    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

Yesterday I played cloudpost again since a few months. Just because of ugin. Lost similar to rock lees with mikokoro. Wich was never really really good.
    0-2 infect
    T2 3 invigorate
    T3 2 invigorate post wasteland

2-0 merfolks tabernacle is quite nice.

    2-0 bug nickfit

2-1 mud. Pithing on wasteland and win the cloupost into bombs race.

0-2 ur with 4 price of progress md.

Infect it too good vs us.
    Moments peace was good.
    Pithing was good.
    Wurmcoil never played it
No counters of blue blast vs price was not really nice.
    I missed repeal.
Stiring where good but not great. I got to hit landrops and so. But never was like wow this card is op. Would play repeal.
4 maps are may be a littl too much.

As always a really cool deck to play.

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

Played a list with 4 Ancient Stirrings, 2 Ugin, 3 Revoker and on a whim, 4 Repeal over the Brainstorms in a 6 round event on Saturday. Wasn't particularly impressed, but the metagame felt rather hostile.

Round 1 vs Ritual Reanimator 0-2: Lose the die roll, concede to the discard trigger of the turn 1 Sire of Insanity. Great start. Game 2 lasts a whopping three turns until he gets a Jin-Gitaxias in play with double counter back up.

Round 2 vs Dredge 2-1: Game 1 he mulligans to 5, I open on Expedition Map, he casts Faithless Looting, I Bojuka Bog on my turn, he Lootings into Careful Study into another dredger, I search up a Vesuva to Bog him again, he has another Careful Study into Looting into dredger, so I copy Bojuka Bog again to leave him at no Graveyard and no Hand. Game 2 I fail to stabilize under Chasm, Game 3 he mulligans to 3 and fails to do anything, but my hand was good anyway.

Round 3 vs Merfolk 0-2: Fail to draw lands in game 1, Chasm does its usual impression of being not good enough to actually improve the situation after you have to let go of it in game 2. Ugin would have been good if there was ever a realistic chance of casting it.

Round 4 vs Punishing Jund 1-2: 3 very interesting and interactive games. Ugin would again have been great all the time, but I just never got to the mana to cast them. Got blown out by Krosan Grip on my Top in Game 2 when I stacked the cards wrong and was 1 mana short from Emrakul looping in game 3 after suffering a Liliana ultimate earlier that game.

Round 5 vs MUD 2-0: He got mana screwed, I naturally found Emrakul both games. Terribly matchup, I got super lucky.

Round 6 vs UR Painter 1-2: Game 1 his deck has no real way of doing anything at all as long as I don't draw or search for Emrakul. Having only one Eldrazi in the deck meant that he got to combo out with Surgical in games 2 and 3 before I could get anything useful going.

Ugin was way too clunky, the Revokers failed to be impressive or attack decks in an angle that didn't just turn on their dead cards (like Punishing Fire), Ancient Stirrings seemed better than Ponder on Average, but wasn't really very impressive. It's a fine card in a build that is heavy on colorless threats/bullets but nothing more. Repeals were a lot better than Brainstorms would have been in any situation where I drew them, so I'm glad I made that swap, although I probably would have preferred Brainstorm to the Revokers that day. Boarded up to 4 SnTs in all but the Reanimator match, which I feel is a very strong indicator that the core idea of the deck just isn't good in the metagame I faced. While there was a wide variety of decks around the room, the traditional fair decks that we prey upon by default were fairly rare.

Only redeeming aspect of the tournament is that Postman managed to somehow have an even worse experience than I did. (IIRC: 1-1-1 vs Reanimator, 1-0-1 (!) vs Reanimator with an insane game 2, 0-2 vs MUD, 2-1 vs Oops, All Spells!, 1-2 vs UWR beats (maybe Delver?), 1-2 vs Jund) Got some pretty radical ideas I want to test out in the coming days, but I have a feeling that if the metagame in this area stays the way it looked this weekend, the time might have come to shelf the list for a while until things change again. When you have to hope to get paired against the Dredge player in the room, things are a bit awkward.

