I think you can also use Abrupt Decay to destroy Animate Dead in response to Dragons comes-into-play-trigger.
Edit: Too slow.
I'm not sure, WGD remains to be a logistical nightmare, except that nobody will play it, as it's always better to simply win with gRisly. But the mere possibility seems strange.
IDK, weird change. I'd expect Earthcraft and (to a lesser extent) either Black Vise or Mind Twist. However the latter doesn't seem possible anymore, now when TC left the format.
Really, I'd love to see Earthcraft of the list. Survival is maybe far too dangerous, but Earthcraft is a card that would allow some seriously distinct archetype or at least make Tress tier1.
edit: Now when I sent the post I realized that you like the WotC's "move to at least pretend to show an interest in taking off the random nonsense on the list". 100% agreed.
Vintage has much faster mana than Legacy. It's very possible to be in position to Abrupt Decay your opponent's play on the draw on his turn 2. Misdirection doesn't work in Legacy because there will never be another eligible target for you to misdirect the decay too but you're still going to have the EoT Entomb WGD and then T2 Animate it issue.
Yep, and I think it's a terrible model with an ever increasing card pool. The purpose of the banned list is to ensure a healthy meta, not a consistent length of the list itself.
I don't think Gorger is going to be much trouble. Many lists could afford to run Grafdigger's Cage in their board and it hoses Elves, too. There's also RiP, DRS, AD and lots of other quality hate out there.
Wow, I could work for these assholes. And I am HAPPY with the change. I loved casting multiple ancestrals in a 1.5 game of Magic, but anyone with experience in the format could see that it was unfair and over powered. Yes, brainstorm is more popular, but this is not a popularity contest! This is about POWER level, not PLAYABILITY. Brainstorm fixes your draws, but TC breaks the game open.
As for the Worldgorger change, it seems pretty retarded but ultimately irrelevant. An animated Grizzlebrand is far scarier than infinite mana since it's a wincon itself, but hey more annoying draws so that's what we needed right?

Holy fuck. Worldgorger!
That was pretty much my initial thought too. It's so dumb to be on the list that I often forgot it was even on there.
Commence to gorging worlds boys!
Predictions on actual impact? I am almost certain the Dragon will see almost no real play though, the combo is too fragile now.

Dragon is sweet hot garbage, but how else will i put my Oonas to use?
Dragon is awful. A graveyard combo that also gets boned by stifle, abrupt decay, and possibly true believer effects. So Wizards rewound the clock to
R/Bug, Miracles, Elves, and Griselderp / Show and Derp combo. What a shake up.
Oh well, the next announcement is a little shorter turn around time (~7 weeks?). Enjoy your 80% brainstorm format, may all your brainstorms be perfect ones!
I've become so cynical about the management of this format, I expected "No Changes." TC being gone is something, should make things a little more interesting again. I was hoping for Delver to get the axe, but at least one overpowered blue card is out. Dragon was definitely NOT the first unban I expected, and now I'm annoyed I never finished my Japanese playset of the card...that shit's hard to find even though it was cheap. I doubt it will make much impact though, the combo is as fragile as something like Cephalid Breakfast or Protean Hulk.dec, and we haven't seen either of those for a very long time. At least it gives us combo players something fun to play around with that's unlikely to break the format or otherwise cause problems.
