Thread: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

After more tests in these days (all on cockatrice) with 1x DTT main and 2x DTT side replacing Leylines i can say again that i'm really happy with the card, when it comes most of the time it can change the trend of the game by itself, and about the discard protection i'm not missing Leylines at all.

After testing for some time the 2x main i switched back to 1x Gitaxian Probe and 1x DTT, but i'm still not sure what to play in the gitaxian slot, i like gitaxian when it comes but with just 1x it's definitely the first slot i can change.

I can share where i'm with my sideboard right now and ask some tips cause i have 2-3 cards i'm not sure about:

    3 Defense Grid
    2 Dig Through Time
    1 Intuition
    1 Trickbind
    1 Pact of Negation
    1 Release the Ants
    1 Rushing River
    1 Wipe Away/Echoing Truth
    1 Polymorphist's Jest
    2 Spell Pierce
    1 Quicken/Flusterstorm/free slot

A new card i'm loving too is Polymorphist's Jest, and i was happy to see it played on the last 15° list at SCG. A big bonus is that's good against 2 or even 3 hatebears at once, and it works against Mother of Runes too. Some posts ago i was skeptical about playing it for the relatively high mana cost but my tests showed that it can work.
I'm not playing anymore Eladamri's Call cause i never meet Gaddock Teeg. I have one free slot which i fill with random test cards like Quicken (i saw some lists with 1x main, i need to test it). Suggestions are welcome.

All in all i'm liking this deck more than ever, this new card imho has led some fresh and useful meat for our deck.

Been having trouble deciding on a list.
Emrakul/RTA/EC or R@D/Labman/ FF package, i like them both lol.
Also like the black splash in the board.
I tryed mixing the FF package with Emrakul main, but it feels clutterd.

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

I do MD Emrakul + FF sideboard, but there are some cuts that might be uncomfortable for others.

    Land
    8 Island
    3 Scalding Tarn
    3 Misty Rainforest
    3 City of Traitors
    2 Ancient Tomb
    Other Stuff
    4 Show and Tell
    4 Omniscience
    3 Dream Halls
    3 Enter the Infinite
    1 Gitaxian Probe
    1 Leyline of Sanctity
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Ponder
    4 Preordain
    4 Force of Will
    1 Spell Pierce
    1 Pact of Negation
    1 Daze
    1 Intuition
    4 Cunning Wish

    Sideboard
    3 Leyline of Sanctity
    3 Defense Grid
    1 Firemind's Foresight
    1 Intuition
    1 Wipe Away
    1 Chain of Vapor
    1 Eladamri's Call
    1 Release the Ants
    1 Flusterstorm
    1 Slaughter Pact
    1 Trickbind

...actually now that I write it out, the pile resembles a steaming turd, so I think my suggestion that it's "not that clunky" will be laughed at! Almost everything that this forum has rejected, from page 1 onward, can be found somewhere in this build.

Anyway though, the thing that makes the MD Emrakul + FF package less clunky is playing 4 Cunning Wish and 3 Enter the Infinite instead of the reverse split. If you want to Wish + Call + Emrakul through Teeg and Spirit, running the 4 is nice. If you want to go off with Cunning Wish off of Dream Halls, Firemind's Foresight is really helpful. Finally, if you have extra Cunning Wish cards before the combo, making them into a 6 mana Demonic Tutor helps (although it sounds awful).

Lol yours does look a lil clunky, but hey if it works for you, then it works for you.

    Mine is

    3 Wish
    3 Halls
    2 Probe
    1 Impulse
    1 Emrakul

    4 Fow
    3 Flusterstorm

    4 ETI
    4 Omni
    4 S@T
    12 cantrips

    6 Fetch
    3 Tomb
    1 U Sea
    9 Island

    Board is

    3 Thoughtseize
    1 Swamp
    2 Sweeper (currently Toxic Deluge)
    2 Defense Grid
    1 Flusterstorm
    1 Rushing River
    1 Trick Bind
    1 Intuition
    1 FF
    1 RTA
    1 EA

Played LOS for a while but ultimately cut it.

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

One thing that's worked fairly well for me has been the ugly 3 counterspell split, 1 Daze, 1 Pact of Negation, and 1 Spell Pierce.

