They were doing it with judge promos that hadn't been printed in the old border, like SoFI, bob, Crucible. Hopefully that trend continues, even though it isn't quite correct.

I've been wishing for old-border ZEN fetches as Judge promos for years. I mean, they updated ONS with the modern frame (take it or leave it, I think they look pretty decent, especially with the DCI watermark) so to complete the cycle for people who only do old-borders. I mean, even Noble Hierarch got an old-border and it's not exactly a card that needed one (I guess since it's a mana dork and most dorks have old-border pack foils).

My 93/94 deck is pretty much complete now. I'm not going to upgrade the Tundra's and Volcanics to Unlimited (i've had these ones since 96), but everything else in the main deck is now done. Plateau's getting signed at columbus. Ironclaw Orcs over Pump knights and White Knights because trying to cast WW on time with a 94 mana base is actually super difficult, and can never happen turn one with out a pearl, where as the orcs can come down on turn one off of any mox.

Most people on here will say Gurus. But those are ugly af tbh. I think any Euro or APAC lands are leagues more visually-appealing than Gurus, which are only expensive because of their scarcity.

Alternatively, you can 1-up the Guru users (if value is what you're going for) with Summer lands.

I actually like urza's basics more than others but if you want foil I'd go with them.

If you want quality foiling you should look to newer lands which IMO are ugly with that stupid symbol only text box of shit.

Are you English-only? Old-border Japanese foil lands look pretty sweet. Especially Invasion or 7th. Nobody can really hate on foil 7th (English or not).

Check out any set basic lands from Mercadian through Onslaught (7th edition, too). They will be old border foils. Also, check arena promos. There is urza's saga island and mountain. Not sure if there is a plains. Theres ice age foil swamp, island, and mountain too.

Honden looks very good, Dismember and FoW look awesome. They don`t quite look like pack foils though, they are a bit glossier as these are the secondary product print/cardboard quality. I am 100% sure that they look a lot better than FTVs at the very least. I find that a blowtorch will often do the trick.

They look fine. The shine isn't as "brilliant" as on Judge promos, older foils, and pack foils, but it's definitely a great improvement over MM15 and Expeshitions.

They look pretty much like recent set foils, if you want to get foil hymns get those instead of FTV.

I bought from there a week ago, paid with just a postepay (is a VISA card you can pretty easily get here in Italy, i guess there could be a similar solution for you aswell) and the order came from Japan to Italy is a matter of days.
Be careful, you'll likely have to pay the taxes of your country on top of the price you pay the cards.

If you want another shot at getting those sweeties you can try to contact Saito, he attend most GPs and maybe he could bring some cards to sell if you ask him.

Play the cards you like, you are not gonna reach the pimp pinnacle anyway most likely.

I would rather play original FOWs for example, that's one of the few "untouchable" arts for me, having to pick between EMA and JDG i would rather play EMA's foil.
That said, i like all 3 artworks, all of them are good imho.

For example I like uniformity in the way like my tes deck:
Infernal tutor is new frame. So burning wish is also the dci one. The judgment art is better but the new one is not much worser. So I take unifomity.
Not in my deck but in cards that do the most. That the reason I play fbm brainstorm because ponder, preordain and gitaxian are all new frame.
And so on

Wormwood, Leafkicker, Driftwood, XBoutique, and whatever other Etsy-tier custom deck boxes are all tacky as hell, and will still get destroyed if hit by a truck. If you really want to customize a deck box for your pimp deck, get a UltraPro Satin Tower in white and then either paint it yourself or commission someone to do it.

The Candelabras, Bazaars, LED and Mox Diamand all help me finish playsets of those respective cards. Always wanted a BB set of Rituals. The Gauntlet and Lord of the Pit are for nostalgia and cool factor and picked up a couple extra Drains, cause you can never have too many English Mana Drains....

Wormwood, Leafkicker, Driftwood, XBoutique, and whatever other Etsy-tier custom deck boxes are all tacky as hell, and will still get destroyed if hit by a truck. If you really want to customize a deck box for your pimp deck, get a UltraPro Satin Tower in white and then either paint it yourself or commission someone to do it.

The Satin Towers are supposed to be nice.

I just use an outdoor case designed for camera/electronics that fits 2 Ultra Pro side loading deck boxes snugly in the cutout foam. I can put it in a backpack or luggage without worrying that the deck boxes will get knocked around. There's leftover space for dice and things as well.

Not that I want to actually test, but I opened a foil back when KTK was released and immediately triple sleeved it. It's remained flat this whole time.

If the bend is really stubborn, you can try to apply some heat (with a hairdryer or something) to loosen up the foil before flattening it. I like foil cards, I used to have most of my decks foiled. Until I realised that I didn't need to have all those foil cards at all time in front of my eyes, and sold them to upgrade my p9. Now I still keep a few cheap foil cards because they look nice, but for my decks I go for plain english signed original edition, and fbb for duals. And I think that decks look better when you don't mix foil and non-foil cards.

