Honestly have no idea who's sig it is. Ive got like 5 foil etutors so I just took the sigged one and shoved it in the deck. I'm not a fan of some stuff like fnm brainstorm and ftv top. My original foil ones are in my legacy deck unfortunately. Cant be assed getting the 5th for Edh.

The sig is Mark Rosewater's, I'm quite sure. Markers would know for sure, I think.

I always enjoyed Signed Cards and I've seen alot of Terese Neilsen Sigs. I liked these the most because of the extremely thin ink. I believe it was done with some kind of caligraphy pen. Sharpie Sigs come of to me as a little rough compared to these. I prefer refined signatures. Her's is especially beautiful.

The Beta recall is my first ever piece of power, so it's got a special place in my heart. It's in pretty good nick too, just a little off centre. I also really like the full art Angels. They're the best looking full art cards too date IMO. I only play them in a vial deadguy ale deck, but we've had a lot of good times. Especially in a threesome with Stoneforge Mystic and her BDSM equipment. :)

plus i devalued my deck by a few thousand euros because i replaced my beta duals with mint german unlimited ones. needed to fetch faster, and so many people had unlimited and revised ones, and obviously summer is too expensive, so my decision were german unlimited. somehow i feel saver now when i carry the deck around because i had no CE/IE counterparts anymore for my duals, just got some for the P9 but havent cut the corners yet.

I have 2 of the replacement cards, one is like the above card and the other is a blank. I was told the more recent ones aren't "uber" rare so they go for about 6-7 bucks, but the older replacement cards have more value.

Quick question: I've been noticing Wasteland's price slowly dropping, and that the old-bordered DCI foils are actually on par or below Korean Wastelands. Although there's been an influx of Korean Wastelands on Ebay recently (people cashing out to the price drop I guess) so that may change. Also the flavor text is awesome on that Wasteland!

Yeah, I got mine done at GenCon a few years back - I like the wolf Hymns the best as well so it was really awesome that she was there. She was really nice to me when I got them done (and actually seemed surprised that someone would want her to draw / sign them). To Korean language fans -

Seems as though Magic 2012 set has finally gone on sale. Cards are (slowly) starting to filter through. Right now I spot 3 auctions on ebay for sealed products, maybe a few more weeks until singles start flooding. Rumor has it that translations are pretty bad (not that most of us can read it anyway), and the usual initial print run heavy inking/smearing is also apparent.

Any predictions on korean foil Ponder's going price? :)

The problem with eBay is the sellers. There are quite a few overseas sellers who have been posting Korean items on eBay for years now. A great example is Tingxuan. It's common knowledge that the guy does not grade properly, overcharges by a boat load, and has slow shipping. As a Korean collector would I ever buy cards from Tingxuan with a straight face? No. Unfortunately there's people who go and look at those auctions and think that's an acceptable prices to charge so it really messes up the secondary market.

There's a Korean Foil Ponder from M12 up right now and I'm pretty sure it's going to sell for way more than it should. Korean M12s print run will be smaller than English or other language print runs because they started printing months late. However you have to realize that this set is going to be opened in droves for the next year. Prices up now are not reflective of what the cards will and should actually cost. In addition you have to take note that depending on the seller the reason why boxes are 200.00 and not 90.00 is not because it's "rare" it's because shipping from Korea costs a ton and they include that and eBay fees in the price.

Shit gives me a headache. It's sad to see Korean go the way of overpriced not so rare Foil Japanese.

I'm working on it, but my friend in Korea doesn't know where the stores are at exactly. lol Not to mention, he hasn't played in ages so he has no clue what he's after. I'll have a few boxes of boosters soon though if he finds a store nearby. If anyone knows where the stores are at that sell it, that would help.



You knew Korean would go the way of Japanese. If anything, I like the writing better. Though I am not a fan of either. That and older Korean cards have a reputation for being overly expensive also so it went without saying.

Old Korean cards were only pricey in Mint condition; at least in my experience people never used to respect the language so a lot of the cards were treated poorly, making Mint Korean hard to find.