People always assume that one runs numbers of whatever counterspell one plays. Even good players mess up and play around stuff that isn't there, or end up assuming I run a lot more counterspells than I actually do once they've seen two of these.

I tested a bunch of games with Khans cards today. Dig Through Time is not a sideboard card, let's get that straight. I'm currently on 2 Dig and 1 Cruise main to test out which is better, but both have been pretty unreal. It's like having a 2-mana double demonic tutor in blue since Omnitell runs so many redundant pieces. From the previous list posted, I'm +2 Preordain, -1 Island, -1 Enter the Infinite. It's better at diddling around, which helps delve and going off and stuff.

Test Dig Through Time. Put that card in your decks. Seriously.

Barsoom - sweet tech with Polymorphist's Jest. I'm trying that out for sure.

Edit: oh, didn't post a list earlier.

    2 Ancient Tomb
    2 City of Traitors
    4 Flooded Strand
    7 Island
    4 Polluted Delta
    4 Brainstorm
    2 Gitaxian Probe
    4 Ponder
    4 Preordain
    1 Pact of Negation
    1 Spell Pierce
    4 Force of Will
    2 Dig Through Time
    1 Treasure Cruise
    3 Cunning Wish
    4 Show and Tell
    3 Dream Halls
    4 Omniscience
    3 Enter the Infinite
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

    // Sideboard:
    1 Pact of Negation
    1 Flusterstorm
    1 Spell Pierce
    1 Surgical Extraction
    3 Defense Grid
    1 Echoing Truth
    1 Eladamri's Call
    1 Release the Ants
    1 Trickbind
    1 Intuition
    1 Polymorphist's Jest
    1 Wipe Away
    1 Dig Through Time
Languages and dates for every set. For all you true pimps.

I am testing with OmniTell too with 1 Dig Through Time and 1 Treasure Cruise main. Dig Through Time is huge, the Cruise sometimes. Maybe I will switch to 2 Dig Through Time and cut the Cruise but that is just me testing with this deck. (no previous experience with it)

So, 1-2x Dig Through Time seems fantastic for this list. Will certainly dedicate some # of slots when playing this archetype. Since I'm relatively new to the deck, does anybody have any insight on the # of maindeck Pacts I should be running? I've seen anywhere between 1-3. The meta I would be playing in is all over the place, but there seems to be a solid concentration of other combo lists.

I am running 4 FoW, 2 Pacts and 1 Flusterstorm main and of course Dig Through Time is really awesome. One should test more than 2. OmniTell can support them very well.

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

I decided to go all in on Dig and see how it goes. I have 3 in the main and 1 in the board as a wish target for those situations when intuition doesn't get it done. I really like the digs. I upped the number of city of traitors and fetches a bit to enable them. I would like some probes but haven't been willing to cut the preordains, but that might be a terrible decision on my part. Dig also improves lotus petal's value which is worth considering but the tension with needing repeatable blue sources has kept me off of it in the dig version so far.

    4 brainstorm
    4 ponder
    4 preordain
    3 dig through time
    4 show and tell
    4 omniscience
    1 dream halls
    3 enter the infinite
    3 emrakul, the aeons torn
    3 cunning wish
    4 force of will
    3 flusterstorm
    3 city of traitors
    2 ancient tomb
    7 blue fetch
    8 island

    Sideboard
    1 dig through time
    1 intuition
    1 swan song
    1 spell pierce
    1 pact of negation
    1 release the ants
    1 trickbind
    1 wipe away
    1 echoing truth
    1 rushing river
    2 defense grid
    3 leyline of sanctity

Digs make the deck consistent enough that it is possible to just cut the cunning wish package entirely. I am playing around with that and will post if I get a version I like.

Anyone play this deck over the weekend?

How do you feel about it in a SCG meta?

Looking forward to any update on the latest builds with Dig Through Time etc! :)

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

SCG meta is mostly Delver.dec -- as a 3 card combo deck, it's hard to maneuver that over 9 rounds. Getting Treasure Cruise is only going to make it more difficult. I expect Delver.meta to only get worse. If you learn to beat Delver, you can own SCG events.

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

Got in some good testing tonight, against a variety of archetypes. Still not used to the idea of being on the draw for some of them, specifically for something like Elves (went with draw, and it seemed to work).

