i got 11 summer basics of all colors, all mint or nm+ for 800$ shipped last week while those crazy auctions were ongoing, more basics incoming aswell

you bought this forest for 85€+shipping from mcm, it disappeared from there when the ebay forest broke the 150$ :-P

now i see that you got it^^
at least it is in germany now, we have a serious lack of summer here (not only weather-wise^^)

I have found a guy selling a Wheel of Fortune saying that its French and from Summer Magic. Was this edition printed in other languages than English? How can I tell that it's a true Summer Magic card and not a regular 4th edition or similar?

Summer was a "crappy" print run of revised, thus only printed in English. Summer cards have dark colors, the 1994 trademark (which is not there in normal revised print runs) and artist credit.

Also that Russian stuff is awesome... makes me want to kill myself :p

yes, it is. nonenglish foils are only available in alt. art. of course only these, that had alt art in english

/edit: btw got a mint jap foil goyf in a trade today. if someone is interested, mail me as i dont play green.

I posted this on Librarities when I finished my goal of 100 Summer lands earlier this year (long before the price spike :smile:) The graded ones are 10's and the dual is a Savannah.

655 of each art should have survived the destruction. i just forgot which calculation i used. i think i calculated with 40 displays although that´s unrealistic because it should have been 42 displays as they should have been distributed case-wise. i have no information if the displays in texas and UK were shipped in cases or display-wise

i doubt that many basics were taken.

i rather assume stuff like duals, shivans, vesuvans, tutors, mahamotis, demonic hordes, stp, serra angels, specters, sengirs and what else was popular back then.

of a lot of duals there are at least 25 out there. so probably more vesuvans, shivans and mahamotis than that.

A lot of Revised was miscut, so it's also possible they came from two sheets miscut the same way, but since they're so close on the sheet, it's possible.

This was something that I debated about for a long time. I'm never going to have to prove to anyone else that it really was him since they are for sure part of my "to the grave" collection.

I just don't really like signatures for the most part. *shrug*

It's conceivable that I may change my mind and if I do, I'll have him sign it at a later date. I'll be sure to have him sign over the artists name too ;)

He didn't do the art for those. They are a misprint in the artist's credit. That was the joke about Mark Tedin being right next to him. Tedin did the art for the red one.

I'm incredibly interested to know what an uncut sheet of The Dark looks like. Does anybody have this information or know of a way to figure it out? I'd love to see which rares were next to each other. Imagine a split of Maze of Ith and Sorrow's Path! :wink:

Awesome deck. Jap foils are a bitch to find now, especially the older ones. You used to be able to steal them for 1.5 to 2X the English foil values 2-3 years ago. But now, Jap foils command values of 3-4 X the english foil value. IMO that's pretty ridiculous.

Now I have unlimited playsets of Tundra, Underground, Volcanic, and Plateau, plus a bunch of other unlimited duals. I'm slowly converting my revised playset to unlimited.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I really like unlimited duals, much more than FBB and Revised. Alpha/Beta is too much for me so I'm sticking to Unlimited as a compromise. I think a deck with all BB cards and Unlimited Duals plus Unlimited basics looks very classy and makes fetching easy.

Note: I prefer non-foil, English, old card frame when pimping.

I agree but people should post pictures rather than reports of their pruchases in this thread (not that I have any to share :laugh:).

This is brought up from time to time. You and I are similar.
I love the unlimited duals due to the saturation of the color and for other oddball reasons like it being the only white border version of the original plateau art(!).

I'd rather have unlimited duals over FBB ones any day of the week.

Only different between us is that sometimes I like to have foils but it's rare that I'll shell out for them unless I adore the card like no other.

Everyone has their personal preferences, but generally speaking, more expensive / rare = more pimp.

Russian cards are very much in demand these days, as are Korean cards.

That's a good question. I hadn't thought about it. The judge gave me a deck check right before Top 8, and didn't mention anything, but it's quite possible that he didn't notice the Trop.

The sleeves are Opaque black, so as long as they aren't really open on the top to the point where you can make out distinguishing characteristics of the card, I assume it's all legal.

Even double-sleeved, I suspect you can probably feel the crimp through the sleeves. I'd avoid using it in sanctioned events if that's the case. Best to talk to the judge first either way.

I had a crimped Beta Mox for a long time and no one ever gave me any problems with it. I always asked about it before any tournaments started and they were always fine w it. It's probably more of a thing about what type of sleeves you use. I use KMC blues and those are pretty thick.

I like the art a lot more on the Judge Stifle than the original Stifle myself even though foil Scourge is considered more pimp. I also like the simplicity of the card text with it having no flavor text.

The first three forests are foil (I prefer non-foil Jap for most of my cards, but at the price that I got them for, I couldn't pass them up). Any specks are either on the sleeve or on my scanner glass pane.

Card is real. I have seen several cards like this, that have come out from wotc, that are totally miscut (centering) and the card shape is off as well. I might have a few at home, I'll try to post tom.

