Wayne was awesome. I'd say his must have vintage / legacy cards are Worldgorger Dragon and Stony Silence. He's responsible for some of my favorite terrible cards to play in Legacy like Enlistment Officer, KotHN, Tidal Courier and Words of Wilding. I'm also almost never a fan of anything other than original printing, but his Ghostly Prison is an exception. I was fortunate to get all my stuff signed before he died. Words of Wilding is some sick art and flavor.

Yes, to any dealer they would be considered damaged. The only way to move them for anything above a DMG/HP price would be eBay or player-to-player which would still be difficult. That said, if you plan on never selling them, go for it.
I'd say it's safe if done well, dealers won't like it, but if you sell to dealers you're losing money anyway... you're limiting your options for sale for sure, chinese is the worst language for Recruiters and a cheap versions exists, that's something to consider... Personally I can't stand WB so if I was deep in Painter I'd do that, I would not be afraid that I couldn't sell it eventually, players usually liked my BBed cards and I had no problem selling my Grim Tutor (a card of similar obscurity) counting in the BB costs...
You could have them altered. A little easier to move afterwards I think.