Looking to run with the following list. Looking for suggestions or comments, specifically on my sideboard.

    1x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    4x Show and Tell
    3x Dream Halls
    4x Omniscience
    4x Enter the Infinite

    4x Force of Will
    3x Pact of Negation
    3x Cunning Wish

    4x Brainstorm
    4x Ponder
    4x Preordain
    1x Gitaxian Probe
    1x Dig Through Time

    3x City of Traitors
    7x Snaplands
    10x Islands

    SB:

    3x Leyline of Sanctity
    3x Defense Grid
    1x Flusterstorm
    1x Pact of Negation
    1x Slaughter Pact
    1x Polymorphist's Jest
    1x Trickbind
    1x Noxious Revival
    1x Intuition
    1x Dig Through Time
    1x Release the Ants
    Cowboy Magic

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

My main is exactly like your, save -1 Island +1 Intuition.
The sideboard is different, i dropped Leyline of Sanctity completely and i'm not missing it at all in the various testings i made, overall i'm really happy with my 75 right now.
You can find my sideboard at the start of this page, the free slot is still a free slot, i'm testing various cards there like Quicken/Flusterstorm/Boseiju, Who Shelters All (against Miracle)/Eladamri's Call.

    1x Trickbind
    1x Noxious Revival
    1x Intuition
    1x Dig Through Time
    1x Release the Ants

Ran this list at a local weekly (16+ player event) to an undefeated record. My match-ups were as followed.

    R1 - Dark Maverick
    R2 - Imperial Painter
    R3 - UWR Delver
    R4 - UG Infect

After tonight, I'm full-steam-ahead on the 2x Dig Through Time in the maindeck, cutting the rather lackluster Probe to make room. My (in-game) sideboarding could also use some work, as I wasn't entirely confident in some of the decisions I made. Also would like to make room for Rushing River/Wipe Away in the board, as I have very few ways of dealing with specific permanents. Against Painter, I was put into a position where Ensnaring Bridge prevented Emrakul from attacking, and Thorn of Amethyst forced me to Release the Ants the hard way. I eventually won that game (and the match), by repeatedly casting Enter the Infinite (so not to deck myself), while chipping away over 3 turns. If Rushing River were somewhere in the 75, that game would have been over much quicker.

In hindsight, I should have taken notes on my sideboarding decisions, but I believe they were as followed:

Dark Maverick: -2 Pact of Negation / +1 Polymorphist's Jest, +1 Dig Through Time
Imperial Painter: -1 Gitaxian Probe, -1 Pact of Negation / +1 Flusterstorm, +1 Dig Through Time
UWR Delver: -1 Dream Halls, -1 Gitaxian Probe - 1 Pact of Negation, -1 Emrakul / +3 Defense Grid, +1 Flusterstorm
    Infect: -1 Gitaxian Probe / +1 Flusterstorm

Still relatively new to the deck, so any feedback would be appreciated.

I'd usually side in Leyline if I had it side vs Painter as they have to remove it to combo or side in Defense Grid to stop their Red Blasts. I'm thinking of dropping the Leylines completely though as it opens up some slots on the wish board. Feel like I often want to side in both Leyline and Defense Grid in the same match ups like Painter, BUG, Shardless.

    Thinking of this:
    2x Defense Grid
    1x Flusterstorm
    1x Pact of Negation
    1x Firemind's Foresite
    1x Eladamri's Call
    1x Rushing River
    1x Polymorphist's Jest
    1x Slaughter Pact
    1x Misdirection
    1x Dig through Time
    1x Trickbind
    1x Release the Ants
    1x Noxious Revival
    1x BWSA

I am not sold on getting rid of leylines. I feel we get absolutely crushed by thoughtsieze/duress/cabal therapy/Hymn more than any other cards. I know its meta dependent but so many decks are packing discard. Not to mention Leyline help vs Burn, Storm, Food Chain, Belcher, Painter. I seem to board that in more than any other card.

  20. #980

    Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell

With Dig Through Time the problems against discard decks are long gone. I suggest everyone to drop Leylines. In its place i'm playing right now 2x Spell Pierce and 2x Dig Through Time, and i'm really liking this setting compared to the "40% chance" Leyline.

And now with the new Treasure Cruise metagame discard decks are getting worst, so it's likely you'll meet less and less of these decks.