But on another note I remember when fallen empires packs were a $1 for 3 packs at my local LGS oh 15 years or so and I use to open it by the case and throw all the miscut cards away :(

I don't think miscut fallen empires are worth much unless they're actually desirable cards/high tide and hymn to tourach. I have some random miscuts from that set and no one has ever asked for them because they're junk cards despite the fact that they're pretty miscut (although they aren't crazy miscut like some where it has a little bit of another card on it)

That artificial evolution is also good with didgeridoo lulz.

A quick question for everybody: I started pimping my decks a few years ago, but some months ago I decided to defoil everything from Foil Japanese and Foil English to plain Japanese.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to take pics :frown:
I just have the pics of my first deck and can take the pics of the few Foil Japanese that I still have to give away..

Now I have to decide what Brainstorms to get. I prefer the Chris Rush art, but hate white borders. Do you suggest to look for Japanese BB and paint the border or normal English/English signed ones? Or do you have other ideas?

Japanese Brainstorm is available in BB from the Coldnsp pre-cons. The only ugly thing about them is the new border however.

Are A/B duals more sexy than foreign black bordered duals? black bordered foreign were only in unlimited and revised right? or just unlimited or revised?

There were two versions of foreign revised: Black and white bordered. The only printing of Unlimited was in english.

EDIT: Posted a buylist on MOTL Might as well since I'm working over Christmas, and thus would be able to afford them.

Well, it depends. FBB looks nicer in the fact that it has richer colours, regular sized borders, and is in a foreign language. Beta is harder to find, way more expensive (especially if you want nice looking copies), has thicker borders, and to some isn't as visually appealing. I think Beta is gone after more due to rarity than looks.

Plus, shuffling Beta Seas is pretty much one of the worst feelings ever. For me, I'd rather have cards I can shuffle well (like FBB) if I'm in a tournament setting, since I want the randomization. I don't want to have to gingerly shuffle my cards, or worse, have an opponent riffle-shuffle my deck with Beta duals in it. I was worried that during the GP I'd have to pimp-slap somebody, so I just played with my revised duals.

Your call. You'll pimp your deck faster and look just as good if you go with FBB. If you have the cash, and don't mind it taking tons more money, time, and effort, then Beta to your heart's content.

I would disagree with this premise in the instance of Underground Sea regarding looks. The FBB seas use the Revised artwork which has an orange hue to it. The sun in the background of the Beta Underground Sea has a more golden/yellow hue to it. The orange hue in the FBB Underground Sea's almost feels like it washes over the art, but not in the way sunlight would wash over a landscape (which I think was the intent).

The newest altered Mox is done. I'll be getting it back on January 1st, along with my Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Time Walk, and Timetwister.

As with my Mox Pearl alteration, this began as a very played Unlimited Mox. Still evident on the card is the fierce crease on the top edge of the card (visible by the faded brown coloration) and some minor surface wear. Like most Power, this card was most likely played without sleeves in the very early 1990s.

This time, I had the artist take pictures of it as he worked on the card.

Couple things:

1. Using "gay" as an insult is super gay.

2. Use capitalization. It's required on these boards.

3. A lot of people really like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I don't personally, but the point is they're not inherently gay. As far as I'm aware, their sexuality isn't really addressed directly in the show at all. And if it were, it would be kind of weird, because, you know, they're cartoon horses. I'll bet you can find some fanfic if you look hard enough though. Whatever floats your boat. Who am I to judge?

Every time you post a progress report on your magical ponies alters people make fun of you and you get really defensive. Let's be honest - how could you not expect this? If you like magical ponies enough to actually pay for it to get done to your power then let the haters hate.

Personally I find 99% of alters horrid (yours are no different). I find clean cards in Mint condition a lot more sexy.

Not very often and if I do they are double sleeved and I change out the sleeves quite frequently. Most of my T1 is done through Cockatrice these days.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm a big fan of Unlimited Power as well. Alpha and Beta can be really beautiful but to be honest most of the sets I see are pretty beat up/fakes which makes a condition stickler like myself :cry:. Boarder colors never really bothered me so I just went with Unlimited because I could actually afford to keep my Korean addiction and pick up some Mint Power. The Emerald and Jet have evaded me so far :mad:.

While we're on the topic of horrid alters - this is the correct way to do signatures. Sharpies are bad.

Actually they are paint markers which is what I suggest people use as it flows better and stays consistent.

Luckily you can find Jeff A. Menges at multiple NY area T1 tournaments throughout the year, he will be at this (http://www.themanadrain.com/index.php?topic=43540.0) one next. If you are interested I hear he does top dollar Swords to Plowshares alters. Perhaps you could have him alter one to include Margaret Organ-Kean's iconic Tarpan artwork.

UW Stoneblade. After 4.5 years, I have finally completed this deck. Almost gave up so many times due to the sheer cost and difficulty, but finally managed to complete it. It's a mixed bag, but it's pretty pimp to me. I love Asian FBBs for the old school feel as well as the new Judge foils. I love the foiling process on Judge foils, seems shinier for some reason. Also have a Miscut, a Crimped, Signed and also Altered cards. It's a pretty weird mix. But I love it.
