I wish them to have my money. If the owner of the store was paying people to hit me, you can bet I would stop giving that store my money too. I am not saying that anyone here is lying, only that this is fucked up beyond all reason for more reasons than one. The biggest reason is that someone is so starved for attention and friendship that he would agree to go though that just so he can be known.
Its not funny, it's a sad reflection of how the mind works when something is wrong with a person. Both the one taking the nut shots and the bully paying for them to be taken. How much of a dick do you have to be to not outright ban a guy but instead abuse him for your own entertainment?
I am disgusted by the fact that most of the posts I read seems to find Alex is "whatever you want" because he went in a shop where people would hit him (or because he cheated to a game).
The crazy thing for me is that there was players who will HIT him for a booster??
And almost nobody here is saying than hurting someone you don't even know to get magic cards is totally crazy??
Fuck.
I re-read the OP thinking I would try to steer the conversation back on topic... But arm chair psychology and justifying physical harm against cheaters was sort of the point huh?
In defense of what Parcher said above, my high school friends and I participated in a similar game of 'ball tap'. If you left yourself open, it was expected that you'd get whacked and everyone would laugh. It's a thing... I don't know why... The difference amongst my friends is that no one was singled out. And I am not saying me > you. My friends and I singled people out in other ways because of reasons. Socially motivated behavior makes people do things they wouldn't in a vacuum.
I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel

They let the bartender hit them in the nuts
No bullshit. We used to have wrestling matches in the parking lot, we would ghost-ride around poor norms just trying to do their Saturday shopping, and drinking contests were the usual. Of my favorites, one would be me and Barnello being the last men standing after a 6-hour marathon bar crawl, We entered the last bar just before we were told last call. "Whaddya want for last call gentlemens?", inquired the bartender. Keep in mind, there were still probably 5 or 6 of us still upright enough to make it to the end, but only Adam and I had yet to tap out. "Three bourbon and Cokes, and a pitcher of beer", replied Adam. "How many glasses?" Adam looked him dead crooked in the eye, "One." To be fair, I actually think Adam consumed more alchohol than me that night. But he passed out on the floor, and I was still upright for the rest of the night. So I guess it was a draw.
Second favorite was drinking until three in the morning, then watching Dr. Dan eat a half-dozen fried eggs at the diner. Then the whole group watching him try and find his room back at the hotel. Fortunately, Dan had accidently been given a Master key. So he kept going in other people's rooms, and looking for something familiar. With all of us watching, and saying nothing. Best part was when one room looked vaguely familiar enough for Dan to go in for a second look. Still undecided, when he tried to go in for a third time, the stranger who had been asleep in bed got up, and very politely asked, "Would you please stop doing that?"
Shutting down the bar with 40+ Sourcers at GP Providence was probably the best party ever. But had nothing to do with Jupiter.
When is SCG live coverage going to officially errata his name to Alex '2 Explores' Bertoncheaty?
When I heard Bertoncini and his cheating, he sounded to me like someone who is fucked in the head, but I was curious as to how and why. Parcher's post have been extremely revealing, it's like reading about the origins of the Joker or something. What does it take to create a sociopathic magic player? A whole lot of nut shots apparently. I wonder fucked up things in Bertoncini's life that got him to that point.

For everything that I love about living in SoCal, and the fact that I only knew y'alls tangentially through intermittent trips to Jupiter; goddamn, I had a blast playing Magic out east, and I miss y'alls.
EDIT: I should stipulate that I didn't hang out with these dudes in particular, but I can vouch for them being great people to spend a day with, and that I have similar stories about my own group from western PA.
Parcher's story explains why Bertoncini turned to the Dark Side.
Alex: "Kick me in the balls will you!? Well we will see who has the last laugh..."
Bertoncini 8-1 @ GP Richmond - somehow I feel that he must be running a Scapeshift deck with multiple copies of Explore.
Humphrey is always correct.
Looks like he ended up going 11-4, which is still enough to be in prizes.
