    Re: [Deck] Goblins

Scrapper would definitely be useful to have (maybe instead of the Rabblemaster).
You also appear a little light on lands. Most lists run 22-23.
And you'll want 4 Ringleaders. That will become obvious after you play a few games.

I would say your priority should be getting 2 more Cavern of Souls.

    Do you have a sideboard?

I am so not sure about rabblemaster as to me he seems to be a great card but a bad goblin. I only run one in modern!

    Cavern, check, thanks.

No sideboard as such. I do have access to things that are useful in modern. Stony Silence, Rule of law, Kataki, Eathersworn Cannonist in white. Pithing needle, Ancient Grudge, engineered explosives, dragon claw, etc but I'm not sure any of it is Legacy worthy.

My modern decks are Dredgevine, BW Tokens, Goblins if that gives you a clue as to what I have to steal from.

I have a bad habit of editing my posts after I post them... so check back at what I wrote.
Pithing Needle has applications in Legacy. Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon would be pretty good for you to use if you already have them.

If you have a full playset of Pyrokinesis, the extra copies would be good in the sideboard.
Extra utility goblins are good in the board too (another Scrapper, Stingscourger, maybe Sharpshooter).

    Thanks.

I think I need to get away from my modern goblin list which is a completely different animal (where I'm testing reducing from 20 to 19 lands!). :)

I'm all out of goblins with this list I'm afraid. Yeah I have bushwhacker, loyalist, denizen, grenade but they didn't seem good enough or appropriate for this list. I have a couple of winstigators but again this is a more traditional list than a winstigator one.

I'll see what else I can scrounge up from people.

    Re: [Deck] Goblins

Ok since you asked for a report ill do my best:

    Round 1: helm/rip enchant combo

Game 1: i got destroyed, he ended up drawing like a 20 cards in a turn and killing me
game 2: opened with lackey into warchief--> warchief, he kept a hand with forest and 2 of the one that taps for white for all enchants, i wasted both of them and won.
game 3: turn 1 lackey again but he kept a hand with all prison stuff he ended up running out of gas and i attacked for 15 in 1 turn to end the game

    round 2: Deathblade

game 1: this game takes about 35 mins, he opens DRS, i open lackey, i keep him on 1 land because of 2 wastes but i get cant get my red mana since i opened with cavern so he catches up, game ends up with him at 2 life and 4 cards in hand with an active SFM, i say screw it and go for the tarfire, he has force and stabilizes at 1 life to come back with batterskull and SOFI to win

game 2:i open lackey into 3 warchiefs, he ends up plowing 2 of them and i get a ringleader out, revealing ringleader and matron, he plays tnn so i pass with a wear/tear in my hand, next turn he plays jitte and taps out to equip, i wear/tear when he swings and take the game next turn.

game 3: open with lackey and take the game with double piledriver on turn 4 after he runs out of gas.

    round 3: Food chain combo:

game 1: he mulls to 3 and i win
game 2: cavern into lackey into warchief double piledriver, game was over.

    top 4: Miracles

game 1: i open cavern into lackey into warchief putting matron into play to get ringleader, next turn i ringleader getting mogg war marshal and another matron and a piledriver, he ends up terminus but i didnt over extend and kill him with piledrivers because my hand is stacked(thanks ringleader!)

game 2: turn 1 lackey off cavern again, i put warchief into play, he eventually tried to cast a blue spell and i REB it, he flips top in response and i wear/tear his top and end up taking the game pretty quickly with ringleader value

    Finals: food chain from before

he scoops because of the earlier games saying he cant beat me lol

so i go 5-0 and am pretty happy considering i only pulled out my old goblins because i've been super bored and wanted to have some fun!

here is the sideboard as requested, and like i said, its very messy because i just threw it together to counter my meta specifically:

    2x REB
    3x pyroblast
    1x wear/tear
    2x rest in peace
    1x relic ofprogenitus
    4x ashen rider
    2x containment priest

As for the main deck, i know ill be cutting chieftain for sure, i never saw it once, maybe for another tarfire or something.

    4x goblin lackey
    4x goblin piledriver
    4x goblin matron
    4x goblin warchief
    4x goblin ringleader
    3x gempalm incinerator
    2x mogg war marshal
    1x goblin chieftain
    1x stingscourger
    1x skirk prospector
    1x goblin sharpshooter
    1x tin street hooligan
    1x siege-gang commander

    4x aether vial
    2x tarfire

    4x wasteland
    4x rishadan port
    4x cavern of souls
    2x plateau
    1x taiga
    3x Arid mesa
    2x wooded foothills
    3x Snow-covered mountain

    Re: [Deck] Goblins

    Hi again.

Forgive the obvious 'new boy knows nothing' question but could somebody tell me why apostle's blessing isn't considered?

Two of the things that seem to hurt the most are a lackey that can't get past a blocker or a lord taking an instant speed hit and upsetting combat math. It seems that this card would help in both these cases.

Given that I've never seen it in a list, not even in the days of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben leads me to believe that it's no good. Is it because it's too hard to find when needed, no room in the deck, just not good enough or some other reason.

    Thanks

    Re: [Deck] Goblins

Simply stated, it's not a goblin.
You can't Matron for it and you put it on the bottom with Ringleader.
It is also one less body in a deck designed to swarm with bodies.

Generally speaking, the non-goblins in the deck are included because of overwhelming power (Aether Vial) or as a necessity against decks Goblins has trouble with (Thalia).

Try it and see! While you are working on getting a sideboard together, you can fit a couple there.

I thought that might be the case as I assume this is why tarfire is preferred to lightning bolt

It was while shuffling through things to put in the sideboard that I found apostle's blessing in the binder.
Might be worth the surprise effect against people how know how to play Legacy.

    your guess is correct =)

besides, it just takes 2 (dmg) to deal w/ deathrite =X

apostole blessing has been considered, but it is too defensive. I tried myself some pump spells (rancor, and other stuff that gives trample), but they also were not very impressive.

so it's better to stick to gobbos, vials and hatefriends =P

@Sockosensei, what is in your SB? Do you play any shatter goblins in main.
Apologies for the slow reply. I mainly followed his list except I didn't have the Blood Moons handy and put in Trinisphere.

    2 Chalice of the Void
    2 Trinisphere
    2 Goblin Rabblemaster
    1 Goblin Sharpshooter
    3 Red Elemental Blast
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    1 Stingscourger
    1 Tuktuk Scrapper

4 Ancient Tombs is probably one too many for the main. It's so useful for post-board hate that I could see running the 4th Tomb in the board. If doing so, I'd redesign the sideboard to maximize the utility of the Tombs.

I've never left home without a shatter goblin in the main.

Just a heads up - wotc announced that as of the battle for zendikar prerelease, the new mulligan rules will apply. Any player who has less cards in their starting hand than the max hand size gets to scry 1 before the game begins.

This seems really great for us as we have to mulligan aggressively.

I guess I'll have to see how it works IRL, but for now it seems like the rule will encourage more shitty keeps... Just remember that you can still win on a mull to five I guess.

    Re: [Deck] Goblins

I've not played with it yet but my gut feel is that it will help decks like goblins that want specific things in their opening hands. I can see 1 land hands of 6 cards being a definite keep now. We shall see.

If that's the case, then the rule may favor skilled players that know a scry 1 doesn't save a bad hand, but rather improves a reasonable hand
