Ugh, I disagree... Dungeon Ghost Waterfall isn't better than the original artwork. The original doesn't demonstrate 'souls' as well, but at least it is unmistakably a cavern.
Would have preferred rare over mythic, but am still hopeful the price on original foils will trend down so I can finish my playset!
Seems like goyf is in the set. The value of this set is insane
And here I felt like the souls part was more important than the cavern. Opinions and taste? Gross man,
The new art reminds me of Moria from LotR, upon which a great part of another (my favorite) fantasy series is based. I like it, maybe not so as a "cavern of souls" but as a piece of art. Richard Wright often evokes that Moria ascetic, for which I am a definite sucker.

As a Modern player who owns all these cards I can't be happier. I started Legacy when the most expensive non-duals were like $5-10 and duals were $10(non-blue)- $20 (blue). Excited to see the weekly playerbase grow a lot, if not by players then at least by accessible decks. I know a lot of people who only have a single deck due to budget and this should help a lot.
It's confirmed as 'Goyf though.

The second green mythic is hoof
Wonder if this is due to the new management style. Give minimal shits about secondary market. String in new players with digital. Market the hell out of standard and get them into stores to play that. Flatline modern staples so that it's not expensive to upgrade your deck when it rotates.
Shifting Snapcaster and Cavern still doesn't quite make sense in this case, but this is a total shift from MM15 on.
I think, perhaps, just perhaps, Wizards finally gets the idea of "organic growth," that is, growing the game from the customers you already have.
It's good to attract the new players, but there is only so many people out there who want to play Magic. But growing the game among the already existing base is a very good idea, because these people are already fans, already know the game and so are often willing to spend more.
Take the $10 a month fan and make him or her a $50 a month spender. Take the 50 and make him or her 100. This is the kind of growth that can really sustain the game. Take the EDH player and make him or her a Modern player. Make the Standard player a Modern one. Make the Modern player an EDH player.
This is contingent on the print run of this set being as big as rumored though.

Countdown until the next spike on reserved list cards?
Stop overexagerating... This set is going to have a similar print run to MM15.
Vintage/Legacy player here, and ditto. I maintain a huge number of casual decks for family play, usually budget versions of real competitive decks. Sets like this that even temporarily nuke the prices of staple cards are enormous and bring me to the secondary market in a big way.
I agree this set is awesome and it will help solve (temporarily) a price problem that has plagued Modern for awhile. I disagree with the sentiment that this is a new thing. Wizards has been reprinting their little butts off for years now, for crying out loud. This is more of the wonderful, wonderful same.
This will never happen. Say this instead:
Also, can we get some love for this gorgeous new art on Serum Visions?

Jokes on you, that would require the Legacy to grow.
Chris Cocks became CEO on June 1st last year. Given how the Masters set have a shortened development cycle, I wouldn't be suprised if he showed up and told them to "REPRINT FUCKING EVERYTHING", Glengarry Glen Ross-style:
It's well-known that Magic has a shit retention rate of players. With the increased competition from digital games and stagnating player numbers, it makes sense to keep people longer around to compensate for fewer people who start playing Magic.
Guild signets reprinted, which occupied 10 slots. Artifacts like Ensnaring Bridge, Batterskull and Engineered explosives are ruled out.
I hear they got twisters miles wide in the Midwest.
The general gist of it is that previously, shop owners were told how much they could receive. Now they're being asked how much do they want.
Some followup reports are that small shop owners are getting supplies ganked for the larger stores, so not really sure anymore.
One question on my mind right now is how the hell do they top this next time? Not nearly enough money cards like this for EMA 2018 that aren't reserved list, and I can't think of much else that'd cause this much excitement for MM2019. Especially if they toss a few $50+ cards like Doubling Season, Explosives, and Hierarch in here this time around.
