I like UNL Duals and they are certainly better than washed out Revised Duals. I mean I guess they are technically the lowest scale of "pimp" that a Dual can be, but it's better than nothing.

Call let's you get Revoker for some awkward spots and allows you to play Cage in the board. We've had an increase in Elves locally so I can certainly get behind that.

Even old T-Chinese font (circa Visions) doesn't look like Destiny era font. So if you can't read it and are looking to match things in some aesthetic way even that fails. As far as non english, as has been stated a thousand times in this thread German has the best coverage. If you have a hard on for foils what's the point? You'll have a bunch of promos scattered in and out.

Edit: Technically Italian has slightly better coverage but Italian legends is ghetto.

I'm trying to build elves in Chinese. Now is anyone else bothered that the old name for elves was "地精" and cards like Heritage Druid, Nettle Sentinel, etc only come as that type but the new name for elves is "妖精" and Deathrite Shaman only comes as "妖精". This bothers me.

A restriction would vastly improve a large percentage of the Workshop games (i.e. interactive) while retaining archetype strengths. The fact that Chalice punishes opponents ability to jump the curve to things like Restoration Angel or utilize cheaper answers like Lighting Bolt, becomes completely broken within the context of Workshops as an archetype i.e. strip effects, resistor effects, and tap effects. There's a fair amount of low quality games that are entirely determined by the roll and CotV, similar to 4X Trinisphere era - it's lousy and it's got to go. That being said many of the BUg lists put out by Amadeus Kurz have a great Workshop match up and I think there's a lot of take aways from the strategies he utilizes.

That's your problem right there. Only overflow duals/fetches/etc should be used for formats like Legacy and <shudder> Modern. The shadow of my laziness is expansive (though I'm not so haughty as to rule out that perhaps yours could rival or exceed my own), but I'm still having trouble with the implicit primacy this situation places on non-Vintage decks in your household. Personally, I couldn't live like that. Out-of-the-box playable Vintage decks lying around have much greater utility to me than other sorts of decks*.

However, pretty much all my actual playing-mtg-time consists of nothing but cube/vintage/oldskool. It's a lifestyle choice, I guess. If Legacy and Modern get you off, then more Power to you (as long as it gets shuffled regularly).

*Except Enchantress, which doesn't need any justification, but since the most competitive long-term build is sadly not Vintage, I always have a playable Legacy deck in case I get the urge to play "fair" Eternal. Speaking of which: Pimp Dilemma, comments welcome.

They violate the rule of "No Promos" but they are also fairly rare and expensive. I am not a fully evolved PimpMaster. I cannot process this information without help.

He always does Birds on alpha trops ... I decided to go against the grain and place a library on there. Mark Poole is awesome as always. Tom Fleming was really awesome also, I forgot he was even going to be there but had randomly picked up 4 Saga Korean rituals cheaper than dirt. I wish I had brought some of my VS. stuff. I think this year I finally ran out of room on my korean petals, intuitions and aluren's ... quad signed didn't happen.

Tom Fleming is indeed awesome. He lives[ed] in my hometown and back in the day he came by the shop. I was like 13 at the time but I ran and got 4 extra Saga DRits out of my binder and he graciously signed and doodled on them. Best artist experience I ever had. rk post was also quite amicable. Happy to sign a card and chat. Happy to take hundreds for detailed alters and chat. Good times

Ebay is so good and so on your side as a buyer, why would I pay your insane markup, random dealer person? I've bought some pretty harshly priced cards from vendors at events, just to use said cards in a tournament. Nothing too expensive, but just this spring I paid $20 for a Maelstrom Pulse when I could've gotten it for half that price from another player. You only ask around for so long before getting desperate :)

Disposable income would be an understatement for new legacy players let alone legacy players trying to pimp their decks. Its more like you need a small fortune.

If you notice most ppl in this thread are the same ballers that have been posting. There are not many new posters to this thread. Most have been playing for a long time. Some have hoarded valuable and trade those for pimp stuff. Beta/alpha duals are gonna be tour most expensive cards to find generally unless you ball outrageous like occam.

Play set of duals is like 5-7k now maybe. Beta duals are maybe 30-40k for a decent playset. Beta power is 10-15k. Foil fetch lands play set is 5-8k

Personally ive been playing since tempest but i was too young like 10, to realize the value or investment potential. I still made out like a bandit with minimal investment but paying 10$ for duals helps as does buying a lot of excess early on.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, these cards really exploded in the last five years. I was able to buy in before these cards took off. The Modern format really helped quit a bit. There is nothing like selling shocklands and buying Beta duals.

I personally hate altered cards unless they are by the original artist. They are automatically in poor condition if offered in trade. Altered and FTV I don't think should be able to be used to sanctioned tournament play either.

I'd probably call a judge on you to be honest. It's rather sketchy that everything that is not a land is altered and your lands aren't.

Decent alters though.

I have a difference in my lands and spells between foils and non. For example, foil fetchlands and FBB duals. There's also Lotus Petals and Lion's Eye Diamonds to mix up the spells. Having all thicker spells in your deck in comparison to your lands is certainly questionable.

Nedleeds, what pen/marker do you use when you have artists sign cards?

I use the Sharpie Bronze Metallic or Gold Metallic ink they don't splotch or run like full on paint pens and they dry very fast. I'd say they are subject to chipping is you sleeve/desleeve a billion times but if you are putting them in perfect fits that shouldn't matter.

I agree, the deck looks awesome, but I would make some changes so it has moar old border! (so it looks cooler:cool:):
Stifles (scourge foil) -> or if you really like JR's art, you can change to conspiracy ones, so you don't have the ugly DCI logo inside the text box
Wooded foothills (onslaught foil) -> those could have a lower price now thanks to the reprint
Lightning bolts (judge rewards) -> beta is a cheaper option, but I suppose that they must be foil

Thanks :) I do like the old stifle art. When I was working on this project it looked like finding the judge art would be easier. Haven't had the desire to go any further since I am focusing on a different deck as my primary deck.

I just gave them to a altering guy here in Spain. He did it. I think there is no problem, I alaways care to say that my alters has to be inside the original card picture frame and its not an alter that changes the original card. So they can recignice it easy. A lot of ppl where playing never recognice its altered.

@mini: Japp, thats mine. Since then I gotten the WB cards black boarded :) If you found it on the old school blog then you might have seen my latest version, it was from Warcon.

@jandax: yeah, the problem is what to ask for it and also of they might increase in value again. I sold a sapp in may for about 500 dollars, today it would probebly be around 700-750. I don't want to make that misstake again :)
