Once upon a time Mogg Fanatic was able to push hard, at least harder than he is currently. I too have been looking for another 1 drop permanent to push us up to 11 or so. I keep theorizing and coming back to Goblin Guide - but it clashes so hard with the Mana denial its dumb. I guess I'm basically hoping for a good print in an eventual upcoming set.
- Things I've been looking at -
Frenzied Goblin - Very curious if this is good enough. Sure only one R per attack but it says that guy cannot block. not can't be blocked by ~.
Mogg Fanatic - A fine card. Meta doesn't have enough 1 toughness guys.
Goblin Grappler - Doesn't do anything alone
Goblin Soothsayer - Probably too slow / Chieftain better
AND of course being your average 1 drop red creature they all die to Engineered-Plague sans Lord.
This is my Rb Goblins list I brewed up as another deck I could use on MTGO:
Lands:
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Arid Mesa
3 Badlands
9 Mountain
Others:
4 Aether Vial
3 Warren Weirding
Goblins:
4 Goblin Lackey
4 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Warchief
4 Goblin Ringleader
3 Goblin Piledriver
3 Mogg War Marshal
3 Gempalm Incinerator
Toolbox:
1 Siege-Gang Commander
1 Krenko, Mob Boss
1 Goblin Chieftain

1 Tuktuk Scrapper

And I'm off to SCG Minneapolis. Trying to put Goblins in the Top-8.
MountainCaverns, Lackey, Go.
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchanges our apples, we each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange our ideas, we each have two ideas.
I went a disappointing 4-2 at my Legacy Event. Here is my report!
There were 41 people at this "1k". Prize was in store credit, prizes available for purchase were priced according to starcitygames (ugh!).
Here is the list I ended up on:
Maindeck:
Artifacts
4 Aether Vial
Creatures
4 Gempalm Incinerator
4 Goblin Lackey
4 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Piledriver
4 Goblin Ringleader
1 Goblin Sharpshooter
4 Goblin Warchief
3 Mogg War Marshal
2 Siege-Gang Commander
1 Skirk Prospector
1 Stingscourger
1 Tin Street Hooligan
Basic Lands
3 Mountain
Lands
1 Bloodstained Mire
4 Cavern of Souls
1 Plateau
4 Rishadan Port
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Taiga
4 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills
Sideboard:
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Krosan Grip
3 Pyrokinesis
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
Round 1 vs WBR Young Pyromancer 2-0
I played against a friend of mind and his new brew. It was kind of cool, but I think Blue is better than White in this type of deck. 90% of his dudes were 1 toughness, so sharpshooter ran him over.
Here was my SB plan:
In:
3x Pyrokinesis
4x Chalice of the Void
Out:
1 Tin Street Hooligan
1 Stingscourger
1 Mogg War Marshal
1 Goblin Ringleader
4 Goblin Lackey (Because I was on the draw)
1-0
Round 2 vs UG Hex Depths/Cloudpost 2-0
I knew my opponent from past events. He's more of a casual player. His sleeves were absolutely disgusting and broken, so I had the judge have him change his sleeves. The games were extremely uneventful; I had a turn 1 lackey both games with a decent hand. The 1 time he had Glacial Chasm, I had Wasteland.
Here was my SB plan:
In:
4x Chalice of the Void
Out:
1x Goblin Sharpshooter
3x Gempalm Incinerator
2-0
Round 3 vs Esper Control 2-1
Game 1 my opponent had me on the backfoot after I missed an Aether Vial trigger (stupid!) and dealt with my lackey. Game 2 I was able to steam roll him with Warchief + Piledriver, and game 3 was a big affair. We were nearing the end of the round, and we were both at very low life. He connects with a Creeping Tar Pit equipped with a Jitte, and uses the Jitte counters to kill my Piledriver. Then he untaps his lands!!! He thought he had Sword of Feast and Famine AND Jitte on the Tar Pit! So the judge fixes it, and my opponent passes back. I have to kill him this turn, so I need to rip any non-Siege Gang 2-power creature. For the ultimate rub ins, I get Piledriver (I had a ringleader and Warchief in play, along with a Matron and Lackey and he didn't have enough blockers).
My sideboard plan:
In:
4x Thalia
2x Krosan Grip
3x Pyrokinesis
Out:
1x Goblin Sharpshooter
1x Skirk Prospector
2x Goblin Ringleader
2x Gempalm Incinerator
3x Mogg War Marshal
3-0
Round 4 vs Dredge 1-2
I was paired down this round, which was odd. I had only dropped 1 game all day! I guess all of my opponents just went on a losing streak. (Little did I know, that would be a recurring theme...)
Game 1 he had a slow start and I was able to race at first, but I bricked twice in a row as his zombie army grew. Game 2 was just more of the same. Unless heavily boarding for this matchup AND getting lucky, I really don't like our odds.
Sideboard plan:
In:
4x Thalia
4x Chalice of the Void
2x Relic of Progenitus
Out:
1x Tin Street Hooligan
1x Goblin Ringleader
4x Aether Vial
4x Goblin Lackey
3-1
Round 4 vs Elves 2-0
I love this matchup. Between Sharpshooter main deck, and Pyrokinesis + Chalice SB, I feel as if they need to go off turn 2-3 in order to win. I crushed my opponent 2-0, he never had a chance either game.
Sideboard Plan:
In:
3x Pyrokinesis
4x Chalice of the Void
Out:
1x Tin Street Hooligan
1x Stingscourger
3x Mogg War Marshal
1x Goblin Ringleader
1x Gempalm Incinerator
4-1
At this point, I'm feeling pretty good about myself. Hey! I should be able to draw in. When Standings are posted, I'm sitting at the bottom of the 12 point'ers because none of my opponents could win more than 1 or 2 matches after I beat them. On top of that, there was a draw last round putting 2 people at X-1-1 and I'd be paired against one of them. I needed to win, or for the other to lose and for me to get lucky. I was gonna be paired against either TES or UWR Delver. I was paired with TES.
Round 6 vs TES 1-2
I knew what he was on from watching his match the previous round. Game 1 we both mulligan once, and I keep a 5 land, 1 lackey hand. I'm not sure if I should've mulliganed again. game 1 ends with him winning when my only goblins I drew being stingscourger and skirk prospector.
I won Game 2 with a chalice on 0 and racing him with Lackey, Thalia, Warchief, and Piledriver.
Game 3 was a great game. He starts with a Lotus Petal and LED, then passes the turn. I open with Chalice @ 0, and a Lackey. He proceeds to cast Ad Nauseam to put himself to 10 and passes. I untap and lay a Chalice @ 1. I brick a few draws as I drop him closer and closer to dead, when he finally gets his Abrupt Decay. He brainstorms twice, and I lose the game with him dead on board the next time.
Sideboard plan:
In:
4x Chalice of the Void
4x Thalia
2x Relic of Progenitus
Out:
1x Stingscourger
1x Goblin Sharpshooter
4x Gempalm Incinerator
1x Skirk Prospector
3x Goblin Ringleader
I end the event at 13th place with a disappointing 4-2. I am sure that if my previous opponents had won more of their matches, I would've been able to ID into top 8. Some changes I would make to the list:
-1 MWM
+1 Goblin Chieftain to the main deck. The lack of any pump lord mattered in a few games, and I feel like this is where I would make the cut.
In the sb, I would just toss the Relics altogether, and put back in Iona and Angel of Despair. There were a fair number of Show and Tell based decks, and I'm just lucky I didn't play against any of them.
Well, you're not going to see my smiling mug on the SCG coverage. I lost to burn r1 and miracles r5, so now I gotta make top 32 to still take home some cash.
Anyone else see the semifinals of scg where krenko WON THE MATCH? I know, his opponent had a bad hand, yadda yadda yadda. But the only card that saves the jund player there is bolt.
Congrats Kenny Dungar! Woot Goblins!
I couldn't help but notice Ken's Deck is a 61 card list. Must not have been able to find that last card to cut. Nor did it have a shatter goblin in main or side. Looks like he was relying on Pithing Needle and Wear to handle Stoneforge.