Nice report and conclusions! Played Rock Lee's list (at least the Maindeck) he posted a few pages ago, the last one before he introduced Notion Thief. Game reports given from LLCoolDave are almost perfect^^

    Round 1: Reanimator 1-1-1

    Round 2: Reanimator 1-0-1

    Round 3: Cloudpost MUD 1-2

    Round 4: All Spells 2-1

Round 5: Punishing Jund 1-2 or even 0-2, not sure

    Round 6: UWr Delver 0-2

Round 2 was silly. Reanimator again, yeah.....second game he reanimated an Eldrazi from his GY (a creature with small Anhilator and something like "...can't be blocked by less than 3 creatures"). At that point of the game life totals were 3:42 in my favour. Eye of Ugin was needled, both players without cards in hands. Revoker and Titan in play, I swing with both, getting the last lands out of my deck (over 60 mana on the board), taking him to 1. Some more turns, no important changes to the board, extra turns, game over. Really missed REPEAL!

Round 4: big thanks to Flusterstorm^^

Round 5: Jund. Great...lot's of Wastelands, Hymn, Lillys, Abrupt Decay. No real chance.

Round 6: At least one good MU, I thought. Game 1 I got my turn 2 Misty Rainforest stifled, turn 3 spell forced, turn 4 spell forced. Game 2 he uses Wasteland to crush my Cloudpost, Delver turn 2, flips turn 3 thanks to Daze. Get's company in form of Meddling Mage naming Ugin (?!), turn 4 comes Nemesis, turn 5 attacks plus Lightning Bolt.

Needles are ok, Revoker will be replaced for Repeals. Maybe only one Ugin main, and I'll try Coercive Portal! MUD played it, and is was really insane. Even tinkering about a single Azusa, nice ramp and a blocker for cmc 3 isn't that bad.

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

I played at Duel for Duals yesterday in Philly. I may have I won a dual land, but punted in the final round. Part fatigue and part weird interaction magic via Ugin.

    Round 1: ANT 1-2
G3: On my turn 2, I tap a land for a relic of progenitus, leaving a tropical island untapped. He starts his turn with a cabal therapy. I look at my hand, I have crop rotation & venarian glimmer plus an active relic looking at a near empty graveyard. I tank, and go for a glimmer for x=0. I hit a lotus petal, he has ritual x3 and an infernal tutor. If he only had 2 rituals, I would have got him. (temporarily!)

    Round 2: Soldier Prison 1-2
G2: I get chaliced X=1, thalia and soldiered to death.
G3: My opponent goes turn 1, ancient tomb -> winter orb. That didn't end well for me.

    Round 3: Shardless Bug 2-0
Round 4: BUG nic fit 2-0
    Round 5: Don't remember 2-0
    Round 6: Tezzerator 2-0
Round 7: Death and Taxes 2-1
G3: He resolves a cataclysm the turn before emrakul. Eventually I fetch out every land in the deck and start beating with primetimes & ugins.

    Round 8: BUG Depths 0-2
I wasn't running Venser this weekend, but here's a case where I should try to squeeze him!
G1: This was the most awesome game of the day. I deal with Marit Liege #1 by digging for a Repeal. Marit Liege #2 gets Karakas, then karakas gets wastelanded. I hide behind Glacial Chasm against Marit Liege #3 down to 6 life and repeal that one too. Vampire hexmage goes on beatdown. I eventually have to crop rotation to buy turns. I'm @ 2life, hexmage and depths #4 in play. My brain blanks, and I'm completely unaware that if I resolve ugin, I can minus for 2 to kill the hexmage. If he tries to respond with marit liege that the token will get ugin'ed away.
G2: I fail to find crop rotation, repeal or karakas and loose quickly.

My opponent finished 16th for a plateau/taiga. Even though I didn't win anything, I think I had a good run and learned in the end.

My all-star was the 1x Fact of Fiction. There was definitely a game where I topped into emrakul, drew with top & then cast fact or fiction. I untapped and emrakuled out of no-where. :-)

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

Will Ugin drop in price rather not pay $30 if Ugin is going to tank in price like Garruk, Sorin and Sarkhan have all tanked in price since release.
    @Wingelrw28
Not sure I like not having Brainstorm to smooth your draws. Just doesn't seem worth it to not play Brainstorm to run Chains in the board.