To be honest the new font kinda sucks. It doesn't even come close to the older fonts which look a hell of a lot better. You're right I did know, which is why I went in early and even then I spent a lot of money more than I should have - I'm happy though.

It's still going to cost you around 130.00 USD per box even before shipping due to the South Korean Won and USD translating poorly.

Russian has become too mainstream and is losing it's appeal. It also looks really bad when mixed with Japanese. At some point the 5 or so people who like Russian and pay well for it will stop and it will kill the market for it.

Russian cards look cooler to me, but Foil Strands are so much prettier than Foil Rainforests...

I recently got a hold of 4 Burning Wish with a fish drawn on them with black magic marker. The fish looks the same on all four of them. Could this be Scott M. That is Scott M Fischer's signature. Generally, it should be at equal or lesser value. Signatures don't add value to cards.

I've seen plenty of playsets valued and bought for slightly more only due to cool signatures... I don't own much signed cards but for example I have a set of foil JSS City of brass signed in gold by Tedin which looks amazing, and various collectors/sellers who saw it tended to value it 15-20 eur above normal playset price (therefore 110-120 eur + 15/20 eur).

When I ask artists to sign cards I own, I always tip (ie, increases my cost per card), so I have no problems paying extra when regularly buying cards.

I tried really hard to justify getting an Abyss (since the card is pretty terrible in legacy). I just wanted to get it for Sharuum honestly, since it's like super recurring removal that doesn't affect you. However, $100 for a card that is optional in Sharuum seemed like a bad deal.

I have a strip mine thats miscut- but not to the point where you can see another card. maybe a few more millimeters before that point. you can see a series of 4 white dots at the upper right corner, where i think that the normal corners of the card would have been.

Very playable. It even made Day Two of the G.P. undefeated (9-0) and still packs a punch with its consistency and non-interactive line of play. (That's a conversation saved for the forum, however.)

Believe it or not, the Beta Shadow was near impossible to find - much less the FBB ones. Most of this stuff I picked up right when the archetype took off. Now, most Manaless Dredge 'pimped' cards have increased well over 100% in value per card.

Love the miscut abyss. As long as it's a readily distinguishable miscut card it's usually good; miscuts that are slightly off center aren't that desirable really in my eyes.

Yeah I just checked on beta nether shadow's and they're 50+. Alpha cards are getting harder and harder to find though.

Russian foil is mainstream? Since when? Everyone around here is still on the japanese foil bandwagon despite russian being a lot cooler IMO and a lot harder to find while japanese foils are a lot easier to get ahold of for pretty much everything.

Also props on that cake. Best cake I've ever seen for sure.

The FBB shadows are getting fairly rare. I was wondering about that when I listed one lately. I seemed to be the only one who had one so I had no idea what to start it at. There still seemed to be some betas, but they are a little over priced compared to some places I checked.

Yeah italian legends was printed years later I think it was 1995 that they sent out the first print run of italian Legends although I'm not completely sure. But italian legends is worth less than english legends because the print run for english legends was significantly smaller.

Thats not unreasonable. I play with mostly german decks and since we have new players time to time I always try to have an english one on hand or offer to put up the card on my phone.

@John: You are not required to keep English copies of your foreign cards around. In fact, if your judge was really strict about it, you would even get a penalty for having cards in your deckbox that are neither part of your maindeck nor sideboard. In case people are unfamiliar with the cards you use, the correct thing to do is to get the Oracle text from a judge.

I mean it like - people often just think they know the card and foreign language keep them blind and the truly learn them after they lose

It's interesting to note that Magus of the Tabernacle works differently from the actual Tabernacle. One makes the creature sacrifice itself, the other destroys it.