Honestly the merfolk player was quite bad. Apart from the fact that i wouldn't side in sower of temptation against goblins, i saw him in the swiss against ant dropping a relic of progenitus and tapping it for one card instead of keeping it open to exile the ant player's graveyard. he won only because ant incredibly failed to combo off two times. Also he was playing mishra's factory, i don't know why.
Aniway congratulations to our beloved goblins and to kenny Dungar !
Woot! Go Thalia Goblins. Vial Cannonist seems a neat trick stolen from D&T; I except it was a bit of a surprise to some storm players.
Deck list shows a single Factory was Merfolk's 5th Man-land.
Not sure if he did not have a 4th Wasteland or just wanted extra bodies but it does not seem a bad choice since he already had 4 Mutavault cards.
My Legacy Decks of choice: Pox, Miracles, D&T or Lands.

Relic of Progenitus can be cracked foreven when it's tapped.
Maybe we should also thank his parents too...
Copied. Not stolen.
@ The dude who made it to 1st place:
Congratulations. I'd like to invite you to share your opinions on your cardchoices with us.
Just last week I was pondering about Ethersworn Canonist in SB. Your result makes me want to try that even more.
MountainCaverns, Lackey, Go.
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchanges our apples, we each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange our ideas, we each have two ideas.
He definitely had the right kind of tech for the current meta. His decision to include Canonist shows that he understands how the deck is trying to win better than a lot of less experienced Goblin players do. It's also a very cunning addition for dealing with the "Cascade" decks like Jund and BUG. All in all, an impressive showing by Mr. Dungar. Personally, I'd be wary about going into battle without my Skirk Prospector, but I suppose you have to make a cut somewhere.
More and more I like the Krenko-Chieftain plan, at least on paper (I haven't tested it yet). I have been testing the extra removal in the mainboard, and I find that it can give you an important boost, especially when people aren't expecting to have to play around it (Pyrokinesis has been excellent, but I still need to test Tarfire).
Congrats at the scg Champion! Hope he comes by to talk about the decklist and maybe write a report.
The list is interesting, and obviously very well tohught. Would like to ask if Tuktuk/TSH was missed, aswell as SGC...
The playstyle was good too. I'd have made a few different decisions (searched for Gempalm insted of Piledriver against folk, not that it mattered; would not have Wasted Mutavault so quickly, and would have cast a hasty Krenko after Vialing in Warchief against Jund, to make sure it would not be Seized away, and even get another activation). Did like leaving wear/tear open instead of playing Matron against AnT.
All in all, congratulations dude. You should play more often.
Super Bizarros Team. Beating everything with small green dudes and big waves.