    @Togores
Repeal and Pithing Needle on Inkmoth Nexus really helped with Infect. Crop Rotation for Glacial Chasm also buys you plenty of time because they deal poison counters so you have life to pay for Chasm. Force of Willing their threats also isn't terrible since they only have 12 creatures and you can nerf 4 of them with a single Pithing Needle. Moment's Peace also is pretty good here.

I find burn UR with price of Progress are the bane of Cloudpost. Really need to run Blue Blasts and Force of Will for Price of Progress.

    @Rock Lee
How have you been finding no Repeals? Does no Repeals really hurt agressive match ups like Delver and having no outs to a resolved Ensnaring Bridge other then Ugin seems rough?

    @MaCHOOga
Thanks for the mini report. You almost got there better luck next time. Didn't go to Duel for Duels because of the threat of snow. Maybe catch the next one. Whats your list look like?

That isn't really the reason I don't run Brainstorm, it is more the no blue spells due to being a black/green deck thing really. Also, Ugin sees play in Standard, Modern, and Legacy. I have a feeling his price is pretty stable where it is.

his price will be stable. since he's mythic it'll actually rise significantly once it rotates. basically he reads

    8 colorless mana

    Win the game

has anyone lost with him in play? (assuming no pithing needles or revokers have named him)
    Play 4 Card Blind!

    Currently Playing
    Legacy: Dark Depths
    EDH: 5-Color Hermit Druid

Currently Brewing: [Deck] Sadistic Sacrament / Chalice NO Eldrazi

    why cards are so expensive...hoarders

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

Postman had his Ugin Karned in the MUD matchup on saturday, but frankly, the mono colorless deck seems among the worst spots to resolve Ugin against.

I have lost in a test game to burn spells after I stuck an Ugin as well, but I would have been super dead if he didn't wipe the board so he certainly wasn't worse than any of the similar cards in our lists previously in that spot.

Ugin is good enough that the price is pretty stable. I doubt they will drop below $20 anytime soon. It's a small set and it's by far one of the two chase mythics. The other being Monastery Mentor. Smaller sets are always opened less, so that's one more thing that will keep it's price stable.

Since you're fairly local, there's also a chance I may end up with Extras in the near future. I have 5 right now, (2x standard, 2x legacy, 1x modern); so at this point I have what I need. I will gladly sell/trade you extras if I acquire any.

I'll post a list in the upcoming days, when I tune it for this weekend.

I find myself going mid rangy against bug and it's ilk post board. Wurmcoil and ugin are all you need to win; I actually side out eldrazi and eye and the like. The late game eldrazi finish is just redundant

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

I 4-0 the MTGO daily with this list inspired by Rock's the very first time i put it together and ran it. I just cant play this deck without repeal. Also i think you could drop an Ancient stirrings or a map to add a 4th Repeal.

1st round was BuG Delver with stifle, 2nd Miracles (lol), 3rd Patriot control, then some Esper Monestary mentor deck in the 4th round.

    4 Glimmerpost
    4 Cloudpost
    1 Eye of Ugin
    1 Karakas
    4 Tropical Island
    2 Vesuva
    1 Cavern of Souls
    4 Misty Rainforest
    1 Island
    1 Glacial Chasm
    1 Forest
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

    4 Primeval Titan
    2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    1 Wurmcoil Engine
    1 Trinket Mage

    2 Sensei's Divining Top
    4 Expedition Map

I was the Painter player. Had a god hand in our game 3, the three card combo with double FoW backup, which is by no means common. I also play Turbo Eldrazi and just miss a Candelabra to complete it. My list is:

    2 Vesuva
    4 Glimmerpost
    1 Eye of Ugin
    1 Karakas
    1 Island
    3 Tropical Island
    1 Glacial Chasm
    4 Cloudpost
    1 Tundra
    1 Flooded Strand
    1 Scalding Tarn
    1 Misty Rainforest
    2 Polluted Delta
    1 Bojuka Bog
    1 Cavern of Souls