No, Legends was only printed in English and Italian. Eternal Masters was printed in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and English.

We were discussing this a few pages back. I went with Judge foil because they retain some of the feel of the old FoW (e.g., colors and perspective), and because I don't use any other cards with the new border and hologram, so the EMAs would look a bit out of place. I like the Terese Nielsen art but, aesthetically, there's just a bit too much going on with the card frame and text box for my tastes. Also, I think the masters sets are generally less pimp than anything else.

I play Unlimited over FBB, because for me the most pimp is: Older card and best quality of the picture. (The target is Alpha/Beta, but too expensive)
So I can live good with wb cards. The wb cards are a part of the the history of magic. So why not?
6th edition Birds of Paradise are 100x better than 10th edition or Ravnica.

For me it is also no pimp target to have a uniform deck, because each card is a work of art and stands for itself.
So I have only cards in foil, which are for me very special. Per Deck only 1-5 foils. For me foil stands for the special factor. And to have it, the whole deck should not be in foil.

I do. They do work, but the 3 batches i got were different sizes. Some slide right onto the cards, some require a bit of force to get on. Because of this, the border doesnt always line up. It might be because I got one of the earlier runs, but I am not too impressed

If your deck is fully non-foil japanaese I personally would not use guru but any old boarder japanese ones (4th BB, Invasion,Masques,Odyssey ,7th,ONS).

For those that enjoy this, I've been shopping in Korea. My first (baby) steps into Pimping. I must say it is rather addictive. I definitely want to complete the sets of Abrupt Decays, Polluted Deltas and DRS (the ponders are a full set). It is mostly for Storm, so I maybe I'll be upgrading my Lotus Petals as well. It was funny that all the shops I looked into in Seoul only had the new Korean stuff from M13 on, as if the older Korean series were never printed.

I definitely want to complete the sets of Abrupt Decays, Polluted Deltas and DRS (the ponders are a full set). It is mostly for Storm, so I maybe I'll be upgrading my Lotus Petals as well. It was funny that all the shops I looked into in Seoul only had the new Korean stuff from M13 on, as if the older Korean series were never printed.

I'm particularly liking Griselbrand in Korean, he looks epic. Too bad the Judge foil art isn't available in Korean.

I wish the font hasn't changed, it doesnt feel that special on the new cards and does not really blend in (whatever new boarder anyway) ... also the close miss on Mirage kor LEDs would have been insane... the upside is unless you do foils the only expensive card for Storm is BS

Well, not legacy, but a few minutes ago that beautiful emerald came and finished my Alpha P8 set. P8 because all my Lotuses are beta!

I graded my old Sapphire which i couldnt dare to play anymore since it was too nice. Luckily it got a 9 and i found a quick replacement. And funny thing about the emerald is thar i bought a played copy from USA and a day latee this beauty showed up for sale, so i had to pick it up too and since it came from europe i got it with a 1day delivery. That means i will also have multiples of emerald xD

Took me around four and a half years to finish this set :)
For Lotus I will maybe go some time in the future, now i need to finish alpha duals too!

Now i wouldnt sign or alter p9 anymore, but back then it was cool and for me this particular card will always stay cool :)

I know I know, that there is no definition of pimp, but I still need your advise guys (and I know, some will hate me for this project ^^)

I currently foiling out my Griselbanned deck in a united nation styles (aka 4 different languages in a playset, but those are consistent). The problem I have is, that only 3 languages are fix as for know (and I have most cards already foiled out in these languages). They are PT > GER > Japo. However, I have no idea, what the 4th one should be. English would be the lamest one, but also the easiest to acquire. Russian does not work, since there are no Russian Kamigawa cards (and old Bordered Defense Grids). Spanish and Italian are straight up ugly (+ I have already PT for this). This leaves me basically with French, Chinese and English and all of those options suck a little bit :/

However, since I cannot stand the old Griselbrand artwork (running the promo version), English would be the best option to have at least this small form of consistency. Other option would be some foil alters with the old artwork, but than again, they would the only alters in the deck.

So yeah, any suggestion here (aka, what the 4th language should be)?

Long project, my OldSchool UR. Still a WIP, but most of the cards have come back from artists and most of it it's signed (still waiting for a Recall that shouldn't take much more, unstable mutations, a hammerheim...). As you can see many of the cards are FBB (I cannot afford Beta duals, and if I won't be able to play a tournament without Beta volcanics, I haven't got much motivation to get AN serendibs for example). At least all of the cards were printed in 1993 or 1994...

I think that BBE is one of the few cards where i actually couldn't care which version to run. I'm a fan of both Argyle as Swanland and personally i would take Swanland, since the artwork has this kind of aggresiveness i like.