The place I play at is really a casual environment on par with an FNM so I'm not too worried about getting a game loss. The reason I keep English cards is that I went to time in a few matches the first time I played belcher there because a lot of players weren't familiar with manamorphose or serum powder , there were even questions about burning wish being exiled after it resolved and the number of tokens empty the warrens generated.
A lot of players here are unfamiliar with legacy or are playing so they can play their deck from 1996 with 4x mindtwist. It doesn't help when I do well which I tend to with belcher for for some reason. I also just assumed that when people play weird stuff like Teferi's Realm for the first time in an area people have questions and it being Japanese or Korean can't help :laugh: .

but the rest of the deck - it is clearly visible you are trying to upgrade a lot of cards, all in all the deck looks pretty good to me, except for the power. there is still a long way to go until it can be accepted as pimp by the majority of people.

I think that is a really good way of putting it. I do plan to upgrade the power over the next year or two so I can play at Gen Con, but dont have any reason too for the time being because a majority of my vintage group at school play with paper print outs lol.

I could care less about WB vs BB as some WB cards are more rare then the BB version. I do find mixing anything other than English and X other language or A/B/U sets trashy looking. Your reasoning behind Asian vs. English foils doesn't really make any sense. I could understand if you had just Korean cards where foils were not printed until recently but having a chunk of Japanese kind of null and voids your argument or lack there of. I'm all for "to each their own" but when you post something that just looks shitty expect to have some words thrown your way. Just as you have your opinions of what looks good I have my own. Jesus, i can't understand you guys who complain. You keep guys like Mr C and plenty of other guys of posting because they know you'll flame them b/c its not jap foil/beta. I like elvishpipers deck (except the proxies).

Personally i find the cards that mystical1 post to be fucking boring. Only because your cards is expensive doesn't mean everyone like them. (for example: breitling makes ugly & tacky watches, yet they're still expensive). I bet you're of one those guys who wear a breitling/rolex in gold and complain about people who wear an vintage omega (or something else that's cheap)

I think moderators should step in and allow no complaints, so people won't be afraid of posting/think their work is wasted because all they get is complaints.

Korean doomsdays run about 40-50 USD apiece. They are quite hard to find then again so are most korean cards.

But yeah korean doomsday is definitely pimp since there are no foils and japanese just isn't the same as korean.

So, after going to a few legacy tournaments, I've decided I like to play storm, and thus I am making it a project to foil out my storm deck... probably not in Japanese, as I'm still a student and does not make anywhere near enough for Japanese foils.

Also, I live in New Zealand - making it impossibly hard to find a lot of the foils, whilst at least half of Ebay is shut off to me. For example, at the tournament I went to last weekend - at least 4 people knew about a foil Masques Dark Ritual - but it was the same ritual that has passed through several hands, lol. I'm willing to take the challenge though :)

Now..before the haters come out of the woodwork screaming about sacrilege (which was the response I got on Salvation), this Mox Pearl was originally a very played Unlimited Mox Pearl. When I bought it at Providence, I got it AND an equally played Mox Emerald for $525 total from a dealer - so the condition was rather beat. And, being Unlimited, it isn't exactly a scarce piece of Power. I left my Beta P9 and Time Vault untouched, and they will remain untouched. My goal is a set of altered UN P9 + Vault, and a set of unaltered Beta P9 + Vault.

Still evident on the card is some frontal surface wear around the artist line, and some still visible under the Pearl itself in the frame. So clearly this was not a NM Mox that got altered. All my Unlimited Power is in similar condition. I'm a bit more picky with Beta Power.

Apparently someone is a bit out of the loop on Commander popular foils. Using SCG prices that lot is valued at over $220. Pretty reasonable trade, its probably easier to find a Twister for trade then a few of those foils (specifically the Witness, Solemn and, my personal favorite, the Urborg).

Do those cards have a certain prestige? Not really. And pieces of power are a lot harder to find than foil urborg. The only reason I would have done that trade is if the timetwister was really beat up because then I wouldn't feel so bad afterwards trading a really beat card for some NM foils.

Thanks! They were my first Beta duals - they're a little beat, but most of the wear is on the backs at least.

I do like silver signatures on black border cards.

I feel like the Guru-eque alters are getting overdone. I mean...I've seen Guru duals, Guru Moxen, now Guru Goyfs...

But I suppose an entire deck altered into a Guru theme with real Guru basics would be hot.