    4 Primeval Titan
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
    1 Trinket Mage

    3 Crop Rotation
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Repeal
    4 Force of Will
    3 Spell Pierce

    3 Show and Tell

    3 Expedition Map
    3 Sensei's Divining Top
    1 Candelabra of Tawnos

I think the maindeck should be tuned with combo decks in mind, rather than just relying on the sideboard. Therefore I run the 3 Spell Pierce besides FoW. It loses value in the mid to late game, but we have to get there in the first place. I played in this Flusterstorm in the past, but Pierce also hits cards like Chalice, Sneak Attack or a Plainswalker. I also like the white splash with Meddling Mage from the board, rather than bringing in Phyrexian Revoker. He has much more stopping power against combo because of his flexibilty over PR. Concering Ugin, I think he is very powerful, but is difficult to justify him in the maindeck. The last couple of lists posted reflect this, as they are driven by cards to make Ugin good (like Ancient Stirrings for example). His biggest weakness is that he is not tutorable like the Eldrazi. He requires additional dig and clutters up the deck with more conditional cards (as he is not good in every matchup and sometimes sits there with other high cmc spells). He is also strongest against fair decks, which are beatable anyway, atleast easier than combo decks. It is still fine to run 1 or 2 in the board, but I also dont think that he replaces All is Dust. I had a couple of games against grindy midrange decks, where I had enough mana to tutor and cast All is Dust, but not enough for Emrakul against a lethal board. Kozilek would also do nothing in these situations, because he can block only one attacker. I also consider that Chasm is already in play and our life depleted, so just passing with Kozilek is not an option in these scenarios. Would Ugin just be tutorable by his own eye, he would be insanely busted.

Unfortunately, you cannot tutor for "All is dust" with Eye of Ugin.
If it was the case we would play All is dust in the deck !

my bad, i confused Eldrazi Tribal with as instance of Creature. In this case you can make an argument for Ugin over All is Dust in the board, but I still think his maindeck presence entirly depends on the meta (I refered to a combo heavy meta like ours in the last post).

Well in Standard it goes 8 colorless mana for an Ugin -X and blow up a thing or two, Ugin buys it to Heroes downfall. Legacy if you resolve Ugin it probably is GG baring needle or Revoker or burn or combo but issue is resolving it. 8 mana is alot even with cloudposts and there is spell pierce and force of will.

    @MaChooga
Thanks. I actually ordered Ugins at $25 so will be testing a cloudpost build when I get them.

    @Klobster
Like the list other then only 2 Top and only 2 Crop Rotation. Would like to play at least 3 of both. Top helps consistency and Crop Rotation good as anti wasteland and to find chasm versus Price of Progress.

Is 2 Show and Tell the standard now?
I was running 3 cause there is a decent amount of burn in my local meta and drawing show and tell with a counter for their price of progress seems to be the only way you beat burn.

    Also how is Ancient Stirings?

Show and Tell #3 is now generally Cavern of Souls. However, there is no set number for Show and Tell, so if you need more than two, then go for it.

Ancient Stirrings is a gift from God, as every Modern G(r) Tron and Amulet Bloom Kangaroo player can testify.

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Eldrazi

    My "new" list:

    2 Trinket Mage
    4 Primeval Titan
    1 Emrakul
    1 Kozilek
    1 Ulamog

    1 Forest
    1 Island
    1 Bojuka Bog
    4 Cloudpost
    4 Glimmerpost
    2 Vesuva
    1 Eye of Ugin
    1 Karakas
    4 Misty Rainforest
    4 Tropical Island
    1 Cavern of Souls

    3 Show and Tell
    4 Repeal
    3 Crop Rotation
    4 Brainstorm
    2 Pithing Needle
    2 Candelabra of Tawnos
    3 Sensei's Divining Top
    4 Expedition Map
    2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon

    SB:

    2 Krosan Grip
    1 Glacial Chasm
    4 Flusterstorm
    1 Grafdiggers Cage
    1 Zuran Orb
    1 Chalice of the Void
    2 Engineered Explosives
    1 Tabernacle
    2 Moment's Peace

Did some testing against UR Delver and Jund and the deck feels quite good :-) 4 Repeals have to be in this deck, sorry. Chasm SB is the better plan for my meta I guess, because it's often a dead card for me. Will try to fit in Venser or Titania for one of the Eldrazis, not really sure what to drop and what to put in...any ideas?;-)
