I really hope the art on Inkwell Leviathan is awesome. If anyone opens a foil one, send it my way. I've got a soft spot for Leviathans.

I was surprised how long it took until people started saying that this is such a bad set with no playable cards at all. In the last few threads, those comments were starting by page seven or eight. So I'm pretty disappointed by this thread, all the past threads were infinitely better for discussing Legacy.

Yeah, here's the list of the "might playable in certain circumstances" cards for legacy, as there are literally no new staples (eg. confidant):
Celestial Purge - Can be worth it in the future if some of those colors actually gain some more playables non-creature permanents, otherwise STP is less narrow.
Mark Of Asylum - Can become a SB card for survival elves in some metas
Martial Coup - Can find a place in MWC
Path to Exile - It's not like a typical deck wants to play 8 STP, but the fact that it doesn't gain life can be worth it in, say, some Boros or Zoo deck, maybe in SB.
Sigil of the Empty Throne - Can be good in enchantress, more testing is needed.
Esperzoa - Actually one of the most impressive cards in the set. Can find a place in some stompy deck.
Inkwell Leviathan - Might be playable instead of SSS
Noble Hierarch - It's better than bird. It can actually find a place in some decks with no heavy B splash, or without it completely. Something like monogreen Secret-progenitus or the like.
Progenitus and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker: there must be a tier 2 deck to fit these in.
That's it. No more even remotely playable under certain circumstances cards.

Celestial Purge - Ok
Mark Of Asylum - Definitely bad.
Martial Coup - Too easy to disrupt. For the same price, I definitely prefer to draw 1, instant speed and draw 1. Or 2 4/4 angels ?
Path to Exile - Ok
Sigil of the Empty Throne - First I thought it was everything but good. Now, I think that it has a lot of advantages compared to Hoofprint (which was already considered as bad) and Pegasus token maker (which is in all enchantress builds)
Esperzoa - I'm still not sold on this card.
Inkwell Leviathan - Ok, it's weaknesses compared to SSS: more difficult to play (CC=9 vs CC=7) and can't block flying creatures. Not that the situations where it matters happen that much often. One of its main strength: dodge Stinkweed Imp quite easily and beats for 1 more.
Noble Hierarch - Ok, probably the best card for legacy.
Progenitus and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker: Progenitus Ok, Nicol Bolas, I doubt it.
I would add :
Hellspark Elemental: second best card of the set. Autoinclude as 4-of in burn and probably tarmo sligh.
Bloodhall Ooze: might find a place in a deck. Can be, as figure of destiny a creature difficult to counterspell and that requires an anticreature.
Nyxathid: might be a better kill than nantuko shade in a lot of decks.
Telemin Performance : an instant kill against a lot of decks. Might see it in some SBs. Why not 1-of in ANT's SB to win the mirror?
Parasitic Strix: clearly the best kill for Aluren. But it does not really matter, since the deck is completely outplayed by most of the Tier 1 decks actuelly.
Master Transmuter: an expensive flavourlike welder. I doubt it's going to find its place anywhere, but anyway it's worth watching.
Shambling Remains: a good creature. Once more there is no deck for it right now. But some crazy guy might try again Br Suicide and play it.
Flore's today's article, where he states that Noble Hierarch is the best 1-drop ever, is no less than hilarius
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity - Seneca, Roman dramatist
Not too bad of artwork for Hierach, but it's just... jarring to me for some reason. Maybe it's the green border and the brown skin that's visually jarring, I don't know. Still picking up a playset of these asap.

Well his analysis was based on "big tournaments won" and "money won" so it's quite reasonable that from that perspective Birds is the best 1-drop because it's been around since Alpha and was played in lots of decks (not like Disciple, Lakey, Welder, Isamaru, Kird Ape etc.).
Concerning the previews...let's just say I like the whole Alara Block less and less...
I agree with most of the comments, and even if a few of those listed will not be played, that's still 12-13 cards out of a 100 so far, which is not bad for Legacy. But I guess some people only notice a playable card when it is so good that it can be put into every deck running that color, and not when it does something that could be put to use in some very specific decks, or built around to get the most out of it.

That's how a real hoser should look like:
Scattershot Archer
Creature - Elf Archer (Common)
Tap: Scattershot Archer deals 1 damage to each creature with flying.
1/2
Still waiting for better ways to deal with Goyf
I refuse to go back and read his articles to double check this, but doesn't Flores say this about every single fucking card he previews? Perhaps his writing style has finally pushed me over the edge.
Also, while Scattershot Archer is nice, it doesn't have the impact against Elves and Tokens that Volcanic Fallout does. That there is a real format hoser.
New card:
Mirror-Sigil Sergeant - 5w
Creature-- Rhino Soldier (Mythic)
Trample
If you control a blue permanent, during your upkeep, put a token into play that's a copy of Mirror-Sigil Sergeant
4/4
Looks pretty good, albeit a bit slow. Anyone know if the tokens themselves have an extra trigger?
